    Get PDF
The Covid-19 epidemic, which deeply affected educational practices all over the world, caused significant difficulties in the process of effective evaluation of students with the suspension of face-to-face education. This research deals with the assessment-evaluation methods applied by science and physics teachers in the online education process in high schools due to the Covid-19 pandemic in Turkey, and with the problems they have experienced in this process and with the proposed solutions. The research covers a 13-week period. A total of 65 teachers were included in the research. Qualitative method and phenomenology design was used in this research. Qualitative findings were evaluated with content analysis. During the online education period, it was determined that the teachers made assessments by sending questions and exams to the students via the Education Information Network (EBA), and sharing individual and group questions on social media, and there was no evaluation due to insufficient student participation in the courses. Alternative assessment-evaluation methods are mostly preferred by teachers who are open to academic development and a high level of digital literacy. Considering that online education applications are inevitable in emergency situations such as epidemics, the development of eligible assessment and evaluation applications and practices for online education is necessary as well as their presentation to teachers under the guidance of action researchers

The purpose of this study is to determine the effects of using the learning stations technique in teaching about the electrical current on students’ physics course achievement. The sample of the experimental study designed with a pretest-posttest model consists of 50 10th grade students studying in a Science High School in Trabzon, in the 2016-2017 academic year. A multiple-choice achievement test with .80 reliability coefficient was used as the data collection tool. The obtained data were analyzed by applying the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks test in SPSS 20.00 program and a statistically significant difference was found between the experimental and control group achievement test scores in favor of the experimental group, which indicates that the learning stations technique practices performed to teach about the electrical current are effective in increasing the 10th grade students’ physics course achievements

The aim of this study is to select promising wild apricot rootstocks among wild apricot populations propagated by seeds naturally found in Malatya, Erzincan, Nev?ehir, Sivas and Elaz?g provinces. In the first stage, land scans were carried out between 2007 and 2009 and 756 genotypes were determined which could be suitable for the characteristics of the rootstock by considering the phenotypic characteristics. On land surveys,  the wild apricot trees that are healthy, productive, bitter seeds, thornless, dwarth growth habit and smooth trunk structure was selected. Among the marked wild apricot types were selected 240 types in 2008, 262 types in 2009 and 254 types in 2010. Seeds taken from these determined wild apricot trees were planted for 2 years in Erzincan and Malatya locations and germination experiments were carried out. In the study, Hasanbey and Hac?halilo?lu apricot varieties were used as control plants. Seed germination percentage, seedling diameter, height, diameter and high homogeneity were determined. At the end of three years of germination experiments were evaluated according to weighting ranking score and finally 8 types that has hight score selected for Malatya location and 18 types for Erzincan location. In the second step, these 26 types after selected in germination tests, was grafted by cv. Hac?halilo?lu in Malatya and by cv. Hasanbey in Erzincan. After grafting success, shoot diameter, homogenity, shoot length and homogenity were evaluated. Then, the data was selected according to weighting ranking score and finally 7 types (58/6, 58/7, 24/111, 24/7, 24/25, 24/33 and 44/8) that has hight score selected for Malatya and Erzincan locations, and transferred to the third stage. In third stage, collection orchards will be established and rootstocks-scion, yield, phenological observations, pomological analysis, tree growth and habit will be evaluated.&nbsp

Global, regional, and national burden of disorders affecting the nervous system, 1990–2021: a systematic analysis for the Global Burden of Disease Study 2021

    Get PDF
BackgroundDisorders affecting the nervous system are diverse and include neurodevelopmental disorders, late-life neurodegeneration, and newly emergent conditions, such as cognitive impairment following COVID-19. Previous publications from the Global Burden of Disease, Injuries, and Risk Factor Study estimated the burden of 15 neurological conditions in 2015 and 2016, but these analyses did not include neurodevelopmental disorders, as defined by the International Classification of Diseases (ICD)-11, or a subset of cases of congenital, neonatal, and infectious conditions that cause neurological damage. Here, we estimate nervous system health loss caused by 37 unique conditions and their associated risk factors globally, regionally, and nationally from 1990 to 2021.MethodsWe estimated mortality, prevalence, years lived with disability (YLDs), years of life lost (YLLs), and disability-adjusted life-years (DALYs), with corresponding 95% uncertainty intervals (UIs), by age and sex in 204 countries and territories, from 1990 to 2021. We included morbidity and deaths due to neurological conditions, for which health loss is directly due to damage to the CNS or peripheral nervous system. We also isolated neurological health loss from conditions for which nervous system morbidity is a consequence, but not the primary feature, including a subset of congenital conditions (ie, chromosomal anomalies and congenital birth defects), neonatal conditions (ie, jaundice, preterm birth, and sepsis), infectious diseases (ie, COVID-19, cystic echinococcosis, malaria, syphilis, and Zika virus disease), and diabetic neuropathy. By conducting a sequela-level analysis of the health outcomes for these conditions, only cases where nervous system damage occurred were included, and YLDs were recalculated to isolate the non-fatal burden directly attributable to nervous system health loss. A comorbidity correction was used to calculate total prevalence of all conditions that affect the nervous system combined.FindingsGlobally, the 37 conditions affecting the nervous system were collectively ranked as the leading group cause of DALYs in 2021 (443 million, 95% UI 378–521), affecting 3·40 billion (3·20–3·62) individuals (43·1%, 40·5–45·9 of the global population); global DALY counts attributed to these conditions increased by 18·2% (8·7–26·7) between 1990 and 2021. Age-standardised rates of deaths per 100 000 people attributed to these conditions decreased from 1990 to 2021 by 33·6% (27·6–38·8), and age-standardised rates of DALYs attributed to these conditions decreased by 27·0% (21·5–32·4). Age-standardised prevalence was almost stable, with a change of 1·5% (0·7–2·4). The ten conditions with the highest age-standardised DALYs in 2021 were stroke, neonatal encephalopathy, migraine, Alzheimer's disease and other dementias, diabetic neuropathy, meningitis, epilepsy, neurological complications due to preterm birth, autism spectrum disorder, and nervous system cancer.InterpretationAs the leading cause of overall disease burden in the world, with increasing global DALY counts, effective prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation strategies for disorders affecting the nervous system are needed

Beşinci bülümde de gazetenin ele aldığı önemli konuları detaylı bir şekilde analiz ettik.ABSTRACT The Kurdistan Newspaper was launched on April 22, 1898, in Cairo, the capital of Egypt. The newspaper was prepared and published by Mikdat Mithet Bedirhan. As this newspaper is the first newspaper to be published in Kurdish, Mikdat Mithet Bedirhan is the first Kurdish journalist to be the owner and publisher. The newspaper has received both positive and negative reactions with this first feature. It received positive reactions from Kurdish readers and negative reactions from Ottoman rule. The first five issues of Mikdat Midhet Bedirhan were published in Kurdish, except for the two petitions written to Sultan Abdulhamit on the fourth and fifth issues. 26 issues from the sixth one to the thirty-first one were prepared and published by Abdurrahman Bedirhan. Those issues published by Abdurrahman Bedirhan included mostly political issues of the period. Since the political language was Ottoman Turkish, the Kurdistan Newspaper was published in Ottoman Turkish rather than Kurdish. Kurdistan Newspaper became the starting point for the Kurdish press. Until this date, Kurdish writings, whether poetry or prose text, were always written by hand. Ehmedê Xanî's Mem û Zîn of and Şerefxanê Bedlîsî's Şerefname have been published in this newspaper for the first time. Thanks to the Kurdistan Newspaper, Kurdish literature and Kurdish printed works of Kurdish history met Kurdish readers. Due to these characteristics, we will examine the newspaper in terms of form, content and importance. In the first part of our study, the aim and the importance of the research, the techniques of our research and the resources used, the research framework and the problems encountered were discussed. In the second chapter, the studies on the Kurdistan newspaper were evaluated. In the third chapter Mikdat Mithat Bedirhan and Abdurrahman Bedirhan's biographies were examined in a few aspects. In the fourth chapter, I discussed all the issues of the newspaper one by one in order to better analyze the process and the changes took place. In the fifth chapter, I analyzed in detail the important issues discussed by the newspaper
