    Orbit and attitude determination results during launch support operations for SBS-5

    Presented are orbit and attitude determination results from the launch of Satellite Business Systems (SBS)-5 satellite on September 8, 1988 by Arianespace. SBS-5 is a (HS-376) spin stabilized spacecraft. The launch vehicle injected the spacecraft into a low inclination transfer orbit. Apogee motor firing (AMF) attitude was achieved with trim maneuvers. An apogee kick motor placed the spacecraft into drift orbit. Postburn, reorientation and spindown maneuvers were performed during the next 25 hours. The spacecraft was on-station 19 days later. The orbit and attitude were determined by both an extended Kalman filter and a weighted least squares batch processor. Although the orbit inclination was low and the launch was near equinox, post-AMF analysis indicated an attitude declination error of 0.034 deg., resulting in a saving of 8.5 pounds of fuel. The AMF velocity error was 0.4 percent below nominal. The post-AMF drift rate was determined with the filter only 2.5 hours after motor firing. The filter was used to monitor and retarget the reorientation to orbit normal in real time

    Challenges Specific to Women in Detoxification Settings: Providers’ Perspectives

    Within detox settings, women with substance use disorders may present with a myriad of risk factors and consequences related to their use. This research explored biopsychosocial issues specific to women using detoxification services and how medical concerns, comorbid mental health issues, trauma history, and pregnancy/children affected subsequent linkages to treatment by interviewing professionals who worked with this population within detoxification settings. Licensed professionals (n=8) were interviewed regarding their experiences with women in detox settings. The resulting data from interview transcriptions were analyzed, and themes that developed included admission contexts, vulnerability, comorbidity, barriers to treatment, and integrated care. Findings revealed common themes with vulnerabilities unique to women in detox settings, including significant physical and sexual trauma, medical and mental health comorbidity, and barriers to treatment such as being a custodial parent. The need for integrated care also arose as a common theme amongst participants. Awareness of these needs allows social workers to develop a deep understanding of the complexities that women with substance use disorders present with, especially those that access detox services, and acquire the skills to effectively work with this population to improve recovery outcomes

    Streets, screens, cyberspace: the youth’s everyday media in outskirts in Natal

    In the neighborhood of Guarapes, western outskirts of Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, a youth group was organized around hip hop culture to seek peace in their neighborhood. To tell their stories and strengthen the organization of your own place, they formed a group named Posse de Hip Hop Lelo Melodia. In 2009, the group installed the Bodega Digital, kind of telecentre that granted access to the internet and provided other tools to media and cultural production. In our master’s research, we looked for tracing relationships between political and cultural youth actions and their participation in mediaspaces, especially on the internet. In this article, we intend to unveil the daily media usage of these youths and explore some of the strategies adopted by them to bypass blockages in their movements arisen among the streets and cyberspace.No bairro do Guarapes, periferia oeste de Natal, no Rio Grande do Norte, um grupo de jovens se organizou na cultura hip hop para buscar a paz em sua vizinhança.     An algorithm for the detection of circular elements in engineering design

    Various concentrated works have been done in the area of computational vision regarding the circle and texture detections. Detection of circles in images can be beneficial for PCB components industries for the detection of capacitors in printed circuit boards, also for medicine in the detection of red cells, white blood cells, and leukocytes, and for applications which requires precision and assignments regarding the detection of circles in a digital image. In this work is utilized a benchmarking of images to detection circle boards of different radio values for the comparison with the work [1] of this article. The benchmarking of images is composed of five main images that are tested in the algorithm of detection of circles in MATLAB with different values of radio for each image. The results appoint an enhancement of 300 % concerning the algorithm proposed in work [1] showed in this article. In this work also would be plotted graphs concerning the accuracy of the new proposed algorithm with relation to the algorithm proposed in work [1], indicating better results concerning the GUI interfaces and capacity of detection circles
