An investigative study into the sensitivity of different partial discharge φ-q-n pattern resolution sizes on statistical neural network pattern classification

This paper investigates the sensitivity of statistical fingerprints to different phase resolution (PR) and amplitude bins (AB) sizes of partial discharge (PD) φ-q-n (phase-amplitude-number) patterns. In particular, this paper compares the capability of the ensemble neural network (ENN) and the single neural network (SNN) in recognizing and distinguishing different resolution sizes of φ-q-n discharge patterns. The training fingerprints for both the SNN and ENN comprise statistical fingerprints from different φ-q-n measurements. The result shows that there exists statistical distinction for different PR and AB sizes on some of the statistical fingerprints. Additionally, the ENN and SNN outputs change depending on training and testing with different PR and AB sizes. Furthermore, the ENN appears to be more sensitive in recognizing and discriminating the resolution changes when compared with the SNN. Finally, the results are assessed for practical implementation in the power industry and benefits to practitioners in the field are highlighted

An edition of Part I of "Ma'ani al-Qur'an wa-I'Rabuh" by Ibrahim b. al-Sariy al-Zajjaj.

In this work I have attempted to reproduce the text of Ma'ani al-Qur'an in the form dictated by the author, or as near as it is possible to be at this remove. I compared the various copies extant and have isolated the copy 'B' as being the most close to the original. But even this copy is not infallible and where there was a doubt as to its correctness I have utilised the more convincing expression from another copy. In all cases, however, I have referred to the other copies in the footnotes. As to the poetry used by al-Zajjaj to illustrate his explanations, I have traced the authorship of every verse possible. Some verses could not be traced, though very few, but their anonimity does not affect the main thesis; and it may be mentioned that the book of Sibawayh contains one hundered verses the authors of which are not known. I have provided brief biographies of the poets, grammarians and other persons mentioned. Some grammatical questions have been analysed in depth, others mentioned only briefly and yet others according to the methods of al-Zajjaj. In the latter case I have completed the explanation and corrected it according to the concensus of the majority of grammarians. In the short introduction I have offered a short biography of al-Zajjaj, his life, education, his age and his books. His largest work Ma'ani al-Qur'an being the subject of this present work, I have tried to throw a ray of light on it, explaining its value, its effect and its style and also displaying the criticism against it. The part of the book which is have completed is enough, I think, to give a clear idea of the man and his unique position amongst the commentators on the Qur'an

Attenuated palmitoylation of serotonin receptor 5-HT1A affects receptor function and contributes to depression-like behaviors

The serotonergic system and in particular serotonin 1A receptor (5-HT1AR) are implicated in major depressive disorder (MDD). Here we demonstrated that 5-HT1AR is palmitoylated in human and rodent brains, and identified ZDHHC21 as a major palmitoyl acyltransferase, whose depletion reduced palmitoylation and consequently signaling functions of 5-HT1AR. Two rodent models for depression-like behavior show reduced brain ZDHHC21 expression and attenuated 5-HT1AR palmitoylation. Moreover, selective knock-down of ZDHHC21 in the murine forebrain induced depression-like behavior. We also identified the microRNA miR-30e as a negative regulator of Zdhhc21 expression. Through analysis of the post-mortem brain samples in individuals with MDD that died by suicide we find that miR-30e expression is increased, while ZDHHC21 expression, as well as palmitoylation of 5-HT1AR, are reduced within the prefrontal cortex. Our study suggests that downregulation of 5-HT1AR palmitoylation is a mechanism involved in depression, making the restoration of 5-HT1AR palmitoylation a promising clinical strategy for the treatment of MDD

Sinteza novih derivata testosterona sa supstituiranim pirazolinskim prstenom kao inhibitori 5alpha-reduktaze

Condensation of 3β-hydroxy-16-[(4-chlorophenyl)methylene]androst-5-en-17-one 1 with hydrazine hydrate in acetic acid afforded N-acetyl pyrazoline derivative 2, while, condensation of 1 with semicarbazide afforded compound 3. Also, compound 1 was treated with hydrazine hydrate in absolute methanol or ethanol to afford the corresponding -methoxy (4) and -ethoxy (5) derivatives, which were cyclized with etherated boron trifluoride to the pyrazoline derivative 6. The later could be prepared directly by refluxing of 1 with hydrazine hydrate in dioxane. Oxidation of compound 6 with Oppenour or Moffat oxidizing agents yielded 3-oxo-derivatives 7 and 8, respectively. On the other hand, condensation of compound 1 with substituted hydrazines, gave the corresponding 3beta-hydroxyandrostenopyrazolines 9a,b, which were oxidized using Moffat method give 3-oxo-androstenopyrazolines 10a,b, which were condensed with ethylene triphenyl-phosphorane in DMSO to yield 3-ethylene androstenopyrazolines 11a,b. Dehydrogenation of 9a,b with Wettestein oxidation afforded 4,6-diene-3-one analogues 12a,b, which were treated with chloranil to yield delta4,6,8(14)-triene-3-one analogues 13a,b. Oppenour oxidation of 9a,b afforded Δ4-ene-3-one analogues 14a,b, which were treated with dichlorodicyanoquinone (DDQ) in dioxane to give Δ1,4,6-triene-3-one analogues 15a,b. Reakcijom spoja 1 s hidrazin hidratom u apsolutnom metanolu ili etanolu nastali su odgovarajući -metoksi (4) i -etoksi (5) derivati, koji su ciklizirani s borovim trifluoridom u derivat pirazolina 6. Isti spoj se može pripaviti izravno refluksiranjem spoja 1 s hidrazin hidratom u dioksanu. Oksidacijom spoja 6 s Oppenourovim ili Moffatovim oksidansom dobiveni su 3-okso derivati 7, odnosno 8. S druge strane, kondenzacija spoja 1 sa supstituiranim hidrazinima dala je odgovarajuće 3beta-hidroksiandrostenopirazoline 9a,b, koji su oksidirani Moffatovom metodom u 3-okso-androstenopirazoline 10a,b. Ovi produkti su dalje kondenzirani s etilen rifenil-fosforanom u DMSO u 3-etilen androstenopirazoline 11a,b. Wettesteinovom dehidrogenacijom 9a,b dobiveni su delta4,6-dien-3-on analozi 12a,b, koji su s kloranilom dali 4,6,8(14)-trien-3-on analoge 13a,b. Oppenourovom oksidacijom 9a,b dobiveni su Δ4-en-3-on analozi 14a,b, koji su s diklorodicianokinonom (DDQ) u dioksanu dali Δ1,4,6-trien-3-on analoge 15a,b.
