After МЕР those correlations became very week and aroused new strong correlation with the virtue of sensitiveness to others. The МЕР did not change internal links between the virtues of joyfulness, self-confidence and honesty being in strong correlation before МЕР. On the basics of the research carried out we have made the main following conclusions: the moral adapted physical educational program influenced the significant changes in most of the virtues; only the honesty was unchanged at all despite the using of МЕР; the МЕР induced the qualitative changes in the perceived internal conception of some moral virtues

The Vilnius Calvary complex consisting of 35 stations established in Verkiai in the 17th century consisted of a church, 23 chapels, one brick gate and seven wooden gates. The images painted inside were renewed numerous times back in the 19th century. The chapels underwent renovation again in 1925-1927 and 1933-1934, when they were repainted and certain compositions were painted anew. In line with the Soviet goal of eliminating the Catholic tradition, in 1962-1963 a majority of the chapels were blown up. The paintings from these exploded chapels were for a long time considered to be lost or destroyed, some could have found their way to the Atheism Museum, some were given to the Lithuanian Art Museum (now known as the Lithuanian National Museum of Art) before being returned to the Church of the Discovery of the Holy Cross in 2014. The current state of the paintings is critical. On July 13-30, 2020, restorers from the easel painting workshop of the Pranas Gudynas Centre for Restoration Teresė Blažiūnienė, Daiva Petrauskaitė, Paula Mickutė and Algimantas Vaineikis worked at the parish of the Church of the Discovery of the Holy Cross; by following a preventive conservation program, the paintings were prepared for display at the exhibition Sacred Vilnius: Pilgrimage from the Gates of Dawn to Kalvarija Way of the Cross

The article analyses the attitudes of pedagogues towards sustainable development by highlighting the links and significance of social, economic and ecological factors, the topicality and opportunities for integration for sustainable development provisions into educational process. The following questions are discussed. What is the attitude of modern pedagogues towards sustainable development? Do they fully perceive its significance? Are they ready physically and morally for firm steps? Do they possess sufficient amount of knowledge, skills and competences for implementation of ideas on sustainable development? What unexpected obstacles and difficulties can they face? 260 pedagogues of colleges, vocational training schools, secondary and primary schools of Klaipėda were surveyed in the course of the research. Sustainable development is related to long-term and stable economic growth, preservation of natural resources and environment and satisfaction of people’s main needs, whereas, ignorance of any of the aspects may have a negative impact on the balance of the ecosystem. Therefore, it can be claimed that all the factors, i.e. economic, ecological and social factors, are equally significant and important while seeking social welfare and security. For sustainable development, education is an alternative while seeking to avoid collapse of ecosystems, a great many of problems impeding the development of life quality for the modern and future generations. The majority of pedagogues tend to believe that education and constant public awareness-raising may determine sustainable development of society, therefore, the role of education is primary

Trends in adult education changes in the context of sustained development

    No full text
The article analyses the orientation of adult education to sustained development. Adult education can create proper conditions for sustained development, contributing to essential changes and taking initiative in implementing new ideas and nurturing societal power to change. Adult education change tendencies are related to two factors. First, orientation of adult education to sustained development, i.e. to educating abilities of people who learn throughout their lives: to solve problems creatively and critically, communicate and cooperate, manage their life and work actively, investigate and assess the obtained information critically, choose proper learning methods efficiently, relate economic and social advancement to culture. Second, adult education should be qualitative as it determines person's ambition of lifelong learning, provides the right to self-determination to individuals, contributes to self-actualisation, develops critically thinking skills and enables people to live in harmony with themselves and the surrounding environment. The performed empirical research provided the basis for the theoretical analysis which concluded that adult education has to meet learner's needs in the labour market and personal life and, what is more important, to solve important problems of modern life that are directly related to sustained development of the society. Analysis has been performed based on discussions during the project No. ESF/2004/2.5.0-K01-012

The positive attitude of people with and without disabilities towards their interrelations can create favorable psychosocial preconditions for optimal interrelations in the integrated social system. On the basis of the theoretical model, the article presents comparative data of a research which served as a basis for the model of psychosocial preconditions and possible obstacles for the integrated education of the disabled in Lithuania. Materials and methods: An anonymous survey was carried out. It included 393 teachers working in not integrated (276), integrated (15) and special (102) schools and 2471 children from the same schools (1958, 126 and 382, respectively). Statistical analysis was carried out using SAS. Results: About 57% of teachers from integrated and 93% from unintegrated comprehensive schools and the absolute majority of teachers from all types of schools (about 78%) had low or very low knowledge about the disabled. Both disabled and able-bodied schoolchildren showed positive feelings towards each other and were inclined to communicate among themselves. Many able-bodied schoolchildren (78%) as well as those with disabilities (68%) have little knowledge about the disabled. Conclusions: The practical value of the research is determined by: 1) the data which confirm a positive interpersonal relationship of schoolchildren with and without disabilities as well as their feelings towards each other, and 2) the data which propose that the general attitude of teachers from comprehensive schools to the integration of the disabled is positive and that they experience a great need for knowledge about the problems of the disabled
