    Get PDF
Abstract The aim of this study is to examine the mediating role of self-efficacy (SE) on the relationship between workplace envy and intention to quit. We expect that feelings of envy will be among the factors affecting the intention to quit that are frequently discussed in Organizational Behavior (OB) literature. In addition, to the best of our knowledge, the effects of SE on the relationship between envy and intention to leave have not been examined in the literature. In this study, we aim to fill the gap in the literature by revealing the possible effects of SE from a behavioral perspective. We conducted a survey of the academics of ten universities, randomly selected from five different geographical regions of Turkey. A total of 237 academics working at both state and foundation universities participated in the study. The SmartPLS package program, which is a multi-level structural equation modeling (SEM) application, was used in the analysis of the data. As a result of the analyses, we find that self-efficacy partially mediates the relationship between workplace envy and intention to quit. We expect that the results of the study will help researchers and managers who are interested in the subject to understand and manage the effects of workplace envy

    Get PDF
The World Health Organization (WHO) defines health system as comprising of all the organizations, resources, and institutions dedicated to improving health. Health systems have a responsibility not just to improve the health of the population they serve but to provide financial protection against the costs of illness and to respond to people’s expectation with dignity. Besides, healthcare satisfaction and consumer satisfaction have become the latest trend in measuring quality to have a competitive advantage or best practice in the healthcare industry. Over the past 30 years, consumer satisfaction has gained widespread recognition as a measure of quality in many services and become an attribute of quality, a legitimate and desired healthcare goal. The measurement of the quality of care gives information on the provider’s success at meeting patients’ values and expectations, which is an important tool for researchers, administrators, and planners to evaluate the system. The main objective of this study is to identify factors affecting patient satisfaction with the healthcare system as well as to examine the trends in patient satisfaction as a result of purposed major healthcare reforms under Turkish healthcare transformation. The quantitative analysis will also analyze the changes in patient satisfaction level by years and will try to find out how individual and country level factors are important for satisfaction with healthcare system of Turkey. This study will help to fill the gaps in our knowledge by examining factors that may be associated with patient satisfaction with the overall healthcare system. In this study, we would like to also investigate which factors play a role in determining patient vi satisfaction with the healthcare system. Based on these findings, healthcare providers and planners can focus to improve at least one component of health system performance responsivenes

Experiencing Cultural Heritage Through Gamification: Mardin orphanage

    Get PDF
This paper presents early-stage research about the role of gamification in experiencing cultural heritage strongly within the sociological context, specifically focusing on the transformation of the old orphanage located in the historical city center of Mardin. The study acknowledges the significance of the old orphanage as an architectural heritage exemplar, built of natural Mardin stone, situated within a unique historical and archaeological urban environment. However, it recognizes the challenges of preserving the building's heritage value, which necessitate surpassing the superficial restoration methods applied to adapt it into a hotel. The primary motivation of this research is to develop a method for creating a navigable and interactive virtual replica of the orphanage, centering on the processes and outcomes of transferring its heritage value. To achieve this, the paper initially outlines the documentation and analysis procedures employed, utilizing photogrammetry to capture the past and current states of the orphanage. Subsequently, participants engage with a gamified and realistic digital replica of the orphanage, involving task-based interactions and scenario-based experiences. The paper concludes by presenting preliminary results concerning participant reactions to the initial virtual model, delivered through a VR device. By raising awareness about the significance of restoring and preserving historical heritage, this study aims to positively impact the domains of tourism, education, and conservation. Furthermore, it intends to shed light on future research opportunities in the field of digital cultural heritage.International Technological Universit

Abstract. Digital signature is a mechanism that is becoming widespread in the world thanks to its efficiency in electronic environments. The main purpose of the research is to reveal the variables that affect the perception and behaviors of the users using the digital signature system with technology acceptance models to determine the degree of impact of each variable and conceptualize these variables under a structural model. In this regard, 463 questionnaires collected from academic and administrative personnel working at Ataturk and Gümüşhane universities were analyzed. According to analysis results, anxiety has a negative impact on perceived usefulness. It has been obtained that perceived usefulness has a positive effect on attitude, and perceived ease of use does not have a significant effect on attitude. In addition, in the adoption of digital signature technology, it has been seen that personnel actual use is affected by intention to use with a rate of 88.1%.Keywords. A Therapeutic and Diagnostic Dilemma: Granular Cell Tumor of the Breast

    Get PDF
Six to eight percent of granular cell tumors are seen in the breast. Although mostly benign, they rarely have malignant features clinically and radiologically reminding of breast cancer. This may lead to a potential misdiagnosis of breast carcinoma and overtreatment of patients. The final diagnosis is made by immunohistochemical examination. We performed excisional biopsy on a patient who was diagnosed to have a breast mass. The histopathological examination of the mass revealed granular cell tumor

Generic Construction of Trace and Revoke Schemes

Broadcast encryption (BE) is a cryptographic primitive that allows a broadcaster to encrypt digital content to a privileged set of users and in this way prevent revoked users from accessing the content. In BE schemes, a group of users, called traitor s may leak their keys and enable an adversary to receive the content. Such malicious users can be detected through traitor tracing (TT) schemes. The ultimate goal in a content distribution system would be combining traitor tracing and broadcast encryption (resulting in a trace and revoke system) so that any receiver key found to be compromised in a tracing process would be revoked from future transmissions. In this paper, we propose a generic method to transform a broadcast encryption scheme into a trace and revoke scheme. This transformation involves the utilization of a fingerprinting code over the underlying BE transmission. While fingerprinting codes have been used for constructing traitor tracing schemes in the past, their usage has various shortcomings such as the increase of the public key size with a linear factor in the length of the code. Instead, we propose a novel way to apply fingerprinting codes that allows for efficient parameters while retaining the traceability property. Our approach is based on a new property of fingerprinting codes we introduce, called public samplability. We have instantiated our generic transformation with the BE schemes of [4, 13, 20] something that enables us to produce trace and revoke schemes with novel properties. Specifically, we show (i) a trace and revoke scheme with constant private key size and short ciphertext size, (ii) the first ID-based trace and revoke scheme, (iii) the first publicly traceable scheme with constant private key size and (iv) the first trace and revoke scheme against pirate rebroadcasting attack in the public key setting

Evaluation of a remote-controlled laparoscopic camera holder for basic laparoscopic skills acquisition : a randomized controlled trial

Unsteady camera movement and poor visualization contribute to a difficult learning curve for laparoscopic surgery. Remote-controlled camera holders (RCHs) aim to mitigate these factors and may be used to overcome barriers to learning. Our aim was to evaluate performance benefits to laparoscopic skill acquisition in novices using a RCH. Novices were randomized into groups using a human camera assistant (HCA) or the FreeHand v1.0 RCH and trained in the (E-BLUS) curriculum. After completing training, a surgical workload questionnaire (SURG-TLX) was issued to participants. Forty volunteers naïve in laparoscopic skill were randomized into control and intervention groups (n = 20) with intention-to-treat analysis. Each participant received up to 10 training sessions using the E-BLUS curriculum. Competency was reached in the peg transfer task in 5.5 and 7.6 sessions for the ACH and HCA groups, respectively (P = 0.015), and 3.6 and 6.8 sessions for the laparoscopic suturing task (P = 0.0004). No significance differences were achieved in the circle cutting (P = 0.18) or needle guidance tasks (P = 0.32). The RCH group experienced significantly lower workload (P = 0.014) due to lower levels of distraction (P = 0.047). Remote-controlled camera holders have demonstrated the potential to significantly benefit intra-operative performance and surgical experience where camera movement is minimal. Future high-quality studies are needed to evaluate RCHs in clinical practice. ISRCTN 8373397
