The article is concerned with the immune and some hymoral regulation systems peculiarities at long-term adaptation to significant physical activity of 98 qualified athletes (57 swimmers, 35 biocyclists), aged 15–23. Under this article the impact of physical activity on immune status largely depends on the level of athletes’ adaptation possibilities and immune status of athletes with adaptation mechanisms tension is significantly changed

Visualizing Codicologically and Textually Complex Manuscripts

This article presents the collation map, a new diagrammatic method for visually mapping the texts of complex medieval Western manuscripts against their material structures. It argues that the collation map is a more useful tool for understanding the collation of codicologically and textually complex manuscripts than collation formulae – currently the most frequently used method of representing collation. Four reasons for this are explored: one, the map provides a visual representation of the manuscript’s overall structure at a glance by showing the whole manuscript on a single page; two, it provides an instant overview of the size and spread of texts between quires, recognizing the importance of manuscript contents both for collation and for the growing movement to view manuscript books as whole objects; three, it is a useful working aid when examining digital manuscripts, and an essential aid to scholarship in an increasingly digital and international environment; and four, unlike formulae, the collation map avoids prescribing a set of theoretical standards or a national system. The article couches these discussions within the context of the full range of published work in theoretical codicology

HOUSEHOLD RECYCLING BEHAVIOUR: A BEHAVIORAL PERSPECTIVE

    Get PDF
Environmental issues put short-term economic gratification in direct conflict with long-term survival of the planet: they are no longer considered ‘distant’. There is a causal link between the disposal and treatment of waste and global environmental problems. Recycling is one of the most effective remedies to the problem of waste. There is evidence of an intention-action gap in household recycling behavior. The psychological nature of the decision to recycle is the most likely explanation for this intention-action gap. The present dissertation combines behavioral economics and psychology of incentives. It studies the cognitive processes underlying the recycling intention-action gap and offers a theoretical framework to design effective nudges. The work consists of three sequential articles: the first two articles include a lab experiment, the third runs a computer simulation. Article 1 considers a semantic stimulus and tests the priming effect on recycling behavior of two stereotypes: the environmentalist and the conscientious citizen. Article 2 considers a contextual (conceptual plus visual) stimulus and tests the priming effect of two induced feelings: spirituality and nature. Article 3 develops an agent-based model to assess the effects of the major findings of Article 1 and 2 on the system as a whole

Inffluence of ion beam implantation on the corrosion properties of stainless steel

A modified surface layers with high resistance were successfully prepared on corrosion stainless steel by Ion Beam Implantation (IBI). These layers contain oxides of chromium, aluminum, iron, and boron. It was revealed that the implantation of oxygen and aluminum with boron has a positive effect to the characteristic of the formed layers. In order to confirm this phenomenon, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy were carried out to investigate the morphology and composition of this layer after ion implantation process. The corrosion behavior of the implanted stainless steel was investigated in NaCl solution by electrochemical system and long-term salt spray (NSS) tests. The modified surface layer has been demonstrated to improve the corrosion resistance of stainless steels, even in the long standing corrosion influence. Finally, the corrosion of the stainless steel with implantation was discussed

Applying Q-methodology to study customer satisfaction with quality of community pharmacy services in Vietnam

Purpose: To determine the pattern of customers’ viewpoints regarding their satisfaction with the quality of services of community pharmacies in Vietnam. Methods: Q-methodology was applied to identify distinct patterns of subjective perception on community pharmacy services. A Q-sample of 40 statements was developed following a review of the literature. The study recruited 144 customers from 40 pharmacies in four Vietnamese cities. They were required to sort 40 statements into a quasi-normal distribution grid according to their degree of satisfaction with the quality of community pharmacy services. Data collected were analyzed using PQ Method software version 2.35.Results: This study identified three factors indicating three patterns of perspectives concerning customer satisfaction on the quality of community pharmacy services: Factor 1: accessibility of the community pharmacy; Factor 2: availability of medication consultations; Factor 3: accessibility of medicines. Conclusion: There are three main patterns of viewpoints concerning customer satisfaction with community pharmacy services in Vietnam. The findings should contribute to improving the understanding of pharmaceutical policymakers and pharmacy staff regarding customer satisfaction with current pharmaceutical services. Keywords: Community pharmacy, Customer satisfaction, Q-methodology, Pharmaceutical policymakers, Pharmacy staf

The influence of the chosen method of anesthesia on cognitive functions in the postoperative period is investigated in the article. Cognitive status analysis was performed using neuropsychological testing: Frontal Assessment Battery (FAB), short-term mental status assessment scale (Mini-MentalStateExamination - MMSE). The evaluation was performed in 3 stages: on the eve of surgery, 7 days after it and on the 21st day of the postoperative period. Patients were divided into two groups: group k - patients received general anesthesia with narcotic analgesics and benzodiazepines in premedication for 40 minutes, maintenance of anesthesia - sevoflurano - oxygen mixture on a low gas stream. minutes before surgery. Estimation of the depth of analgesia was monitored using ANI (Analgesia Nociception Index, index of analgesia with nociceptive effect), evaluation of the depth of sedation - by BIS (Bispectral index, Bispectral index). Patients in both groups were statistically comparable by gender and age. Given the comparative analysis of changes in neuropsychological testing on the FAB scale, the average in the group using dexmedetomidine increased by 13.3% relative to baseline. After a comparative analysis of neuropsychological testing on the MMSE scale, the indicators in the group using dexmedetomid while in the group with the "classical" method of anesthesia, they did not change significantly. Based on the data obtained, it can be argued that the use of dexmedetomidine, as a component of multimodal analgesia, has a positive effect on the state of cognitive functions in the post-anesthetic period. The influence of the chosen method of anesthesia on cognitive functions in the postoperative period is investigated in the article. This article analyzes the implementation of e-learning technologies in the study of mathematics at Tomsk Polytechnic University. It describes research findings of the suitability of the e-learning technology for first year students of an engineering university. The research involved 248 students and 38 teachers of Tomsk Polytechnic University. The authors surveyed first-year students to check whether they are ready to learn in the electronic environment. In addition, the students and teachers were surveyed on the possibility of teaching a course in mathematics in the electronic environment and on the preferred mode of learning: web-based instruction, blended learning, or full e-learning. The research identified the main difficulties when working with e-learning courses as well as the optimal form of e-learning for the study of mathematics
