Detecting intentional herding: what lies beneath intraday data in the spanish stock market

This paper examines the intentional herd behaviour of market participants using a new bootstrap-based approach that compares the scaled cross-sectional deviation of returns in the intraday market with the cross-sectional deviation of returns of an “artificially created” market free of intentional herding effects. The analysis is carried out for both the overall market and a sample of the most representative. The results show that the Spanish market exhibits a significant intraday herding effect that is not detected using other traditional measures when familiar stocks are analysed. Entre viejas, tras del fuego, hilando sus ruecas: escritura y oralidad en Retrato de la Lozana andaluza

This article studies Retrato de la Lozana andaluza, by Francisco Delicado (1528-1530), in the context of the emergence of a national linguistic awareness in Spain, to be found in works, such as the prologue to the Gramatica Castellana (1492) by Antonio de Nebrija and the Dialogo de la Lengua (1533) by Juan de Valdes. This article highlights Delicado's own philosophy of language and its effect on his literature by analyzing both the peculiar formal structure of the Retrato and the oral and colloquial nature of its dialogues. Delicado's vision is nowhere more present than in the meta textual reflections of the implied author on the art of portraying. Consequently, in dialogue with Walter Benjamin and Bronislaw Malinowski on the conflictive nature of orality and writing, this article weighs the epistemological relevance of Retrato in regards to the limits of the written representation of orality.Este articulo aborda Retrato de la Lozana andaluza (entre 1528 y 1530) de Francisco Delicado en el contexto del surgimiento de una conciencia linguistica nacional en Espana a partir de obras tales como el prologo a la Gramatica Castellana (1492) de Antonio de Nebrija y el Dialogo de la Lengua (1533) de Juan Valdes. El articulo expone la filosofia de Delicado sobre la lengua, y las repercusiones de dicha filosofia en su vision literaria, considerando la peculiar estructura de Retrato, en particular el caracter oral y coloquial de sus dialogos. El articulo relaciona este caracter oral con la reflexion meta-textual del autor implicito sobre el arte de retratar. Editar una revista que logre llegar a sus lectores con una periodicidad preestablecida y con un contenido que satisfaga sus expectativas es bastante difícil en cualquier circunstancia; pero se vuelve una tarea casi que imposible cuando se trata de una revista científica en Colombia. Universitas Scientiarum ha sido el producto dela labor desvelada de varios editores en jefe, el último de los cuales, el Dr. Jorge Ahumada Palios, debió renunciar a su dirección cuando viajó a los Estados Unidos a tomar una posición docente e investigativa en la Universidad de Georgia en Athens. El Dr. Ahumada y su grupo de colaboradores habían logrado editar varios números de la revista cuyos artículos evaluados por un excelente comité editorial mantuvieron altos estándares de calidad. La revista y la Facultad de Ciencias deben agradecer al Dr. Ahumada por los desvelos y ardua labor que implicó su excelente dirección..

Amphorae Production in the Coast of Malaga from the Punic Period to the Julio-Claudian Period

El estudio de la producción anfórica en el litoral malacitano durante las épocas púnica y republicana apenas ha sido tratado por la historiografía, situación que para la antigua Malaca se está empezando a invertir en los últimos años. Durante el estudio de conjuntos anfóricos inéditos de diversas intervenciones procedentes de la bahía de Málaga y de Cerro del Mar (Torre del Mar, Málaga), hemos documentado hallazgos que nos permiten avanzar en el conocimiento tipológico y arqueométrico de estas producciones, que no parecen verse alteradas tras la conquista romana. Asimismo, hemos registrado ánforas de este origen en otros puntos del mediodía peninsular, lo que nos permite realizar un primer acercamiento a la importancia cualitativa y cuantitativa de sus exportaciones. Mostramos que, para el periodo analizado, el dinamismo del ámbito productivo de la costa mediterránea del sur de la península ibérica en general, y del litoral malacitano en particular, es mayor al reflejado en la literatura científica, confirmándose como un área relevante para la comprensión de la economía de Hispania Ulterior/Bética.The study of amphorae production in the coast of Malaga during the Punic and Roman Republican periods has hardly been discussed by historiography, but in recent years the ancient Malaca is beginning to get more attention. During the study of unpublished amphorae groups discovered in different sites of the bay of Málaga and Cerro del Mar (Torre del Mar, Malaga), we have identified elements that improve the typology and archaeometric knowledge of these productions, which do not seem to have suffered any modification after the Roman conquest. Moreover, we have registered such amphorae in other areas of the southern region of the Iberian Peninsula. Thanks to this, we have been able to make a first approach to the quantitative and qualitative importance of their export. We show that, in the analysed period, the dynamism of the production in the Mediterranean coast of the Iberian Peninsula in general, and the coast of Malaga in particular, is higher than what is recorded in scientific literature.
