    Analisis kecenderungan HIV/AIDS di Jawa Timur ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui prakiraan jumlah prevalensi, insidensi dan kematian karena AIDS. Analisis dilakukan dengan menggunakan software Epimodel dan sebagai pembandingnya digunakan regresi linier. Data yang dipakai adalah data sekunder dari Laporan Dinas Kesehatan Daerah Provinsi Jawa Timur Tahun 1997. Hasil dari analisis menunjukkan bahwa sampai tahun 2002, jumlah penderita baru masih meningkat (8 orang tiap tahun) dibanding tahun-tahun sebelumnya, dengan demikian berarti pertambahan jumlah penderita HIV kumulatif akan meningkat dengan cepat. Jumlah penderita HIV 5 tahun yang akan datang kurang lebih 2 kali jumlah penderita tahun 1997, sedangkan jumlah penderita AIDS kumulatif menjadi kurang lebih 5 kali lipat

    Penelitian ini telah dilaksanakan di Pusat Pelatihan Pertanian dan Pedesaan Swadaya (P4S) Citarasa Bogor pada bulan Juli 2004. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menduga respon seleksi bobot sapih, pada lima generasi yang akan datang dengan memperhitungkan efek in-breeding pada populasi terbatas. Data yang dianalisis berasal dari catatan bobot sapih sebanyak 93 catatan. Data berasal dari 93 ekor anak kambing PE, keturunan dari 20 ekor pejantan dan 62 ekor induk. Komponen ragam dan Nilai Heritabilitas diduga dengan menggunakan Animal Model, Maternal Genetic Effect dengan Restricted Maximum Likelihood (REML) program Variance Component Esti-mation-VCE 4.2 dan Nilai Pemuliaan diduga dengan Best Linier Unbiased Prediction (BLUP). Efek tetap yang dilibatkan dalam analisis adalah jenis kelamin, type kelahiran, paritas dan Tahun Musim. Hasil analisis data menunjukan nilai heritabitas sebesar 0,5 termasuk katagori tinggi. Nilai pemuliaan berkisar antara 2,09 kg sampai -1,90 kg. Respon seleksi bobot sapih pada generasi lima dengan memperhitungkan efek in-breeding pada alternatif pertama menggunakan jantan 16 ekor dan betina 16 ekor dengan intensitas seleksi 1,489 yaitu 5,993 kg. Pada alternatif kedua pada penggunaan jantan 2 ekor dan betina 40 ekor deng an intensitas seleksi 1,667 respon seleksi bobot sapih pada generasi lima dengan memperhitungkan efek in-breeding adalah 5,726 kg. Sedangkan pada alternatif ketiga pada penggunaan jantan 5 ekor dan betina 16 ekor, dengan intensitas seleksi 1,776 respon seleksi bobot sapih pada generasi lima dengan memperhitungkan efek in-breeding adalah 6,841 kg yang merupakan nilai tertinggi dari ketiga alternatif komposisi populasi ternak jantan dan betina. Berdasar dari hasil penelitian disarankan bahwa penggunaan alternatif ketiga akan lebih baik dan dapat sedikit menghindar dari efek in-breeding, terlebih lagi bila dipertimbangkan aspek ekonomi-nya.Kata kunci: Respon Seleksi, Intensitas Seleksi, Efek in-breeding, Kambing Peranakan Etawa (PE

    Gandarusa (Justicia gendarussa Burm.f.) is an Indonesian medicinal plant that has many benefits as drug and male contracetive. For industrial needs, Gandarusa must be available in large quantity. Hairy root culture is one of methode to produce phytochemistry compound. The objective of the study was to examine the effect of various density of Agrobacterium rhizogenes strain LB510 on hairy roots induction of gandarusa (Justicia gendarussa Burm.f.) leaf plant. Leaf explants were inoculated in MS liquid medium with various density of OD 600 = 0.1; 0.2; 0.3; 0.4; and 0.5. Explants were co-cultivated for 2 days on MS solid medium without any hormone then sub-cultured on MS solid medium containing antibiotic cefotaxim 300 ppm, in dark condition. The data were analyzed descriptively and statistically. The results showed that various density of Agrobacterium rhizogenes strain LB510 was affected the lenght of hairy roots induction of J. gendarussa Burm.f., but these was not effected toward lenght formation time and number of hairy root. The treatment of OD 600 0.2 was the best treatment for hairy root induction on Justicia gendarussa Burm. f. This data could be used for optimized the quality of methode of hairy root induction

    The chicken roaster has a function for roasting, by utilizing air for cooking it is considered more energy efficient than using charcoal completely. In the process, the charcoal used has weaknesses, such as the smoke produced and the preparation time is quite long. In addition, the food also becomes less hygienic and easy to burn. To overcome this, through community service activities, it is realized by making grills that are faster and easier by utilizing used waste. In the design, analysis is carried out to find out how far the usefulness of the tool according to the user. From the results of the questionnaire obtained three variables, namely the safety features of the tool and the ease of following the instructions for use which have a high index of 97%. For the next variable followed by tool design and color composition by 94%.Alat chicken roaster memiliki fungsi untuk memanggang, dengan memanfaatkan udara untuk memasak dinilai lebih hemat energi dari pada menggunakan arang dengan sepenuhnya. Dalam prosesnya arang yang digunakan memiliki kelemahan, seperti asap yang dihasilkan dan waktu persiapan yang cukup lama. Selain itu makanan juga menjadi kurang higienis dan mudah gosong. Untuk mengatasi hal tersebut, melalui kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat, direalisasikan dengan membuat alat pemanggang yang lebih cepat dan mudah dengan memanfaatkan limbah bekas. Pada perancangan dilakukan dianalisa untuk mengetahui sejauh mana kegunaan alat tersebut menurut pengguna. Dari hasil kuisioner didapatkan tiga variabel yaitu fitur kemanan alat dan kemudahan mengikuti petunjuk penggunaan memilik indeks yang tinggi 97%. Untuk variable selanjutnya diikuti oleh desain alat dan kompisisi warna sebesar 94%

The concept of urban farming provides a solution by creating green open land in the midst of dense urban buildings. Empowerment of students is a positive effort to realize the goal of Islamic boarding schools to equip students with religious knowledge and general knowledge.The objectives of this activity are: 1) To increase the knowledge and skills of the students in farming on limited land. 2) Provide knowledge about urban farming that can foster an entrepreneurial spirit in the students. 3) Creating a new source of income for the cottage at least from the results of urban farming that can be consumed by the residents of the Islamic boarding school so that they can save on shopping expenses. 4) Empowering productive economic activities in Islamic boarding schools.The implementation method is carried out through training for students, coaches and teachers at Ponpes El Yasmin Banjararum, Singosari, Malang.     Agrobacterium rhizogenes Mediated Hairy Root Induction in Justicia gendarussa Burm.f

    ABSTRACT Five strains of Agrobacterium rhizogenes (LB510, LB509, YMB072001, A4T, and ATCC 15834) were tested to determine their effects on the induction of hairy root on leaf explants of Justicia gendarussa Burm. f.. Leaf explants were sterilized, and then infected within liquid MS medium + sucrose containing A. rhizogenes OD600 = 0.1, for 20 minutes while being shaken gently by hand. Teh explant was co-cultivated on Murashige and Skoog (MS) solid medium at 25°C for 48 hours. After 48 hours of co- cultivation, explants were transferred to MS solid medium with the addition of 250 mg/L cefotaxim, and repeated 1-2 times. Observations were carried out during 6 weeks to observe the specified parameters. Data were analized by Kruskal-Wallis Test and followed by Mann-Whitney Test. All strains of A. rhizogenes were used in this study were able to produce hairy root. The treatment of LB510 and YMB072001 strain was the best strain in the hairy root induction of J. gendarussa Burm. f.. The infection frequency of LB510 strain was highest ( 100 % ), longest hairy root (2.23 cm), and highest of hairy root wet weight (0.0243 g). The treatment of YMB072001 strain was the highest number of hairy roots (3.3) per explant and the highest number of hairy roots dry weight (0.0098 g)

    The objective of this study was to identify the risk factors of pulmono tuberculosis related to housing covering the quality of walls, floor, ventilation, lighting, humidity and house occupant density. A case-control design was applied in this study with pulmono tuberculosis patients (78 cases)and their neighbours (non cases) having the same sex and age acting as control. Odds ratio calculation was applied to measure the strength of risk factors. with Mantel-Haenzel formula for significaney test (ct.&lt; 5%). The findings showed that the intensity of lighting of living room (OR= 5.16)and bed room (OR = 6.24); and glass­ roof-tile (OR = 5.22) on the bed room were identified as risk factors for pulmono tuberculosis incident. Based on those findings, it is suggested that every room should have glass-roof-tiles.   Keywords: Pulmono tuberculosis, housing, case-control, odds ratio
