Jewish Philosophy and Education: Thinking Argentina?s Diaspora from the theology of Franz Rozenzweig

    Get PDF
Latin American Jewish philosophy requires us to rethink the categories of Philosophy and Judaism. In order to articulate these two dimensions it is necessary to understand that Jewish philosophy must start from the attributes of the Jewish tradition. The matter of the education and Jewishness comes from the beginning of Judaism. Throughout the Twentieth Century, the Diaspora in Modern States acquired its peculiarities in relation to these two dimensions, education and Jewishness. Both aspects have been developed in the work of Franz Rosenzweig, one the most important Jewish philosophers of the century. The main goal of this paper is to rethink the core of Rosenzweig?s thought and his dialogues with Martin Buber and Hermann Cohen. Therefore, we will be able to explain the diaspora?s peculiarities in relation to Jewish identity and education in Latin America, especially in Argentina.Fil: Taub, Emmanuel. Learning about common and private values in oligopoly

    Get PDF
We characterize a duopoly buffeted by demand and cost shocks. Firms learn about shocks from common observation, private observation, and noisy price signals. Firms internalize how outputs affect a rival's signal, and hence output. We distinguish how the nature of information —public versus private—and of what firms learn about—common versus private values—affect equilibrium outcomes. Firm outputs weigh private information about private values by more than common values. Thus, prices contain more information about private-value shocks

Multiply Warped Products with Non-Smooth Metrics

In this article we study manifolds with C0C^{0}-metrics and properties of Lorentzian multiply warped products. We represent the interior Schwarzschild space-time as a multiply warped product space-time with warping functions and we also investigate the curvature of a multiply warped product with C0C^0-warping functions. We given the {\it{Ricci curvature}} in terms of f1f_1, f2f_2 for the multiply warped products of the form $M=(0,\ 2m)\times_{f_1}R^1\times_{f_2} S^2$.Comment: LaTeX, 7 page

On the sources of static plane symmetric vacuum space-times

The static vacuum plane spacetimes are considered, which have two non-trivial solutions: The Taub solution and the Rindler solution. Imposed reflection symmetry, we find that the source for the Taub solution does not satisfy any energy conditions, which is consistent with previous studies, while the source for the Rindler solution satisfies the weak and strong energy conditions (but not the dominant one). It is argued that the counterpart of the Einstein theory to the gravitational field of a massive Newtonian plane should be described by the Rindler solution, which represents also a uniform gravitational field

A flexible CPW package for a 30 GHz MMIC amplifier

A novel package, which consists of a carrier housing, has been developed for monolithic-millimeter wave Integrated Circuit amplifiers which operate at 30 giga-Hz. The carrier has coplanar waveguide (CPW) interconnects and provides heat-sinking, tuning, and cascading capabilities. The housing provides electrical isolation, mechanical protection and a feed-thru for biasing

A 1-W, 30-ghz, CPW Amplifier for ACTS Small Terminal Uplink

    Get PDF
The progress is described of the development of a 1 W, 30 GHz, coplanar waveguide (CPW) amplifier for the Advanced Communication Technology Satellite (ACTS)Small Terminal Uplink. The amplifier is based on Texas Instruments' monolithic microwave integrated circuit (MMIC) amplifiers; a three stage, low power amplifier, and a single stage, high power amplifier. The amplifiers have a power output of 190 mW and 0.710 W, gain of 23 and 4.2 dB, and efficiencies of 30.2 and 24 percent for the three stage and one stage amplifiers, respectively. The chips are to be combined via a CPW power divider/combiner circuit to yield the desired 1 W of output power

Infinite slabs and other weird plane symmetric space-times with constant positive density

We present the exact solution of Einstein's equation corresponding to a static and plane symmetric distribution of matter with constant positive density located below z=0z=0. This solution depends essentially on two constants: the density ρ\rho and a parameter κ\kappa. We show that this space-time finishes down below at an inner singularity at finite depth. We match this solution to the vacuum one and compute the external gravitational field in terms of slab's parameters. Depending on the value of κ\kappa, these slabs can be attractive, repulsive or neutral. In the first case, the space-time also finishes up above at another singularity. In the other cases, they turn out to be semi-infinite and asymptotically flat when zz\to\infty. We also find solutions consisting of joining an attractive slab and a repulsive one, and two neutral ones. We also discuss how to assemble a "gravitational capacitor" by inserting a slice of vacuum between two such slabs.Comment: 8 page
