    Quantum correlations and Nash equilibria of a bi-matrix game

    Playing a symmetric bi-matrix game is usually physically implemented by sharing pairs of 'objects' between two players. A new setting is proposed that explicitly shows effects of quantum correlations between the pairs on the structure of payoff relations and the 'solutions' of the game. The setting allows a re-expression of the game such that the players play the classical game when their moves are performed on pairs of objects having correlations that satisfy the Bell's inequalities. If players receive pairs having quantum correlations the resulting game cannot be considered another classical symmetric bi-matrix game. Also the Nash equilibria of the game are found to be decided by the nature of the correlations.Comment: minor correction

    Illness perceptions of Libyans with T2DM and their influence on medication adherence: a study in a diabetes center in Tripoli.

    BackgroundThe surrounding environment influences the constitution of illness perceptions. Therefore, local research is needed to examine how Libyan diabetes patients perceive diabetes and how their perceptions influence their medication adherence.MethodsA cross-sectional study was conducted at the National Centre for Diabetes and Endocrinology in Tripoli, Libya, between October and December 2013. A total of 523 patients with type 2 diabetes participated in this study. A self-administered questionnaire was used for data collection; this included the Revised Illness Perception Questionnaire and the eight-item Morisky Medication Adherence Scale.ResultsThe respondents showed moderately high personal control and treatment control perceptions and a moderate consequences perception. They reported a high perception of diabetes timeline as chronic and a moderate perception of the diabetes course as unstable. The most commonly perceived cause of diabetes was Allah's will. The prevalence of low medication adherence was 36.1%. The identified significant predictors of low medication adherence were the low treatment control perception (p=0.044), high diabetes identity perception (p=0.008), being male (p=0.026), and employed (p=0.008).ConclusionDiabetes illness perceptions of type 2 diabetic Libyans play a role in guiding the medication adherence and could be considered in the development of medication adherence promotion plans

    A Bayesian game is a game of incomplete information in which the rules of the game are not fully known to all players. We consider the Bayesian game of Battle of Sexes that has several Bayesian Nash equilibria and investigate its outcome when the underlying probability set is obtained from generalized Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen experiments.     Pelabuhan Perikanan Banjarmasin (UPTD dibawah binaan Dinas Perikanan dan Kelautan Kalimantan Selatan) mempunyai salah satu tugas pokok dan fungsi untuk memproduksi hasil tangkapan ikan dari kapal-kapal nelayan dan mendistribusikannya ke berbagai daerah untuk dipasarkan dalam setiap bulannya. Hasil pemasaran ini nantinya akan digunakan Pemerintah Daerah untuk meningkatkan Pendapatan Asli Daerah (PAD) dari provinsi itu sendiri. Permasalahan yang ada adalah jumlah produksi ikan ini umumnya tidak menentu pada setiap bulannya yang mungkin juga dapat berdampak pada kegiatan utama lainnya, seperti penyaluran es pendingin, penyediaan air bersih, dan kegiatan lainnya yang berkaitan dengan proses produksi. Hal seperti ini merupakan permasalahan lumrah dalam bidang peramalan, yaitu ketidakpastian suatu keadaan apabila dilihat fakta-fakta history yang telah lalu. Oleh karena itu, penulis mencoba mencari solusi dengan penggunaan metode peramalan ANN untuk melihat sistemasi dari kegiatan produksi pada instansi ini. Artificial Neural Network (ANN) merupakan sebuah sistem pemrosesan data dengan meniru cara kerja sistem saraf manusia. ANN merupakan sebuah sistem yang terdiri atas banyak elemen pemrosesan sederhana yang terhubung secara paralel. Backpropagation Neural Network (BPNN) dikatakan memiliki kelebihan dalam aspek pembelajaran sistem (adaptive) dan memiliki resiko kesalahan kecil (fault tolerance) terhadap pemecahan masalah. Diharapkan dari hasil penelitian ini didapatkan model, output, hasil analisis, dan aplikasi peramalan produksi ikan yang dapat digunakan oleh instansi terkait untuk memprediksi variabel produksi ikan pada periode-periode berikutnya

    The Impact of Micro-credit on Employment : Evidence from Bangladesh and Pakistan

    This paper examines the impact of micro-credit on employment. Household-level data was collected, following a quasi-experimental design, in Bangladesh and Pakistan. Three borrower groups are compared: Current borrowers; Pipeline borrowers and Non-borrowers. Pipeline borrowers are included to control for self-selection effects. It is argued that micro-credit causes a substitution of employment away from employment-for-pay to self-employment. Therefore, the effect on total employment is ambiguous. OLS and fixed effects regression are used to examine separately self-employment and employment-for-pay between three groups of borrowers. For Pakistan, there is no evidence that micro-credit effects employment. However, for Bangladesh, there is robust evidence consistent with this hypothesis

    Quantum correlation games

    A new approach to play games quantum mechanically is proposed. We consider two players who perform measurements in an EPR-type setting. The payoff relations are defined as functions of correlations, i.e. without reference to classical or quantum mechanics. Classical bi-matrix games are reproduced if the input states are classical and perfectly anti-correlated, that is, for a classical correlation game. However, for a quantum correlation game, with an entangled singlet state as input, qualitatively different solutions are obtained. For example, the Prisoners' Dilemma acquires a Nash equilibrium if both players apply a mixed strategy. It appears to be conceptually impossible to reproduce the properties of quantum correlation games within the framework of classical games
