Derivados citotóxicos de vitanolidos isolados das folhas de Acnistus arborescens
In view of anticancer activity of 7 β-acetoxywithanolide D (2) and 7β-16α-diacetoxywithonide D (3), isolated from the leaves of Acnistus arborescens (Solanaceae), five withanolide derivatives were obtained and their structures were determined by NMR, MS and IV data analysis. The in vitro anticancer activity of these derivatives was evaluated in a panel of cancer cell lines: human breast (BC-1), human lung (Lu1), human colon (Col2) and human oral epidermoid carcinoma (KB). Compounds 2a (acetylation of 2), 3b (oxidation of 3) and 2c (hydrogenation of 2) exhibited the highest anticancer activity against human lung cancer cells, with ED50 values of 0.19, 0.25 and 0.63 μg/mL, respectively

Electrospray Ionization Mass Spectrometry Fingerprinting of Extracts of the Leaves of Arrabidaea chica
Arrabidaea chica (crajiru) is an important Amazonian plant. Its extracts are used as red pigments, antimicrobial agents and astringents. Three different varieties of this species are cultivated in the Amazon region. In this work, direct infusions of A. chica extracts from these three varieties were analyzed via electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI(+)-MS) fingerprinting. Derived data from the spectra were classified by using a multivariate method (PLS-DA, partial least squares-discriminant analysis). The direct method that is herein presented relies on extraction of dry, powdered leaves with acidified methanol/water solution with no further sample preparation. The resulting supernatants were analyzed by direct infusion ESI(+)-MS, which provides characteristic fingerprints of the sample composition. 3-Deoxyanthocyanidins are important substances in A. chica, their ions were used as markers in the PLS-DA data treatment. PLS-DA was able to differentiate the three varieties. ESI(+)-MS fingerprinting works as a simple and fast method to differentiate varieties of A. chica.2334090Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES

Synthesis, characterization and in vitro anticancer activity of Novel 8,4’ : oxyneolignan analogues
Neolignans are a class of natural products with a wide range of biological effects. These substances are of great synthetic and biological interest, especially in searching for novel anticancer agents. In this paper, we report the synthesis of a new subclass of 8,4’-oxyneolignan analogues (β-ketoethers and β-ketoesters) and their cell viability assay on twenty four different cancer cells, among leukemias and carcinomas. Three compounds inhibited the growth of most human cancer cells. 2-Oxo-2-phenylethyl(2E)-3-[4-(2-oxo-2-phenylethoxy) phenyl]prop-2-enoate showed an antiproliferative activity superior to doxorubicin for U-87, U-138 MG and H1299 cell types and (E)-2-oxo-2-phenylethyl 3-(3-methoxy-4-(2-oxo-2-phenylethoxy)phenyl)acrylate was found to be very selective, demonstrating a growth inhibition of 92.0% against KG-1 cells. Furthermore, 1-oxo-1-phenylpropan-2-yl cinnamate exhibited significant inhibition activity in a range of 52.2 to 91.2% against twelve kinds of leukemia cell lines, revealing excellent results and very comparable to the reference drug
Isolation Of Chavibetol From Essential Oil Of Pimenta Pseudocaryophyllus Leaf By High-speed Counter-current Chromatography.
Counter-current chromatography (CCC) was used to isolate chavibetol from the essential oil of leaves of Pimenta pseudocaryophyllus (Gomes) Landrum. Chavibetol was obtained in high purity (98%) and mass recovery (94.4%). Methyleugenol was also isolated. The CCC biphasic solvent system used was composed of hexane:n-butanol:methanol:water (12:4:4:3, v/v/v/v).12164303-
