Microchip electrophoresis bioanalytical applications
Microchip electrophoresis (MCE) is a novel analytical technique resulting from
miniaturization of capillary electrophoresis (CE) to a planar microfabricated separation
device. The consequences of the transfer of CE to MCE in terms of benefits and
drawbacks have been identified and commented. The strategies developed to overcome
the unfavourable features of the chip with respect to the capillary are briefly described.
A method for simultaneous separation of catecholamines and their cationic metabolites
has been developed on the microchip. The addition of three modifiers was required to
resolve all analytes. The sensitivity of on-chip amperometric detection has been
improved by employing an enzyme-catalyzed reaction on the amperometric electrode,
as well as by using a carbon nanotube-modified electrode. The developed analytical
methodology has been successfully applied for a direct on-chip determination of
catecholamines and their metabolites in a mouse brain homogenate. The feasibility of
performing affinity measurements as well as isoelectric focusing on the microchip has
been demonstrated and available applications of these two electrophoretic modes on a
chip have been reviewed. A commercial Shimadzu microchip station has for the first
time been applied for high-throughput microchip isoelectric focusing of therapeutic
proteins and obtained results have been compared to conventional capillary isoelectric
focusing
Results and observations from the reconstruction of continuous time series of mortality by cause of death
Though many countries have been collecting cause-of-death information from death certificates for more than a century, these valuable data sources remain underexplored. This is certainly due in part to the frequent revisions of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD), which have caused breaks in data continuity. This paper describes the methodological background and the results of the transition between the eighth and the ninth revision of ICD for the territory of former West Germany. Using practical examples, we examine the difficulties encountered and discuss the solutions applied.causes of death, mortality, West Germany
GEOPOL®. The innovated environment friendly inorganic binder system
This paper deals with the complete technology of inorganic geopolymer binder system GEOPOL® which is a result of long term research
and development. The objective of this paper is to provide a theoretical and practical overview of the GEOPOL® binder system and
introduce possible ways of moulds and cores production in foundries. GEOPOL® is a unique inorganic binder system, which is needed and
welcomed in terms of the environment, the work environment, and the sustainable resources. The GEOPOL® technology is currently used
in the foundries for three basic production processes/technologies: (1) for self-hardening moulding mixtures, (2) sand mixtures hardened
by gaseous carbon dioxide and (3) the hot box technology with hot air hardening. The GEOPOL® technology not only solves the binder
system and the ways of hardening, but also deals with the entire foundry production process. Low emissions produced during mixing of
sand, moulding, handling, and pouring bring a relatively significant improvement of work conditions in foundries (no VOCs). A high
percentage of the reclaim sand can be used again for the preparation of the moulding mixture.Web of Science19111610
Concept of leak tightness monitoring at underground gas storage
The most important part of the operation of each underground gas storage facility is the implementation of a regular monitoring system for leak tightness monitoring. This article deals with the design of a proposal leak tightness monitoring concept in underground gas storage in porous reservoirs (depleted gas/oil reservoirs, aquifer reservoirs).
This concept interconnects all commonly used and established leak tightness monitoring methodologies and evaluates them in time with comparison with historical results with reference to possible solutions or implementation of remedial measure
Concept of e-shop
Bachelor thesis „Concept of e-shop“ deals with conceptual data modelling that is apllied to specific concept of company’s e-shop. Theoretical basis includes introduction to conceptual data modelling and legal aspects important for e-commerce. Practical part describes chosen company and points to advantages of concept implementation. Conceptual model consists of entities, relationships and their presentation in E-R diagrams.
Wine Farmstead in Jaroslavice
This bachelor thesis analyzes an area of brickfield in Jaroslavice. The new content of the area is a family vineyard. The original purpose is significant all around which strongly affects the new use of every part of the area. The object of the vineyard is designed in the connection of comunication from the village Jaroslavice. It divides the area into the north and south part which both have different purpose. The object with its shape reacts to the terrain it is dug into. Under one roof you can find two divergent services which with its principles reflect on the fasade and so make the character of the house.
Non-traditional foods containing probiotic bacteria
Přítomnost probiotických MO byla zjišťována za využití metody polymerázové řetězové reakce v reálném čase (qPCR).Probiotic microorganisms are contained in common dairy products as well in unconventional probiotic products consumed especially in Asian countries. In the thesis is shown overview of chosen less common foodstuffs containing probiotic microorganisms, which no belong to fermented dairy products. In the thesis are discussed positive health benefits of probiotics foodstuffs on the host. The experimental part deals with the identification of probiotic microorganisms, which are contained in chosen probiotic product from Asia. DNA was isolated from the product by use phenol extraction and using magnetic particles. Probiotic microorganisms in chosen product were detected using method real-time polymerase chain reaction (qPCR).
