Influencia de la profundidad de estratificación de estacas de vid sobre su capacidad de enraizamiento

The influence of the depth of stratification of Vitis vinífera L. cv. Malbeck cuttings were studied in relation to their rooting capacity. The trial was carried out under field condition at 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 cm depth. The moisture and temperature of the soil were determined at said depth weekly and daily (3 times a day) respectively, during 63 days, time duration of the trial. It was found that the best rooting capacity of those cuttings was obtained when strati­fied between 20 and 50 cm depth. The oxigen tension at said depth, according to the author, favours the early growth of the buds. Being the huds the main source of auxins and other factors of rooting, they promote the best rizogenesis.Se estudia la influencia que tiene la profundidad de estratificación en estacas de Vitis vinifera cv. Malbeck sobre la ulterior capacidad de enraizamiento. El ensayo se llevó a cabo en condiciones naturales de campo, a profundidades de 5, 10, 20, 50 y 100 cm, determinándose semanalmente la humedad edáfica para cada una de ellas; la temperatura se determinó tres veces por día durante los 63 días que duró la experiencia. Se encontró que las estacas estratificadas entre 20 y 50 cm de profundidad manifiestan la máxima capacidad de enraizamiento. Linfoma primario de pulmón en un paciente con sida

Extranodal involvement is common in lymphomas associated with human immunodeficiency virus infection (HIV) and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). However, primary pulmonary AIDS-related non-Hodgkin's lymphoma is very rare and only few reports were published in the medical literature. Clinical presentation is nonspecific, with "B" and respiratory symptoms. Also, patients were with advanced immunodeficiency at the time of diagnosis. Generally, chest radiography showed peripheral nodules or cavitary masses. Primary pulmonary lymphoma associated with AIDS is generally a high-grade B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma and Epstein-Barr virus is strongly associated with the pathogenesis of these tumors. We report a patient with AIDS and primary pulmonary lymphoma which clinical presentation was a total atelectasis of the left lung.El compromiso extranodal es frecuente en los linfomas asociados con la enfermedad debida al virus de la inmunodeficiencia humana y su consecuencia, el síndrome de inmunodeficiencia adquirida. Sin embargo, el linfoma pulmonar primario es muy raro y solo existen pocos casos publicados en la literatura. La presentación clínica de esta complicación es inespecífica, con síntomas "B" y manifestaciones respiratorias. Generalmente, la radiografía de tórax muestra nódulos periféricos o masas que pueden cavitarse y los pacientes presentan inmunodeficiencia severa al momento del diagnóstico. El linfoma pulmonar primario asociado con el sida es un tumor de alto grado, de células B y asociado en su patogenia con el virus de Epstein-Barr. Psychological interventions for acute psychiatric inpatients with schizophrenia-spectrum disorders: A systematic review and meta-analysis

BACKGROUND: Acute inpatient psychiatric wards are important yet challenging environments in which to implement psychological interventions for people with schizophrenia-spectrum disorders. No meta-analysis to date has evaluated whether psychological interventions are effective in this context. METHODS: We systematically searched Embase, Medline and PsycInfo databases for randomised controlled trials (RCTs) of psychological interventions implemented in acute inpatient psychiatric settings with individuals with schizophrenia-spectrum disorders. We conducted random effects meta-analyses of between-groups outcomes at post-intervention and relapse/re-hospitalisation rates by follow-up. RESULTS: Twenty-nine trials were suitable for meta-analysis. Psychological interventions improved post-intervention positive symptoms, social functioning and treatment compliance and reduced the risk of relapse/ re-hospitalisation, relative to control conditions. Analyses of specific intervention effects found positive effects of psychoeducation on several key outcomes (power > 80%) and preliminary evidence for positive effects of acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) and metacognitive training (MCT) on some outcomes (power < 80%). CONCLUSION: Psychological interventions can be helpful for acute inpatients with schizophrenia-spectrum disorders. However, risk of bias was often high or unclear, and some analyses were underpowered. Further research should use more rigorous RCT designs and publish meta-analysable data on positive symptoms, general psychopathology, relapse/ re-hospitalisation, social functioning and treatment compliance

Linfoma não-Hodgkin primário do fígado em paciente com SIDA

Non-Hodgkin's lymphomas (NHL) are the second most frequent malignancies in AIDS patients. The majority of NHL associated with AIDS involves extranodal sites, especially the digestive tract and the central nervous system. Primary liver lymphoma (PLL) is an uncommon neoplasm among these patients. Ultrasonography and computed tomography scans may be helpful in the diagnosis of focal hepatic lymphoma. Image-guided fine-needle biopsy with histopathology of the liver lesions is the gold standard for the diagnosis of hepatic lymphoma. We report a case of PLL as the initial manifestation of AIDS in a patient without any previous infection by hepatitis C or B virus, presented as multiple and large hepatic masses.Os linfomas não-Hodgkin (LNH) são as segundas neoplasias mais freqüentes nos pacientes com síndrome da imunodeficiência adquirida (SIDA). A maioria dos LNH associados à AIDS envolvem locais extra-ganglionares, especialmente o trato digestivo e o sistema nervoso central. O linfoma não-Hodgkin primário do fígado (LPF) é uma neoplasia incomum nestes pacientes. A ultrassonografia (US) e a tomografia computadorizada (TC) podem ser úteis no diagnóstico de linfoma não-Hodgkin hepático apresentando-se como lesões multifocais. A biópsia com agulha fina guiada por imagens (US, TC) juntamente com a histopatologia das lesões do fígado constitui o padrão-ouro para o diagnóstico de linfoma hepático. Este trabalho relata um caso de LPF como manifestação inicial de AIDS em um paciente sem infecção prévia pelo vírus da hepatite C e B, que se apresentou como massas hepáticas múltiplas e de grandes dimensões
