In the Era of Computers, Internet and Multimedia, are we still Teaching Composers to become Chapel-Masters?

The ongoing paradigm shift from traditional methods of teaching music composition towards new approaches based on computer technology for sound production is the main focus of the article. The paper reviews the evolution of teaching methods throughout the Classical, Romantic and Modern periods, demonstrating how certain standard practices from former ages, based on the professional profile of the Chapel-Master, become theoretical golden principles for subsequent periods. After the French Revolution the traditional method of individual practical exchange between master and disciple was upgraded at the Conservatory. Classes for groups of students required a new approach based on theory abstraction. Although none of these teaching methods have been abandoned up today, a new paradigm appears when the tools of computer technology became widespread. Hibridismo, Consistência e Processos de Significação na Música Modernista de Villa-Lobos

A análise do Rudepoema, peça chave na produção de Villa-Lobos, demonstra sua técnica no uso de coleções simétricas no contexto pós-tonal, seguindo o caminho aberto por Debussy e Stravinsky. Suas conquistas podem ser comparadas às de Bartók na Hungria no que diz respeito à utilização do folclore brasileiro na linguagem modernista. Todavia a dissecação dos materiais revela um uso intensivo e inesperado de transformações motívicas e temáticas que se prestam à unificação da estrutura em blocos predominante. Deste processo de integração resulta uma forma híbrida de grande envergadura que sintetiza as funções formais da forma sonata com o caráter seccional dos conjuntos de variações. Este tropo de formas pode ser chamado de sonata-variações. Villa-Lobos também recupera a alternância de significações tópicas, característica do período clássico, para conseguir um processo de desenvolvimento da forma e, ao mesmo tempo, sugerir interpretações de exotismo do almejado público parisiense. Colorindo o discurso com tópicas contrastantes, Villa-Lobos nos permite correlacionar os materiais aos sentidos de “civilizado” e “selvagem”, uma oposição entre dois campos tópicos que representava um tema favorito das culturas francesa e brasileira daquele período

Morphological Description of Selected Pigeonpea (\u3ci\u3eCajanus cajan\u3c/i\u3e (L.) Millsp.) Lines

Seventeen pigeonpea pure line accessions selected for desirable forage traits and three commercial cultivars were described according to morphological characters. The following descriptors were used: growth habit, plant height, number of primary and secondary branches, stem color and thickness, leaf shape and hairiness, flower base and second color, pattern of flower streaks, flowering pattern, immature and mature pod color, pod form and hairiness, seed color pattern, base and second seed color, seed eye (region around hilum) color and seed shape and width. Each individual line and cultivar was satisfactorily distinguished from the others by the chosen characters

O artigo discute a necessidade de se pensar a formação do sujeito moral sob a perspectiva da análise da linguagem e suas implicações nos estudos sobre a função da retórica na política no Segundo Discurso de Jean-Jacques Rousseau. A concepção do homem natural auxilia na noção do sujeito moral e a narrativa sobre o estado de natureza revela-nos a tríade linguagem, língua e retórica. Sucessões que integram a concepção do homem como indivíduo com consciência de si mesmo, o início da sociedade civil ligado à ideia da propriedade e o estabelecimento da sociedade civil com o discurso “sedutor” do rico que propõe o pacto político. De um ser disperso no estado de natureza, o homem se constitui como sujeito moral que supõe o uso da linguagem. O sujeito moral também utiliza a língua de modo retórico ao propor o pacto político. Use of deep multi-target prediction to identify learning styles

It is possible to classify students according to the manner they recognize, process, and store information. This classification should be considered when developing adaptive e-learning systems. It also creates a comprehension of the different styles students demonstrate while in the process of learning, which can help adaptive e-learning systems offer advice and instructions to students, teachers, administrators, and parents in order to optimize students’ learning processes. Moreover, e-learning systems using computational and statistical algorithms to analyze students’ learning may offer the opportunity to complement traditional learning evaluation methods with new ones based on analytical intelligence. In this work, we propose a method based on deep multi-target prediction algorithm using Felder–Silverman learning styles model to improve students’ learning evaluation using feature selection, learning styles models, and multiple target classification. A expressão corporal e a evolução da animação em personagens inanimados

A evolução do cinema tem sido acompanhado pela tecnologia o que vem proporcionando cada vez mais possibilidades de realizações de novas ideias e de novas estórias. Graças a melhoria dos computadores é possível hoje em dia através dos efeitos especiais, criar novas oportunidades de contar algo que o argumentista escreveu e que antigamente eram praticamente impossíveis de realização. Juntamente com o cinema, a animação também vem seguindo essas novas descobertas melhorando sua narrativa e sua forma de se expressar. Toda essa evolução é demonstrada através de uma série de personagens dos mais diferentes tipos como animais ou objetos inanimados, mas que são capazes de nos transmitir exemplos de sentimentos ao logo de uma estória, de maneiras cada vez mais convincentes. Personagens que supostamente não poderiam expressar sentimentos de felicidade, medo, compaixão como um carro chamado McQueen que tem a personalidade de alguém convencido e de que é bom em tudo o que faz. Ou então um animal como um peixe, com o nome de Dory e que é muito simpática e com problemas de memória, são exemplos dos quais a evolução das técnicas de animação e da tecnologia ajudaram os animadores a expressar todas essas características através dos personagens. Mas nada disso teria tanta importância se não houvesse as atuações das personagens principais, do centro de todo o conjunto. Além do diretor e de toda a produção técnica, há os artistas que usam a descrição chamada “Expressão Corporal”, que tem como finalidade demonstrar todas as emoções e sentimentos que a estória tem a transmitir através dos atores. Tanto em um filme quanto em um show de teatro, são os atores que nos passam todas as sensações em suas ações. Graças à Expressão Corporal da atuação do ator no filme que podemos sentir e perceber toda a mensagem criada pelos produtores do filme/animação. Esta dissertação tem como principal intenção o estudo da expressão corporal e sua maneira de transmitir emoções e sentimentos que são usadas nos filmes e na animação ao longo dos anos. Pretende-se conhecer parte da sua origem e como vem evoluindo ao longo do tempo através do desenvolvimento da tecnologia que proporciona cada vez mais desafios e novos meios para um animador/ator se preparar para atuar/interpretar ações em seres supostamente inanimados.The evolution of cinema has been followed by technology that is providing more and more opportunities for achieving new ideas and new forms of storytelling. Thanks to recent improvements in computer graphics, it is possible today, through special effects, to create new opportunities to create something that the writer imagined and that years ago were impossible to accomplish. Along with film, feature animation has also been following these new discoveries, improving their narrative and their way of expressing themselves. All this evolution is demonstrated through a series of characters of different types like animals or inanimate objects, that are able to demonstrate human feelings over the story, in ways increasingly more convincing. Characters, who supposedly could not express feelings of happiness, fear or compassion, like a car named Lightning McQueen, now has the personality of someone that is the best and that is good at everything he does. Or a fish named Dory that is very friendly and has memory problems. These are some examples of the evolution of animation techniques and technology which helped animators to express all these features through the characters. But none of this would matter so much if it were not for the actings of the main characters, the center of everything. In addition to the director and the entire technical production, there are artists who use a description called "Body Expression," which aims to show all the emotions and feelings that the story has to pass through the actors. Like in a movie or a theater show, it's the actors who show us all the feelings in their actions. Thanks to the body expression of the performance of the actor in the film, we can feel and see the entire message created by the producers of the film/animation. This dissertation has as main purpose the study of body language and its way of conveying emotions and feelings that are used in movies and animation over the years. It is intended to meet part of their origin and how it has evolved over time through the development of technology that provides increased challenges and new ways for an animator / actor to prepare to act / interpret actions of supposedly inanimate beings

Harmonic Perception and Voice Leading Spaces of Set Classes Related by Unordered Interval Classes

We call PCORD the prime form the interval string of Forte’s set classes. Analysis based on PCORD relations can yield a structural similarity between two different set classes, besides some possible perceptual likeness, measured by trichordal content. However different, the PCORD relation is analog to Forte’s Z-relation, but more embracing. This study provides the table of all set classes related by PCORD to be used as an analytical and compositional tool. The paper points out a precursor analytical use of the PCORD relation by Richard Parks in Debussy’s music. To demonstrate the analytical application of PCORD-relations, we analyzed four excerpts: from Hans Otte’s Das Buch der Klänge (1982), Villa-Lobos’ Rudepoema (1920) and from Coelho de Souza’s Metropolis (1990) and Dialogues (1987). We also analyzed the harmonic content of set classes using trichords or PCORDs of cardinality 3 and the PCORD connections in the voice-leading space of set classes with cardinality 3 to 9. Finally, we proposed that PCORD theory can be used as a compositional tool to engender harmonic directionality in atonal progressions

Injury profile of a soccer player training center: An epidemiological study

oai:ojs2.mednext.zotarellifilhoscientificworks.com:article/1Objective: To carry out an epidemiological analysis characterizing the type and location of the injury, severity based on recovery time, game position, and injury for hours of exposure. Methods: Data collection was carried out in the sub 15, sub 17, and sub 20 categories and verified records made by the medical team of the club, which was trained to use the F-MARC form (a form of the medical research center of the International Football Federation - FIFA) at the beginning of the season. To perform the data analysis, the GraphPad Prism software was used. All variables were analyzed using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test. Results: In relation to the 129 athletes monitored during the season, 62 athletes presented some injury during the season, presenting 42.2 injuries for every 1000 hours of play, the Sub 15 category was the one with the highest incidence of injury, followed by the Sub17 and U20. The average time of leave after injury was 3.65 ± 4.2 weeks, the Defenders were the ones with the highest injury rate. There were 27 articular injuries (43.54%), 25 muscle injuries (40.32%), 9 bone injuries (15.41%), and one pathological injury (1.61%), and the most affected regions were ankle and knee. Conclusion: It is concluded that the moment of the game is the moment when the greatest number of injuries occurs, having a greater incidence in the athletes of the category Sub 15, the Defenders suffered more injuries and the Lower Limbs were more affected, mainly by articular traumas

Uma análise de Desirs d’Hiver de Nepomuceno utilizando uma teoria de parcimônia cromática com dissonâncias

Este artigo tem um duplo propósito: o primeiro é propor um modelo teórico de análise que considere a parcimônia cromática entre acordes levando em conta consonâncias e dissonâncias. Esse modelo observa as operações concretas que um compositor realiza ao compor no estilo cromático, reconhece suas possibilidades combinatórias e propõe uma taxonomia para seu reconhecimento na análise; o segundo propósito é aplicar esse modelo na análise da canção Desirs d’Hiver (1894) de Nepomuceno, sobre texto de Maeterlinck, que emprega intensivamente dissonâncias, parcimônia cromática de diversos tipos e modulações para centros tonais distantes, um problema que é abordado pela teoria neo-Riemanniana. A principal conclusão da análise é que Nepomuceno combina eficientemente a lógica convergente da funcionalidade harmônica tonal e os processos divergentes da parcimônia cromática.
