Improving student interest with portable laboratory tools in engineering
[EN] The desire for improving student motivation and interest in engineering
learning have yielded new methodologies for active learning. The present
paper presents a new methodology based on project learning and portable
learning technology. The goal of the method was to improve the students’
confidence and learning in industrial design and prototyping during one
semester. The results indicate that students’ motivation for learning was very
high and it has been maintained during the whole semester. Also, the
confidence on their learning and retention ability increased, which indicates
that the method had a positive impact on the students.Dunai Dunai, L.; Antonino Daviu, JA.; Lengua Lengua, I. (2021). Improving student interest with portable laboratory tools in engineering. Designing a selection process for a Learning Organization.
Treball Final de Màster Universitari en Psicologia del Treball, de les Organitzacions i en Recursos Humans. Codi: SBE013. Curs acadèmic: 2018/2019.The aim of this project is to create a selection process for Iotsens, the division of a company
from Castellon, which operates in the emerging industry of Internet of things. This process is
not looking for applicants according to the typical job description, but it is focused on selecting
people whose skills contribute to creating a learning organization. Based on the available
literature about learning organizations, the main characteristics that define these
organizations are analyzed and, consequently the individual competencies that employees
must have and which help create a learning organization are established. Those competencies
are determined along with an analysis of the values and requirements of Iotsens. The
selection process involves intelligence tests, an assessment center and a semi-structured
interview. This projects is mainly focused on the assessment center, and explains briefly the
other tools used during the selection process.
The Metaverse as a Museum Practice
From the design of interactive processes to digital exhibition spaces, we will explore the potentialities and limits of the use of the metaverse through three case studies by examining the relationship of continuity/ discontinuity between the physical museum and the digital museum

An empirical application of stochastic volatility models to Latin-American stock returns using GH skew student's t-distribution
This paper represents empirical studies of stochastic volatility (SV) models for daily stocks returns data of a set of Latin American countries (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Mexico and Peru) for the sample period 1996:01-2013:12. We estimate SV models incorporating both leverage effects and skewed heavy-tailed disturbances taking into account the GH Skew Student’s t-distribution using the Bayesian estimation method proposed by Nakajima and Omori (2012).
A model comparison between the competing SV models with symmetric Student´s t-disturbances is provided using the log marginal likelihoods in the empirical study. A prior sensitivity analysis is also provided. The results suggest that there are leverage effects in all indices considered but there is not enough evidence for Peru, and skewed heavy-tailed disturbances is confirmed only for Argentina, symmetric heavy-tailed disturbances for Mexico, Brazil and Chile, and symmetric Normal disturbances for Peru. Furthermore, we find that the GH Skew Student s t-disturbance distribution in the SV model is successful in describing the distribution of the daily stock return data for Peru, Argentina and Brazil over the traditional symmetric Student´s t-disturbance distribution.Tesi
Virtual Sound Localization by Blind People
[EN] The paper demonstrates that blind people localize sounds more accurately than sighted people by
using monaural and/or binaural cues. In the experiment, blind people participated in two tests; the first one took place in the laboratory and the second one in the real environment under different noise conditions. A simple click sound was employed and processed with non-individual head related transfer functions. The sounds were delivered by a system with a maximum azimuth of 32◦ to the left side and 32◦ to the right side of the participant s head at a distance ranging from 0.3 m up to 5 m. The present paper describes the experimental methods and results of virtual sound localization by blind people through the use of a simple electronic travel aid based on an infrared laser pulse and the time of flight distance measurement principle. The lack of vision is often compensated by other perceptual abilities, such as the tactile or hearing ability. The results show that blind people easily perceive and localize binaural sounds and assimilate them with sounds from the environment.Dunai Dunai, L.; Lengua Lengua, I.; Peris Fajarnes, G.; Brusola Simón, F. DESARROLLO DE UN SISTEMA DE ENTRENAMIENTO ACÚSTICOVIRTUAL PARA LOCALIZACIÓN DE SONIDOS VIRTUALES PARA PERSONAS INVIDENTES
Lengua Lengua, I.
