Calibration of the subdiffusive arithmetic Brownian motion with tempered stable waiting-times

In the classical analysis many models used to real data description are based on the standard Brownian diffusion-type processes. However, some real data exhibit characteristic periods of constant values. In such cases the popular systems seem not to be applicable. Therefore we propose an alternative approach, based on the combination of the popular arithmetic Brownian motion and tempered stable subordinator. The probability density function of the proposed model can be described by a Fokker-Planck type equation and therefore it has many similar properties as the popular arithmetic Brownian motion. In this paper we propose the estimation procedure for the considered tempered stable subdiffusive arithmetic Brownian motion and calibrate the analyzed process to the real financial data.Subdiffusion, Tempered stable distribution, Calibration

Modelowanie nieselektywnych sygnałów analitycznych w kontekście kontroli jakości wybranych produktów

Quality of products depends on many parameters including their unique chemical composition. By definition, the global approach for the quality evaluation is necessary. It often requires simultaneous control of more than one parameter. Thus, the evaluated product is described by instrumental signal(s) possibly reach in chemical information (containing the inputs of several chemical components included in the product). The nonselective signals (e.g. chromatograms or spectra) are used frequently. They are considered as chemical fingerprints since the information they contain is unique. Nevertheless, the complex chemical composition of products leads to overlaps of particular signals characterizing different components. Isolation of significant information from such complex data facilitates the application of chemometric approaches. Considering their advantages the chemical fingerprints are used to evaluate quality of food products, in process analytical technology, and to monitor the environment. The aim of the research was to extract the relevant information form the nonselective signals in order to develop novel analytical approaches for the quality evaluation. Different approaches aiming at evaluation of the quality of sugar (in course of its color and ash content), diesel oil (in course of the level of the imposed excise duty) and food products as coffee, pepper mint, oregano, basil, tomato paste, and rooibos tea (in course of their total antioxidant capacity and total polyphenol content) are developed. The nonselective signals like excitation-emission fluorescence matrices, high performance liquid chromatograms detected by diode array detector (HPLC-DAD) and infrared spectra were registered for examined products. Obtained signals were efficiently modelled using selected chemometric methods. Moreover, the developed new chemical approaches have been validated according to their chemometric and analytical parameters. The application of the nonselective signals in the developed approaches significantly reduces or fully eliminates the use of classic, laborious, time and money consuming analytical methods. All of performed experiments were designed in accordance with the green chemistry principles, i.e. to limit the amount of harmful chemical wastes. Thus, the nonselective signals were collected for raw samples (without any laboratory preparation) or with the use of distilled water as the only solvent. Regarding to the high efficiency of the developed methodologies they can be recommended for the routine laboratory or on-line quality evaluation. It should be emphasized, the presented results refer to the preliminary studies and the application must be preceded by the additional experiments (taking into account the various changes of chemical composition of samples)

In the following article the author considers the meaning of the cathegories of exclusivity, fashion, trend and beauty in the face of fast fashion and consumption. The first part concentrates on the explanation of main concepts and the status of trend ("everything can be fashionable"), "the issue of buying". Afterwards the author analyses the idea of exclusivity and its further connections with aesthetics (considering the popularity of "ugly fashion"). In the light of these circumstances it will be necessary to reassess our picture of obsolescent exclusivity, it will be also important to appreciate the role of sustainable ways of "consuming" fashion

Zmiany hipokampalnego rytmu theta po inaktywacji brzusznego pola nakrywkowego (VTA) u szczura w narkozie uretanowej

Brzuszne pole nakrywkowe śródmózgowia (VTA), kluczowa struktura układu mezolimbicznego jest anatomicznie powiązana z formacją hipokampa. Stwierdzono również zaangażowanie tej okolicy w regulację korowej i hipokampalnej aktywności EEG u czuwających szczurów podczas takich zachowań (np. eksploracyjne węszenie), które są z łatwością wywoływane przez stym ulację VTA i zwykle towarzyszy im rytm theta. Obecne doświadczenia miały na celu poznanie przypuszczalnej roli VTA w kontroli tego rytmu. Materiał i metody. Doświadczenia przeprowadzono na uretanizowanych szczurach, u których rytm theta wywoływano poprzez ucisk nasady ogona. Badano efekty jednostronnej lezji elektrolitycznej (1 mA, 10 s) lub mikroiniekcji prokainy (20% roztwór/0,5 ц1) do VTA. Analizowano 60-sekundowe zapisy wykonane przed i podczas stymulowanego sensorycznie rytmu theta. Określano maksimum mocy i odpowiadającą mu częstotliwość osobno dla pasm o częstotliwości theta (3-6, 6-9 i 9-12 Hz) i dla pasma delta (1-3 Hz). Wyniki. Jednostronna, czasowa inaktywacja VTA po mikroiniekcji prokainy spowodowała dwustronny zanik hipokampalnego rytmu theta, co przejawiało się osłabieniem synchronicznej czynności hipokampalnego EEG i odpowiednią redukcją mocy w paśmie 3-6 Hz. Trwałe uszkodzenie VTA poprzez jednostronną lezję elektrolityczną wywołało długotrwałe, głównie ipsilateralne zmniejszenie mocy rytmu theta, z pewnymi zmianami jego częstotliwości w paśmie 6-9 Hz. Jednocześnie wystąpił wzrost mocy w wyższych pasmach częstotliwościowych, co wskazuje na zmniejszenie synchroniczności hipokampalnej aktywności EEG. Wnioski. Podczas, gdy sztuka życia stawia pytanie o to "jak dobrze żyć?", sztuka kulinarna rozważa "materialne" fundamenty egzystencji, równoważy potrzeby ciała i potrzeby ducha. To, co fizyczne, z reguły ma być płytkie i bez filozoficznego wyrazu. Jednak nie samym dyskursem człowiek żyje, do czego próbował namawiać Epikur w postulacie, by to przyjemność była początkiem i celem naszego szczęśliwego życia. Sztuka życia według hedonistów i epikurejczyków koncentrowała się zatem na dostarczeniu sobie pozytywnych doznań zmysłowych. Jak dodaje w tej kwestii Andrzej Zwoliński: "Hedonizm stał się ważnym uzasadnieniem ucztowania ponad miarę i szukania przyjemności w nadmiernej konsumpcji". Aplikacja mobilna jako zjawisko kulturowe

The main aim of this book is to determine the influence of mobile application on the area of new media reality and culture. The dissertation consists of eight chapters. The first chapter begins with a recall of the most important concepts of computer program and the presentation of its history, based on the following criteria: „linguistic“ – presenting different programming languages, and „technical“ – discussing further innovations, milestones in the field of computer hardware. Afterwards the author considers the evolution of computer program, the history of mobile phone and the presentation of mobile operating systems. The important part of dissertation concentrates on the cultural aspects of programming – the concept of algorithm and the reception of programming languages in the light of the Sapir‑Whorf hypothesis. The following subject focuses on finding common ground for concepts, phenomena and mechanisms that combines the digital and cultural order, provides the foundation for reflection on the interface issues, the idea of cross‑platform, the „three screens strategy“ and the consequences of mobile media consumption. The next part of dissertation concentrates on the analysis of mechanisms related to the selection of applications in the light of Henrik Vejlgaard‘s trend sociology and their use as a marketing tool. The conversion of media reality mediated by the mobile apps is the main problem of subsequent chapters: the transformations of computer games (the transition from console to mobile channel), the phenomenon of most popular mobile games, the personalization and customization of the user experience. Thereafter the author goes back to the sources of mobile applications – the innovation and start‑ups. The main reference are the most important business models and the area of „creation – foundation – distribution“. The last part of dissertation concentrates on the new communication behaviors that have been created in the different areas of life (for example: self‑ expression, e‑reading, „smart homes“). Dykcjonarz Franciszka Salezego Jezierskiego. Publicystyka w formie encyklopedii

In 1791, a posthumous work by Franciszek Salezy Jezierski entitled Niektóre wyrazy porządkiem abecadła zebrane stosownymi do rzeczy uwagami objaśnione was published. T he scholar c hose t he encyclopaedic form, popular during the Enlightenment, but instead of attempting to objectively present the state of knowledge at the time, many articles were used to present his own and opinions of the Kołłątaj’s Forge [Kuźnica Kołłątajowska] on the socio-political situation in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. This article analyses some of the articles in Jezierski’s dictionary in which he criticises the social relations in the Rzeczpospolita, points out those responsible for the weaknesses of the Polish-Lithuanian state, and at the same time presents Enlightenment ideas closely related to French thinkers. His descriptions were made in a very characteristic language, which proves that he was an outstanding publicist of the Great Sejm period
