Normal solution to the Enskog-Landau kinetic equation. Boundary conditions method

    Get PDF
Nonstationary and nonequilibrium processes are considered on the basis of an Enskog-Landau kinetic equation using a boundary conditions method. A nonstationary solution of this equation is found in the pair collision approximation. This solution takes into account explicitly the influence of long-range interactions. New terms to the transport coefficients are identified. An application of the boundary conditions method to hydrodynamic description of fast processes is discussed.Comment: 11 LaTeX pages using Elsevier format elsart.st

The results of the research show that the magnetic crops studied have sufficient difference in magnetic susceptibility for crude sludge treatment with dry magnetic separation methods

Exact solutions for equilibrium configurations of charged conducting liquid jets

A wide class of exact solutions is obtained for the problem of finding the equilibrium configurations of charged jets of a conducting liquid; these configurations correspond to the finite-amplitude azimuthal deformations of the surface of a round jet. A critical value of the linear electric charge density is determined, for which the jet surface becomes self-intersecting, and the jet splits into two. It exceeds the density value required for the excitation of the linear azimuthal instability of the round jet. Hence, there exists a range of linear charge density values, where our solutions may be stable with respect to small azimuthal perturbations.Comment: 7 pages, 5 figures, to appear in Physical Review

Enskog-Landau kinetic equation. Calculation of the transport coefficients for charged hard spheres

Using charged hard spheres model as an example, the dense one-component plasma is considered. For this model the Enskog-Landau kinetic equation is obtained and its normal solution is found using the Chapman-Enskog method. Transport coefficients are obtained numerically and analytically and compared with the experimental data available.Comment: 13 LaTeX209 pages, 4 figures (emline-format for LaTeX

D=2D=2 String Theory in Target Space/World-Sheet Light-Cone Gauge

D=2D=2 free string in linear dilaton background is considered in so called target space/world-sheet light cone gauge X+=0, g++=0, g+=1 X^{+}=0,~g_{++}=0,~g_{+-}=1. After gauge fixing the theory has the residual Virasoro and U(1)U(1) current symmetries. The physical spectrum related to SL2SL_2 invariant vacuum is found to be trivial. We find that the theory has a nontrivial spectrum if the states in different non-equivalent representations ("pictures") of CFT algebra of matter fields are considered.Comment: LATEX, 10 page

Phonon-mediated electron spin phase diffusion in a quantum dot

An effective spin relaxation mechanism that leads to electron spin decoherence in a quantum dot is proposed. In contrast to the common calculations of spin-flip transitions between the Kramers doublets, we take into account a process of phonon-mediated fluctuation in the electron spin precession and subsequent spin phase diffusion. Specifically, we consider modulations in the longitudinal g-factor and hyperfine interaction induced by the phonon-assisted transitions between the lowest electronic states. Prominent differences in the temperature and magnetic field dependence between the proposed mechanisms and the spin-flip transitions are expected to facilitate its experimental verification. Numerical estimation demonstrates highly efficient spin relaxation in typical semiconductor quantum dots.Comment: 5 pages, 1 figur
