Essa pesquisa objetiva investigar a contribuição do Programa Institucional de Bolsa de Iniciação à Docência (PIBID) para a aprendizagem da docência dos licenciandos, focalizando a construção da identidade docente como professores pesquisadores e reflexivos, no contexto de um Instituto Federal de Ciências, Educação e Tecnologia, por meio de narrativas e análise documental. Evidenciou-se que o PIBID pode se constituir em um espaço de reflexão, em que o formando é incitado a desenvolver postura investigativa, elaborar e executar projeto de ensino e de investigação; entretanto, os estudos e reflexões sobre a pesquisa deve também ser assumido pelos demais professores formadores para que esta atividade seja fortalecida na instituição.The Training in and for Research in PIBID: possibilities and weaknesses. This research aims to investigate contributions of the Programa Institucional de Bolsa de Iniciação a Docência [Institutional Scholar- ship for Teaching Initiation Program] - (PIBID) to the learning of teachers. It is focused on the construction of the professional identity as researchers and reflective teachers, in the context of a Federal Institute of Sciences, Education and Technology, by means of narratives and documents analysis. Stabbing News: Articulating Crime Statistics in the Newsroom

There is a comprehensive body of scholarly work regarding the way media represent crime and how it is constructed in the media narrative as a news item. These works have often suggested that in many cases public anxieties in relation to crime levels are not justified by actual data. However, few works have examined the gathering and dissemination of crime statistics by non-specialist journalists and the way crime statistics are gathered and used in the newsroom. This article seeks to explore in a comparative manner how journalists in newsrooms access and interpret quantitative data when producing stories related to crime. In so doing, the article highlights the problems and limitations of journalists in dealing with crime statistics as a news source, while assessing statistics-related methodologies and skills used in the newsrooms across the United Kingdom when producing stories related to urban crime

O direito à informação e o (ainda restrito) espaço cidadão no Jornalismo Popular impresso

Este artigo objetiva mostrar como na era da informação o Jornalismo, muitas vezes, negligencia o estímulo ao exercício da cidadania, em especial o Jornalismo realizado pelos meios de Comunicação de grande circulação. Estes veículos, em geral, não priorizam temas que colaboram para a formação e o espírito crítico. A análise será focada nos jornais ditos populares, em especial o Super Notícia, periódico fundado em 2002, que se tornou o veículo impresso mais vendido no país, mas com circulação restrita aos municípios mineiros. A pertinência do assunto se dá já que os periódicos populares apresentam grande circulação e, muitas vezes, são a única fonte de leitura das chamadas classes subalternas. Para o estudo, utilizamos a Análise de Conteúdo. Entendemos que o espaço para o Jornalismo Comunitário é restrito, enquanto há ênfase em assuntos relacionados com o crime, os astros de TV e o futebol. No entanto, é preciso buscar este espaço e não apenas ficar no campo da crítica

Therapeutic opportunities within the DNA damage response

The DNA damage response (DDR) is essential for maintaining the genomic integrity of the cell, and its disruption is one of the hallmarks of cancer. Classically, defects in the DDR have been exploited therapeutically in the treatment of cancer with radiation therapies or genotoxic chemotherapies. More recently, protein components of the DDR systems have been identified as promising avenues for targeted cancer therapeutics. Here, we present an in-depth analysis of the function, role in cancer and therapeutic potential of 450 expert-curated human DDR genes. We discuss the DDR drugs that have been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) or that are under clinical investigation. We examine large-scale genomic and expression data for 15 cancers to identify deregulated components of the DDR, and we apply systematic computational analysis to identify DDR proteins that are amenable to modulation by small molecules, highlighting potential novel therapeutic targets
