    Kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengenal pasti hubungan antara gaya kepimpinan dengan tekanan pengurusan di kalangan guru besar di daerah Kota Marudu, Sabah. Secara lebih terperinci, kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengenal pasti: (1) Ciri-ciri demografik guru besar; (2) Gaya kepimpinan guru besar; (3) Tahap tekanan pengurusan di kalangan guru besar; (4) Hubungan antara gaya kepimpinan dengan tekanan pengurusan. Populasi kajian ialah guru-guru besar sekolah rendah di daerah Kota Marudu. Seramai 26 orang daripada 28 orang guru besar telah terlibat sebagai responden kajian ini. Data telah dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan instrumentasi soal selidik dan analisis data telah dijalankan dengan menggunakan perisian The Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS). Statistik yang digunakan ialah statistik deskriptif, min, sisihan piawai dan pekali korelasi pearson. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan bahawa kebanyakan responden lebih cenderung ke arah gaya kepimpinan menyokong (69%) pada tahap tinggi. Secara keseluruhan pula didapati tahap amalan gaya kepimpinan responden berada pada tahap sederhana. Sementara itu, tekanan pengurusan pula menunjukkan bahawa aspek pengurusan kemudahan mewujudkan tekanan paling tinggi antara empat kategori tekanan yang ada dan berada pada tahap tekanan tinggi. Tekanan pengurusan kategori pengurusan kemudahan menyaksikan lebih separuh daripada responden berada pada tahap tinggi. Bagaimanapun secara keseluruhannya tahap tekanan pengurusan yang dialami oleh responden berada pada tahap sederhana. Dapatan kajian juga menunjukkan terdapatnya hubungan yang signifikan antara tekanan pengurusan kategori perhubungan sekolah dengan gaya kepimpinan mengarah. Begitu juga kajian mendapati bahawa wujud hubungan yang signifikan antara tekanan pengurusan kategori pengurusan kemudahan dengan gaya kepimpinan berserta.     This article aims to determine the role of all school stakeholders in the range of violence experienced by students in the school. Various kinds of violence experienced by students in schools today can not be separated from their social environment including the school environment itself. Violence in the form of verbal abuse, for example bullying, slander, insult, berate and curse in the real world that can lead to psychological violence. Then the virtual violence such as insulting, insulting and cursing in the virtual world or social media up to physical violence such as beatings, sexual abuse, penamparan and others. The role of school stakeholders include the role of the principal as a leader and manager of the school then the teachers as mentors, tutors, teachers and educators to school employees and school friend or peer itself as the outpouring of the heart.     The research on the profile Chilli seed breeding and its delivering service was done on MayAugust 2005 in Multi Agro Wiyata and Nuansa Agro Insani, Jember regency. The goals were to find description of service marketing perfomance and to analyce the dominant factor in service marketing from both service providers.There are seven variables in service marketing exactly: Product, Price, Promotion, Place, People, Process and Physical Evidence. This research used survey method with quitsioner by 200 farmers. Services are categorized as medium-high contact and thus a high degree of interaction. Interpersonal communication between farmers and service professional with usage appropiate technology is essential for succesful service delivery. The result of descriptive analysis showed that the diferenciation in service marketing performance between Multi Agro Wiyata and Nuansa Agro Insani are product and process delivering service. The dominant factors in service marketing,"People performance" in Multi Agro Wiyata and "physical evidence performance" in Nuansa Agro Insani.Keywords: Chilli Seed breeding, Service Marketing, Effective Technolog

    Using Students’ Authentic Writings to Teach an Apprenticeship Report

    An Apprenticeship Report as one of the obligatory products that students of Business English of Politeknik Ubaya have to produce becomes an important requirement since, during the writing process, it also involves the company where the students undergo the apprenticeship in their last semester. Having examined their writings, I found quite troublesome linguistic accuracy in their writings. Due to these most frequently occurring errors, I was finally triggered to make use their authentic writings as my teaching sources. Then, to follow up, I intentionally collected their works to be selected to be the teaching sources as I believed that bringing authenticity in the classroom produce positive feedback and substantial language learning (Reid, 1993: 177). Therefore, in this paper, I discussed further about the use of authentic materials and approaches in teaching writing using authentic materials. To obtain information whether authentic materials gave positive responses from the students or not, a set of questionnaire was distributed to them in all stages; pre-, whilst-, and post-writing. Overall results have shown positive responses from the students as they were exposed to their seniors’ authentic writings and experienced authentic-materials-based activities which I designed purposely for them

    This study analyzes the employment job performance by examining the relationship on mentoring, management support and training and development in State Federal Development Office of Sabah. Issues such as the complexity of the staffs from the different demographic and transformation of ICT systems give added insights to this study. The methodology for this study is using quantitative approach. The findings of this study reveal that mentoring, management support and training and development have significant positive relationship with job performance. This study recommends that human resource management in all over Sabah Development Office (SDO) in Malaysia should implement such practices in order to formulating and implementing strategies of employees’ job performance at the workplace

    Motivasi merupakan hal awal yang dapat menjadi penentu kepuasan.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh mengenai motivasi terhadap kepuasan wisatawan pada aktivitas selancar air sebagai wisata petualangan di Indonesia. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi presepsi wisatawan terhadap motivasi dan kepuasan wisatawan pada aktivitas selancar air sebagai wisata petualangan di Indonesia. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini bersifat deskriptif dan verifikatif.Variabel dalam penelitian ini motivasi dan kepuasan wisatawan.Dalam penelitian ini, pengumpulan data dapat diperoleh melalui, observasi dan kuesioner.Data yang terkumpul dari kuesioner berupa data ordinal, data ini perlu dirubah dalam bentuk interval dan hal ini menggunakan MSI (Method Success Interval).Sedangkan untuk menentukan rentang ranking dari kuesioner, peneliti menggunakan garis kontinum. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang didapat dalam penelitian ini, diketahui bahwa skor mengenai motivasi berada pada kategori tinggi dengan skor 72,7% yang berarti para wisatawan termotivasi sangat kuat dalam melakukan aktivitas selancar air dan skor mengenai kepuasan wisatawan juga berada dalam kategori tinggi dengan skor 79,5% yang berarti para wisatawan merasa puas akan aktivitas selancar air yang mereka laksanakan di Indonesia. Dilihat dari besaran pengaruh motivasi terhadap kepuasan wisatawan yaitu sebesar 21,7% atau dapat disimpulkan bahwa pengaruh motivasi berada pada kategori lemah. ;---Motivation is the initial thing that can be a determinant of satisfaction. This study aims to determine the effect of motivation on tourist satisfaction on surfing activities as an adventure tour in Indonesia. The purpose of this study was to identify tourists 'perceptions of tourists' motivation and satisfaction in water surfing activities as adventure tours in Indonesia. The research method used in this study is descriptive and verification. The variables in this study are motivation and satisfaction of tourists. In this study, data collection can be obtained through observation and questionnaires. The data collected from the questionnaire is ordinal data, this data needs to be changed in the form of intervals and this uses MSI (Method Success Interval). Whereas to determine the ranking range of the questionnaire, researchers used a continuum line. Based on the results of the research obtained in this study, it is known that the score on motivation is in the high category with a score of 72.7%, which means that the tourists are motivated very strongly in conducting surfing activities and scores on tourist satisfaction are also in the high category with a score of 79. 5%, which means that tourists are satisfied with the surfing activities they carry out in Indonesia. Judging from the magnitude of the influence of motivation on tourist satisfaction that is equal to 21.7% or it can be concluded that the influence of motivation is in the weak category

    ENGLISH PROFICIENCY OF HOTEL FRONT-LINERS: WHAT AND WHY?

    English proficiency for hotel front-liners is paramount in giving excellent service for the guests. 60 seconds in the beginning of interaction leave the first impression for them. Therefore, oral communication skills play a significant role as a part of a musthave competence for front-liners. This study was triggered by initial findings at some hotels in Surabaya where there was a discrepancy between hotel leaders’ perception and real English proficiency of their front-liners. The hotel leaders perceived lower than the passing grade of the hotel and urgency of upgrading their competence emerged. Two research questions should be answered: (1) WHAT level of the frontliners’ English proficiency was, and (2) WHY they experienced difficulty when facing foreign guests. To answer the questions, a descriptive qualitative research employing a case study approach was conducted. The 3-star hotel consisting 20 participants was involved. Test of Business English Communication Competence Version 2.0 (TBECCv.2.0) was given to participants. TBECCv.20 was an ESP test created and developed for front-liners. After running the test, an online questionnaire was disseminated and interviews were also conducted for triangulation. Results revealed that the score range of 50-59 received the highest percentage; 40% which showed their English proficiency needed to be upgraded. Reasons of difficulty handling the foreign guests were due to (1) L1 interference, (2) educational background, (3) less English exposure, (4) the absence of ESP test at recruitment process. The study recommended further study for other categories of hotel and the staff professional development was recommended as well
