Rheological behaviour of fruit and milk-based smoothies

Two of the most important food attributes for today´s fast-moving lifestyle are convenience and healthiness [1-2]. Fast-moving lifestyle specifically affects to elderly people, who are prone to bad-nutrition due to their dental status reducing the consumption of fruits and vegetables [3]. Smoothies are blended beverages, and good examples of convenient and healthy foods for helping to reduce this problem. So, they are gaining increasing market leverage in the beverage sector. Texture and rheological behaviour of foods can determine their acceptability. Therefore, added to nutritious features, smoothies must also account with outstanding mechanical properties. Stability of the products is also a main quality, which can be gained adding a small amount of stabiliser to beverage formulations. Solving multi-objective hub location problems by hybrid algorithms

In many logistic, telecommunications and computer networks, direct routing of commodities between any origin and destination is not viable due to economic and technolog- ical constraints. In that cases, a network with centralized units, known as hub facilities, and a small number of links is commonly used to connect any origin-destination pair. The purpose of these hub facilities is to consolidate, sort and transship e ciently any commodity in the network. Hub location problems (HLPs) consider the design of these networks by locating a set of hub facilities, establishing an interhub subnet, and routing the commodities through the network while optimizing some objective(s) based on the cost or service. Hub location has evolved into a rich research area, where a huge number of papers have been published since the seminal work of O'Kelly [1]. Early works were focused on analogue facility location problems, considering some assumptions to simplify network design. Recent works [2] have studied more complex models that relax some of these assumptions and in- corporate additional real-life features. In most HLPs considered in the literature, the input parameters are assumed to be known and deterministic. However, in practice, this assumption is unrealistic since there is a high uncertainty on relevant parameters, such as costs, demands or even distances. From it, some aspects are checked concerning the birth of the art as therapy and concerning the children’s drawing, specifi cally Winnicot’s contributions on special situations as the war. Finally, Regina Lago’s work in the epoch of the Spanish civil war is checked. Pinacoteca Psiquiátrica en España, 1917-1990

The exhibition Psychiatric Art gallery in Spain 1917-1990 presented in the University of Valencia in October, 2009 gathers more than three hundred artistic works of mental patients from particular and institutional collections who in the main have remained imprisoned in the psychiatric area and out of the cultural sphere. The psychiatrists’ interest like Gonzalo R. Lafora, Joan Obiols or Ramon Sarró have made possible the conservation of the works or of institutions as Ciempozuelos’s Hospital, that of Toen or Artists’ Plásticos Línea Parallel association between others. The look of the patients from his experience of the madness proves to be crossed by instants of beauty and suffering. They are capable of affecting with worrying, strange images and in turn familiar that they point at the sinister thing as something foreign and simultaneously daily, attractively and disturbing.La exposición Pinacoteca Psiquiátrica en España 1917-1990 presentada en la Universidad de Valencia en octubre de 2009 recoge más de trescientas obras artísticas de enfermos mentales provenientes de colecciones particulares e institucionales que en su mayoría han permanecido recluidas en el ámbito psiquiátrico y fuera de la esfera cultural. Heat transfer enhancement using nanofluids in the compression exchanger in a solar Stirling engine

In this paper a improvement in the heat exchange of a solar Stirling engine during the compression phase was studied. The viability of using nanoparticles as ceramic oxide (Al2O3 in water) at different concentrations instead of conventional refrigerants (water or air) was evaluated. Since these systems could behave as non- Newtonian fluids the dynamic viscosity was measured, as well as other thermophysical properties. The results showed that the convective heat transfer coefficient could raise one order of magnitude respect to the conventional heat transfer fluids at moderately volume fractions (over 0.15).Universidad de Málaga. Characterization and thermophysical properties of rutile and alumina nanofluids

The characterization in relation to shape and particle size of alumina and rutile suspensions was performed. The intrinsic viscosity exhibited the presence of nonspherical aggregates in both suspensions although TEM images showed non monodisperse spherical shape of alumina particles. DLS indicated the existence of particle aggregates for both systems. In all cases, the increase in thermal conductivity with respect to the base fluid is verified. The thermal conductivities obtained experimentally were compared with three mathematical models, which yielded lower values than those measured. From rheological measurements and by means of the Peclet number defined in colloidal suspensions, values of thermal conductivity were also proposed.Universidad de Málaga.
