    The influence of marketing research on logistic decisions in the air transport

    Given actions related to the air transport, we can surely conclude that the contemporary air services market is characterized by dynamic growth and development. A quick modification of factors responsible for smooth functioning requires implementation of actions aiming at increasing the quality of offered services by adapting them to the expectations of the air passengers to be taken on a more systematic basis. The above actions will bring effects only if we demonstrate our expert knowledge of the market and its needs. The market of air services in the 21st century faces strong competition. Therefore, in order to gain information about the factors, processes, and field phenomena, research must be conducted, as it constitutes the basic tool for the shaping of the air services industry. Marketing research conducted in the field of air transport based on a well-structured research scheme allows taking the right logistic decisions, which is the subject of this article

    The role of air freight transport in Polish economy

    Air transport is currently one of the major branches of transport both in national and global economies. It is one of the fastest, most expensive, but at the same time also most effec- tive types of transportation. It plays a very important role in global economy, particularly in transcontinental carriage of goods and passengers. Its availability and quality constitute a powerful driving force for country’s development. International trade dynamics and demand for transport services are growing year by year. Their growth factors may be seen in context of the rising volume of goods movement and average distances of journeys. They foster development of global logistics and global supply chains, consequently leading to further selection of streams of goods movement, thereby establishing a basis for the new economic order on a global scale. Operations of modern economies depend on an efficient flow of goods, services and capital between individual markets. Air transport is a key element in combining local markets with global markets, which in turn preconditions their growth. Air freight transport, both in Poland and worldwide, is seen mostly from the angle of long- distance passenger flights. Given that, one often tends to forget the role of this transport branch with regards to freight transport. Air cargo transport is a booming branch with great development potential. This, however, is related to considerable experience and knowledge on the part of both goods carriers and owners with regards to technical capacities of a given air- craft, maintenance costs, and rule awareness. The purpose of the following study is to draw attention to air cargo as a key freight transport branch and to analyse and evaluate its current situation, inclusive of its risks and barriers. The study endeavours to determine the role and meaning of air freight transport in Polish economy. In view of the vast scope of the subject, the issues in the study were elucidated mostly on the basis of existing airports

    Perception of Export Barriers at Different Stages of the Internatonalizaton Process - Evidence from European SMEs

    This paper explores the evolution of export barriers along the firm’s internationalization process. Based on a sample of 7,515 European SMEs, we investigate the differences perceived by different groups of firms: companies uninterested in exports, future exporters, pre-exporters, experimental exporters, involved exporters, active exporters, committed exporters and failed exporters. We study both external barriers (i.e. arising from the environment in home and foreign markets) and internal barriers (i.e. related to the company’s resource endowment, marketing and strategy). We find statistically significant differences between some of the studied groups, thus supporting the notion that the perception of internationalization barriers changes along the firm’s lifecycle.Artykuł podejmuje temat zmian w postrzeganiu barier eksportowych w toku procesu umiędzynarodowienia firmy. Na podstawie próby 7515 europejskich małych i średnich przedsiębiorstw, zbadano różnice w postrzeganiu barier przez różne grupy firm: przedsiębiorstwa niezainteresowane eksportem, przyszłych eksporterów, preeksporterów, sporadycznych eksporterów, zaangażowanych eksporterów, aktywnych eksporterów, zaawansowanych eksporterów oraz byłych eksporterów. Zbadano zarówno bariery zewnętrzne (tj. uwarunkowane sytuacją na rynku krajowym i na rynkach zagranicznych) jak i wewnętrzne (tj. związane z zasobami, strategią, działaniami marketingowymi firmy). Badanie wskazuje na istotne różnice pomiędzy częścią z analizowanych grup, dostarczając dowodów na to, że postrzeganie barier eksportowych zmienia się w kolejnych etapach internacjonalizacji

    The impact οf climate change οn air transport

    Purpose: The object of the research is the changing climate and its impact on air transport in Poland. The primary objective of the study was to present the most crucial elements of the air transport sector, vulnerable to the more and more frequent climate changes, and vulnerability indicators which allow to evaluate the impact of the change of climatic elements on the operation conditions of air transport. Design/Methodology/Approach: The research process was conducted in two major stages. The first step was to select and indicate elements vulnerable to climatic factors having a key impact on the decisions regarding the essential characteristics of the transport sector while presenting the vulnerability indicators. This was performed with the application of a diagnostic survey using the questionnaire tool. The survey was conducted among the passengers of Warsaw airports in the year 2017. Findings: The current warming of the climatic system entails measurable consequences which soon will have very costly and inevitable consequences both for air transport and economy in Europe and elsewhere, if no fast and firm corrective and remedial actions are taken. Practical Implications: Climate change presents a considerable global threat. The overwhelming majority of recent scientific research and climate change reports confirm that current global warming is the result of human activities. Climate has already started to change, and it is evident that the rate of change is increasing. It has begun to affect air transport, i.e., one of the transport branches most vulnerable to climatic changes. Its sensitivity to climatic conditions should be viewed in relation to three basic elements: infrastructure, means of transport, and social comfort. Appropriate operation of the transport sector, in turn, may be guaranteed only if climatic factors are considered. Originality/Value: Indication of the most crucial elements of the air transport sector, vulnerable to the more and more frequent climate changes, and vulnerability indicators which allow to evaluate the impact of the change of climatic elements on the conditions of operation of air transport.peer-reviewe

Coraz częściej porty lotnicze postrzegane są przez pryzmat wzrostu ekonomicznego czy też źródła nowych miejsc pracy. W niniejszym opracowaniu omówiona została geneza powstania Portu Lotniczego Warszawa-Modlin. Przedstawiono popyt na przewozy pasażerskie wraz z perspektywą ich rozwoju. Podstawowym celem opracowania było przedstawienie roli portu lotniczego Warszawa Modlin w systemie polskiego transportu powietrznego.The second half of the 20th century witnessed a dynamic growth of the global sector of air transport services. Nowadays, airports constitute an essential component of transport infrastructure and one of the symbols of modern economies. More and more often, airports are viewed from the perspective of economic growth, or as a source of employment. This study includes a genesis of Warsaw-Modlin Airport, demand for passengers’ transport, and an outlook for development.     Oil saving in air transport

    The first serious oil crisis, which had a big influence on the functioning of air transport, took place over forty years ago. Since then one has been observing a significant technological development, and a rise in the potential of decreasing the energy cost, but the system of transport has remained unchanged. Even though transport in general, has become more energy- saving, 96% of the energy needs in the European Union still depends on crude oil and mineral oil products. In 2010 the European Union imported oil for about 210 bln EUR. The lack of a solution concerning the dependence of air transport on oil can affect the citizens’ opportunity to travel and the safety of the economy. Bearing this in mind it is worth asking some questions. Are there any ways to decrease the consumption of oil in air transport? To what degree can alternative solutions influence crude oil saving in air transport

    Logistics development in European countries : the case of Poland

    Purpose: The purpose of the article is to show the diversity of logistics development in European countries at the national and regional level, taking into account the countries of Western, Central and Eastern Europe. The focus is on the development of logistics in Poland, a country with a special location in Europe between Germany, the leader in European and global logistics, and Russia. Design/Methodology/Approach: Research includes changes in the volume of freight transport by air, rail, road and sea in 33 countries in 2010-2018. Spatiotemporal analysis of statistical data with the use of GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and ArcMap 10.5 is proposed. Findings: Logistics in Europe is strongly diversified in national and regional terms. In most countries, logistics developed for all modes of transport during the period considered. The development of the logistics system in Poland mainly involved road, rail and sea transport. Air transport of goods increased to a lesser extent. The integration process of Central and Eastern European logistics with German logistics is visible. Practical Implications: The contribution of the research is to show the general interrelationships between logistics policy and initiatives at the national level and changes in the volume of freight transport across the most important transport branches. Originality/Value: Use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to represent the changes occurring in logistics in Europe.     Czy faktycznie mamy do czynienia z nowymi uprawnieniami kontrolnymi radnych samorządowych?

    On 11 January 2018, the Act on amending certain acts in order to increase the participation of citizens in the process of selecting, functioning and control of certain public authorities was passed. The legislator decided that the new legal regulations in the local government system laws were to lead to an increase in the participation of citizens in the process of control and functioning of public authorities, thus, also of local government authorities. In addition, it was to contribute to an increase in the role of local communities in the process of electing bodies coming from general elections, as well as in the control of this process and the bodies responsible for the preparation and holding of elections. Among the “new” legal solutions that have come into force in the current term of the local government authorities (2018–2023), one should distinguish those thanks to which the scope of control powers of local councillors has been extended. These include, first of all, the right to obtain information and materials, access to the premises where these information and materials are located, and access to the activities of the local government office, as well as companies with the participation of local government units, commercial companies with the participation of local government legal entities, legal persons, as well as establishments, enterprises and other local government organizational units, in compliance with the provisions on legally protected secrecy, secondly, the right to address interpellations and inquiries to the village mayor (mayor, city president), starost or voivodeship marshal, thirdly, the obligation to establish a complaint committee, motions and petitions in order to consider complaints about the activities of the executive body and local government organizational units, as well as motions and petitions submitted by citizens.W dniu 11 stycznia 2018 r. została uchwalona ustawa o zmianie niektórych ustaw w celu zwiększenia udziału obywateli w procesie wybierania, funkcjonowania i kontrolowania niektórych organów publicznych. Ustawodawca zdecydował, że nowe regulacje prawne w ustrojowych ustawach samorządowych mają doprowadzić do zwiększenia udziału obywateli w procesie kontrolowania oraz funkcjonowania organów władzy publicznej, a więc także organów władzy samorządowej. Ponadto mają przyczynić się do zwiększenia roli społeczności lokalnych w procesie wybierania organów pochodzących z wyborów powszechnych i w kontroli tego procesu oraz organów odpowiadających za przygotowanie i przeprowadzenie wyborów. Pośród „nowych” rozwiązań prawnych, jakie zaczęły obowiązywać w obecnej kadencji władz samorządowych (2018–2023), należy wskazać te, dzięki którym rozszerzony został zakres uprawnień kontrolnych radnych samorządowych. Zalicza się do nich: 1) prawo do: uzyskiwania informacji i materiałów; wstępu do pomieszczeń, w których znajdują się te informacje i materiały; wglądu w działalność urzędu jednostek samorządu terytorialnego, a także spółek z udziałem jednostek samorządu terytorialnego, spółek handlowych z udziałem samorządowych osób prawnych, samorządowych osób prawnych oraz zakładów, przedsiębiorstw i innych samorządowych jednostek organizacyjnych, z zachowaniem przepisów o tajemnicy prawnie chronionej; 2) prawo kierowania interpelacji i zapytań do wójta (burmistrza, prezydenta miasta), starosty bądź marszałka województwa; 3) obowiązek powołania komisji skarg, wniosków i petycji celem rozpatrywania skarg na działania organu wykonawczego i samorządowych jednostek organizacyjnych, a także wniosków i petycji składanych przez obywateli

    The article is a report of predictive testing, conducted as part of the assessment of world's petroleum resources. One aspect of the depletion of oil resources and reduction ofthe supply of jet fuel is a systematic increase in the cost of air transport and the increased unavailability for most users of the transport. The study raises a number of proposals to mitigate crisis in air transport. The most important ones are discussed in this article and include the following areas: non-renewable petroleum strategic resource; Air Transport in the background of the global oil crisis; easing of restrictions and the effects of oil crisis in the operation of air transport.The conclusions presented in the work could have implications for strategic decision-making in the use of air transport.Publikacja znajduje się na liście MNiSW w części B: 8 pktArtykuł jest sprawozdaniem z badań prognostycznych, prowadzonych w ramach oceny światowych zasobów paliwowych.
