Flavonoidi iz cvetova Cephalaria pastricensis i njihova antiradikalska aktivnost
Two flavonoid glycosides 1 and 2 having the luteolin structure were isolated from flowers of the endemic plant species Cephalaria pastricensis. They were identified by (1)H and (13)C NMR, as well as UV/Vis spectroscopy. The structures of 1 and 2 were also confirmed by the spectral data of aglycones and TLC of the sugars obtained after acid hydrolysis. Flavones 1 and 2 showed significant antiradical activity in the 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) assay.
In this work, the structure of a silver mirror surface was examined by the STM technique. It was shown that the structural characteristics which enable a high degree of mirror reflection from this surface, which is very close to the ideal reflectivity of silver, are: flat and mutually parallel parts of the surface which are smooth on the atomic level, and distances between adjacent flat parts which state several atomic diameters.STM tehnikom je ispitana struktura povrÅ”ine srebrnog ogledala.

Nationalism and the rhetoric of exclusion
The late twentieth-century Serbian nationalist discourse is seen as a manifestation of the same rhetoric which was initially formulated in the period of national awakening associated with the two uprisings against the Turkish rule under KaraÄorÄe PetroviÄ (1804-13) and MiloÅ” ObrenoviÄ (1815-17) and the institution of the autonomous Serbian principality after the Russo-Turkish War (1828). The methodological tool used in this paper to analyze the Serbian nationalist discourse in the late 20th century is a set of binary oppositions underlying the formation of Serbian national identity, which was skillfully manipulated by the former leader Slobodan MiloÅ”eviÄ
Influence of gaseous laser in continuous-wave and pulse regimes on biomaterial characteristics
Aromatic plants and laser beam wavelength in the red range of visible spectra (623.8 nm), most commonly used for treating plant species, were selected. As there is not much information in the references, it is necessary to set a scale with qualitative and partially quantitative evaluations of the results. Specimens of thyme seed (Thymus vulgaris) were selected as aromatic plants for studying the effect of low-power lasers on plant development, and continuous He-Ne laser, with irradiation times in the range of minutes
Mutual stereotypes of Croats, Bosnjaks and Serbs in the light of two factors theory of prejudice
Since a number of empirical research have not shown expected correlation between negative stereotypes and prejudices, modern researchers have proposed that stereotypes should not be treated as unidimensional construct. The two factors theory of stereotypes has been proposed. First dimension is competence (superior-inferior), and second is beneficence or morality (good-bad). Only second one has high correlation with prejudices. Our research, conducted on 617 subjects from Serbia, Croatia and Bosnia and Hercegovina, shows that mutual negative stereotypes among these three nations are still dominant, and that negativity has mainly been found on the second dimension, just as mentioned theory proposed
14 C-urea breath test in the detection of Helicobacter pylori infection
Helicobacter pylori infection is supposed to be one of the major
causes of digestive and other diseases. Among a lot of invasive
and non-invasive methods for its detection, none is ideal. The
aim is an assessment of the Helicobacter pylori infection in the
stomach using breath test and comparison to other diagnostic
methods, as well as following up the effects of therapy.
In 17 patients with digestive discomfort, breath test, rapid ure-
ase test and histology were performed, while in 47 patients with
proven HP infection the effect of therapy was followed up using
breath test and clinical findings. Breath test was performed af-
ter per oral administration of the capsule of 14 C urea (37 kBq).
Findings of the breath and urease tests were in accordance in 14/
/17 patients (83%) while breath test and histology in 16/17 patients
(94%). During follow-up of the therapeutic effects, breath test and
clinical findings were in accordance in 43/47 patients (98%).
Breath test can be useful in diagnosis but is a method of choice
in following up the patients after therapy for H. pylori infection,
because it is non-invasive, fast and precise
