Social networks as tools for the prevention and promotion of health among youth

The emergence of information and communication technologies (ICT) has generated a number of research questions, related to their use and potential risk, but also potentials for prevention or health promotion. Online social networks have become an important source of information for users as well as a tool for social relations. As traditional social networks, they can act as vehicles to improve the health of adolescents and youth, as well as play a key role in an educational context. The aim of this work is then to explore the theoretical relevance of ICT, particularly on online social networks, on disease prevention and health promotion of communicable diseases. Literature review points out the role of online social networks, particularly in the field of sexual health, body image, especially eating habits and overweight, as well as smoking and alcohol dependence. Data allow us to understand how online social network behavior and interaction is related to their burden and interventions developed in sexual health and addiction show positive results. Confinement Behavior

Some events are drivers for a change in the way we live life. When these events are not controllable, as has been the case with the coronavirus pandemic, everything is precipitated and the mechanisms of change are accelerated regardless of the type of culture, society, or economy in which they take place. Possibly it is the circumstances that directly affect the health of the population that are the most critical and are the ones that cause the greatest concern and change. This is the first time in history that we have had the opportunity to study lockdown behavior at a global level, analyzing how it affects citizens’ way of life. The most widespread restrictions in most countries of the world have revolved around increasing physical distance, lockdowns (total, by districts, or by specific areas), curfews (variable depending on the severity of the situation of each place), mandatory isolation in the case of testing positive for the infection, the suppression of all kinds of activities (cultural, sports, leisure), and the promotion of remote working to avoid, as much as possible, being in contact with others. The two main characteristics of mandatory isolation are, on the one hand, complete physical isolation from family and friends and, on the other, the absolute restriction of free movement. Both measures, also being combined with other factors, can generate significant changes in the levels of anxiety and stress of confined people. This is due to these people experiencing emotions of fear regarding illness and death, the possible loss of their jobs, the consequent economic problems, and the probability of increasing their level of being sedentary as a result of not being able to go outside to exercise. In this study, we propose, from a theoretical point of view, the precedents and consequences of lockdown behavior regarding the dimensions that we consider fundamental in people's lives. We analyze how lockdown influences lifestyle, from eating habits to sleeping patterns, digital behavior, physical activity, and emotional state, reaching the theoretical conclusion that all of these aspects can be significantly altered

Fray Antonio de Valdivieso como eco de las guerras de los encomenderos

Las Leyes Nuevas trajeron situaciones que vaticinaban hasta el derrumbe del establecimiento español en las Indias. No obstante, sus valedores, en la línea del padre Las Casas, como el obispo fray Antonio de Valdivieso, optaron por el enfrentamiento con los encomenderos, escribiendo cartas al Consejo de Indias en las que exponían las circunstancias de las que fueron testigos. Tan comprometida actuación desembocó en el asesinato de Valdivieso el 26 de febrero de 1550, consumado por los hijos de Rodrigo de Contreras, procesado en España y uno de los encomenderos de Nicaragua. Después, los Contreras se rebelaron contra el rey y fueron derrotados. Al mismo tiempo, el obispo de Guatemala, Francisco Marroquín expuso quejas por la actuación del licenciado Alonso López Cerrato, presidente de la Audiencia de los Confines y abiertamente lascasiano, y buscó vías alternativas para el beneficio de los naturales.The New Laws brought situations that predicted even the collapse of the Spanish establishment in the Indies. El elogio fúnebre de Montesquieu al duque de Berwick

Montesquieu escribió el elogio fúnebre del duque de Berwick como deber de amistad y como compromiso con la familia, a la que, en definitiva, el autor de L'esprit des lois tanto debía. El 'ébauche', mero borrador de lo que pudo haber sido, figuró desde la primera edición junto a las Mémoires de Berwick por obra y voluntad de su editor, el abate Houke. En este trabajo analizamos las características que según la preceptiva clásica aparecen en la obra que Montesquieu dedicó a James Fitz-James.Montesquieu va escriure l'elogi fúnebre del duc de Berwick com a deure d'amistat i com a compromís amb la família, a la qual, en definitiva, l'autor de L'esprit des lois tant devia. L'ébauche, mer esborrany del que va poder haver estat, va figurar des de la primera edició al costat de les Mémoires de Berwick per obra i voluntat del seu editor, l'abat Houke. El presente proyecto tiene la finalidad de demostrar que la geotermia es un recurso más a tener en cuenta para la producción eléctrica, una alternativa que permite lograr un planeta algo menos contaminado, sin renunciar por ello a las facilidades que da la electricidad. Estilos de vida de estudiantes universitarios españoles durante el confinamiento por COVID-19

During the 2020 stay-at-home lockdown ordered as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic, university students had access to diverse digital technologies, which offered researchers the opportunity to study changes in their lifestyles while they occurred and to classify them into groups according to such lifestyles. Therefore, the main objective of this research is to establish a typology of university students according to the lifestyles they followed during the lockdown, based on the study of their daily routines, emotional state, media consumption habits and use of apps. The study is based on a sample of 913 Spanish university students. Data has been processed with SPSS 28.0 and SPAD 5.0. The following six groups were identified by using factor analysis and multiple correspondence analysis: 1) the fearless and adapted (21%); 2) the unhealthy (22.56%); 3) the hardworking and studious (27.93%); 4) the hyperconnected (9.09%); 5) the sedentary and withdrawn (13.85%); and 6) the athletic and healthy (6.68%). The use of apps for social relations is shown as a relevant construct, in relation to other indicators such as emotional state, time spent on studies, leisure, family and physical activity. The lifestyles observed exhibit differences with respect to sports activity, eating habits and rest routines, as well as time spent on academic and professional activities.El acceso a la tecnología digital por parte de la población universitaria durante el confinamiento mundial por la COVID-19 ofrece al contexto académico la oportunidad de estudiar los cambios en sus estilos vida en el mismo momento en el que estos se están produciendo analizando de forma única su posible segmentación. Por ello, el objetivo principal de esta investigación es establecer una clasificación de estudiantes universitarios en grupos en función del constructo estilo de vida adoptado durante el confinamiento, a partir del estudio de sus rutinas diarias, actividad física, estado emocional, hábitos de consumo de medios y uso de aplicaciones digitales. Se ha analizado una muestra de 913 jóvenes universitarios en España. Los datos se han procesado con SPSS 28.0 y SPAD 5.0. A partir de un análisis factorial y de clasificación se han obtenido seis grupos diferenciados: 1- Sin miedo y adaptados/as (21%), 2-No healthy (22.56%), 3-Trabajadores/as y estudiantes aplicado/as (27,93%), 4-Hiperconetados/as (9,09%), 5-Sedendarios/as y poco sociables (13,85%) y 6-Deportistas y sanos/as (6,68%). El uso de aplicaciones digitales y las relaciones sociales online se muestra como un constructo relevante, en relación a otros indicadores como el estado emocional, el tiempo dedicado a los estudios, al ocio, la familia y la actividad física. Los estilos de vida observados muestran diferencias respecto a rutinas deportivas, de alimentación y descanso, así como al tiempo dedicado a tareas académicas y profesionales

Juan López de Velasco, la "Descripción universal" y otros oficios sutiles

Juan López de Velasco fue un personaje complejo, cuyos trabajos en el Consejo de Indias culminaron una obra magna, la Descripción universal de las Indias, documento potentísimo que no vio la luz hasta 1894. Además, en una vida dedicada al trabajo y al estudio, Velasco buscó la determinación de la longitud a través de la observación de los eclipses lunares pero, al mismo tiempo, actuó de censor, eliminando un par de tratados del Lazarillo de Tormes y dando a la imprenta un Lazarillo castigado que estuvo vigente trescientos años, salvando el libro para la posteridad. Por otra parte, Velasco quiso entender de ortografía y de ortología y propuso medidas de cuya vigencia da noticia el hecho de que fueron fundamento para la norma ortográfica posterior, sancionada por la RAE. También se preocupó por la educación de la infancia y presentó al rey Felipe II propuestas que tuvieron seguimiento unos años después. Podemos pensar que Velasco acaso fue el primer polígrafo del Renacimiento español.Juan López de Velasco was a complex character, whose job in the Consejo de Indias culminated in a major work, the Descripción universal de las Indias, a powerful document which did not see the light until 1894. Besides, in a life devoted to work and study, Velasco sought to gauge length through the observation of Lunar eclipses, but, at the same time, he acted as censor, removing a couple of treatises on Lazarillo de Tormes and giving to the printer a Lazarillo castigado which was in force for three hundred years, keeping the book for posterity. On the other hand, Velasco dallied with orthography and orthology and proposed measures which are still in place since they lay the foundations for the later orthographic norm, sanctioned by the RAE. He was concerned with children's education and presented to the king Philip II proposals which were followed up some years afterwards. We may consider Velasco the first polygraph of the Spanish Renaissance

La pulverización es la forma más difundida de aplicación de fitosanitarios en Argentina. Debido a que el mercado está yendo hacia fitosanitarios más selectivos, menos tóxicos, con menos persistencia y que se degraden más rápido, el uso de coadyuvantes debe considerarse como una herramienta de manejo que puede mejorar no sólo el desempeño de los fitosanitarios, sino también la eficacia de los resultados. El objetivo del ensayo fue evaluar la calidad de aplicación de diferentes boquillas de uso común, haciendo uso y no uso de un coadyuvante natural no iónico como la lecitina de soja. Los diseños de pastillas que se utilizaron fueron: abanico plano aire inducido (GA), Turbo (TT), cono hueco aire inducido (AITX), cono hueco (TXA).Facultad de Ciencias Agrarias y Forestale
