A methodology for the development of a sustainability index for construction works in Spain

The present paper tries to describe in a systematic way the process followed to develop a methodology to obtain a Sustainable Index for Construction Works in Spain. Given the complexity of the task at hand, and having into account that this is the first attempt within the Spanish construction sector to create an integrating index, the description of the process becomes indispensable in order to replicate the index in a different context –e.g. another European country-. On the other hand, the development of an index with a triple focus -economic, environmental and social-, transcending the interests of the different activities which coexist inside this sector, and joining efforts towards a common objective fills an existing gap in the Spanish construction sector, as it will be shown. The proposed index aims at establishing, on a permanent basis, a common reference for the assessment of sustainability within this sector, to the improvement of which all parties involved could and should contribute

Experimentação investigativa em química no ensino médio e suas potencialidades para o exercício da argumentação e um ensino centrado no aluno

A pesquisa em educação em Ciências vem recomendando atenção às práticas ar-gumentativas. O desafio é buscar atividades que estimulem esse tipo de prática para que os alunos falem Ciência, pois isso é considerado benéfico à compreensão con-ceitual e proporciona aos alunos a capacidade de pensar criticamente em um con-texto científico. Neste trabalho de doutorado, é discutido como 20 atividades com experimentos investigativos em Química podem promover a argumentação em alu-nos do Ensino Médio no laboratório de Química do Colégio Politécnico da Universi-dade Federal de Santa Maria. Esse tipo de abordagem experimental oferece aos alunos a oportunidade de aprender e apreciar o processo da Ciência. As atividades foram categorizadas de acordo com o nível de proximidade à uma atividade investi-gativa e também com seu grau de abertura. Os discursos durante as atividades fo-ram analisados a fim de identificar argumentos, segundo o padrão de argumentação de Toulmin. O estudo mostrou que a experimentação investigativa pode ser uma plataforma eficaz para estimular a produção de argumentos. Atividades com maior nível de investigação e abertura tiveram um impacto maior na produção de argumen-tos, especialmente os mais ricos, de acordo com a ferramenta de análise escolhida no estudo.Research in Science Education has been recommending attention to argumentative practices. The challenge is to look for activities that can stimulate this type of practice so that the students talk science, since it is considered to be beneficial to conceptual understanding and provide students with the ability to think critically in a scientific context. In this doctoral dissertation, it is discussed how 20 activities with inquiry-type experiments in Chemistry can promote argumentation in high school students in the Chemistry laboratory of Colégio Politécnico da Universidade Federal de Santa Maria. This kind of experimentation approach give the students the opportunity to learn and appreciate the process of science. The activities were categorized according to the level of proximity to an investigative activity and also their degree of openness. The discourses during the activities were analyzed in order to identify arguments, accord-ing to Toulmin's argument pattern. The study showed that inquiry experimentation can be an effective platform to stimulate the production of arguments. Activities with a higher level of inquiry and openness had a greater impact on the production of ar-guments, especially those richer, according to the analysis tool chosen in the study

Intraosseous mandibular hemangioma : a case report and review of the literature

Intraosseous vascular lesions are rare conditions, comprising only 0.5% to 1% of all intraosseous tumors. They mainly occur in the second decade of life especially in women. The most common locations are the vertebral column and skull; nevertheless, the mandible is a quite rare location. According to the World Health Organization, hemangiomas are benign vasoformative neoplasms of endothelial origin. However, the origin of central hemangioma is debatable. Some authors believe that it is a true neoplasm, whereas others state it is a hamartomatous lesion. Clinically, the patient may be completely symptom-free or may present discomfort, pulsatile bleeding, bluish discoloration, mobile teeth, derangement of the arch form or accelerated dental exfoliation. Most frequently radiographic finding is a multilocular radiolucent image with honeycombs or soap bubble appearance. Differential diagnosis includes neoplasms such as ameloblastoma, cystic lesions such as residual cyst, keratocyst and fibro-osseous lesions such as fibrous dysplasia. There are some therapeutic alternatives, although wide surgical excision remains as the gold standard. We now present a case report of a 51-year-old woman diagnosed in a mandibular hemangioma. Clinical, radiological and histological features of this unusual tumor are described

Direitos humanos à saúde na perspectiva de pessoas em situação de rua

A existência de pessoas em situação de rua mostra que existem contradições na nossa sociedade, visto que a seguridade social é um direito constitucional, assegurando a saúde como direito de todos e dever do Estado. Com base nessas informações, este trabalho tem como objetivo conhecer a perspectiva da população em situação de rua a respeito dos direitos humanos à saúde. Trata-se de um estudo qualitativo, exploratório descritivo, que utilizou dados da pesquisa “Narrativas de cuidado de “usuários de drogas”: Um estudo Etnográfico na rua e suas Territorialidades (SILVA, 2018). A pesquisa foi realizada na cidade de Porto Alegre, com 4 participantes, considerados interlocutores, que moram ou tiveram a experiência de viver na rua por pelo menos um ano e maiores de idade. A coleta de dados foi realizada a partir da análise das transcrições das entrevistas com os interlocutores e diário de campo de Silva (2018). Após a leitura das transcrições e dos diários de campo, agrupou-se dados sobre o entendimento acerca dos direitos humanos à saúde para a população em situação de rua, sendo classificados em categorias temáticas. Este projeto de pesquisa foi encaminhado para a Comissão de Pesquisa da Escola de Enfermagem da UFRGS (COMPESQ) para aprovação e registro, denominado projeto de pesquisa n° 36988, aprovado em 28 de maio de 2019 (ANEXO D).O projeto original denominado “Narrativas de cuidado de usuários de drogas: Um estudo Etnográfico na rua e suas Territorialidades” de Aline Basso da Silva, 2018, foi aprovado pelo Comitê de Ética em Pesquisa da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (CEP/UFRGS) sob o Parecer n. 1.802.718, CAAE n° 57623916.2.0000.5347. A partir desse trabalho foi possível perceber que para a população em situação de rua, ter direitos humanos à saúde é ter condições básicas para sobrevivência na rua e ser reconhecida enquanto cidadão, sendo respeitados quanto as suas diferenças e cultura, combatendo o estigma, bem como participar de grupos políticos que fortalecem sua identidade: Movimento Nacional População em Situação de Rua e Jornal Boca de Rua

A Sustainable Index for Construction Works in Spain

Spain, along with the rest of the countries integrated into the European Union, is deeply committed to the promotion of policies aiming at a greater balance among economic, social and environmental aspects. Nevertheless, despite all the efforts already undertaken in our country in this respect, the results so far, according to the report "Sustainability in Spain 2006: brief synthesis" published by the Observatory of Sustaínability in Spain, dependent on the Ministry of Environment, are insufficient, and consequently, a Spanísh Strategy of Sustainable Development in accordance with the recently approved European Union Revised Strategy for a Sustainable Development is very much needed. The building sector, one of the most important of our economy, but also a great consumer of territory, energy and transport, must contribute to correct this situation by consolidating and increasing the initiatives towards sustainability. On the other hand, taking a closer look al the many activities related to sustainability in building in Spain, we can notice an excessive fragmentation resulting in an unnecessary multiplication -even reiteration- of efforts instead of channeling them in the same direction. lt must be added that, besides responding to the interests of very specific areas of activity, they are basically focused on the economic and environmental aspects of sustainability, practically ignoring its social implications. However, as it has been acknowledged by the European Union, the stress should be at this moment on the development of reliable sustainability indicators, paying particular attention to social indicators. Within this context, the purpose of our research is to develop an index of Sustainability Indicators in Construction Works for Spain, with a triple focus -economic, environmental and social-, transcending the interests of the different activities which coexist inside this sector, and joining efforts towards a common objective
