«Tan práctico es pensar como cavar la tierra»: filosofía, educación y paisaje en Giner de los Ríos

Giner de los Ríos transformó el krausismo en una filosofía práctica. De nada sirve la filosofía si no es capaz de suscitar un pensamiento autónomo que inspire a su vez una acción. Y esa renovación filosófica se llevó a cabo por medio de la educación, arte de vivir que permite armonizar la teoría y la práctica, la inteligencia y la voluntad, la naturaleza y el espíritu. Aprendemos a filosofar cuando prescindimos de las ideas ajenas y extraemos el pensamiento del contacto directo con el mundo circundante. De igual modo, captamos el sentido de lo bello cuando nuestra sensibilidad dialoga con la naturaleza sin el reflejo del espejo artístico. El excursionismo y la pedagogía del paisaje confieren sentido estético y ético a la filosofía gineriana, cuya herencia intelectual será más reconocible en Ortega que en la generación finisecular.Giner transformed Krausism into a practical philosophy. Philosophy is useless if it is not able to create an autonomous thinking that in turn inspires action. And this philosophical renewal was carried out by means of education, art of living that allows to harmonize theory and practice, intelligence and will, nature and spirit. We learn to philosophize when we ignore other people’s ideas and thinking draws direct contact with the surrounding world. Similarly, we grasp the sense of beauty when our sensibility dialogues with nature without the reflection of the artistic mirror. Hiking and pedagogy landscape confer an aesthetic and ethical sense to Giner’s philosophy, whose intellectual legacy will be more recognizable in Ortega than in the finisecular generation

La empresa en la economía sumergida

Este trabajo se centra en conocer y cuantificar la economía sumergida en España y Europa. Para ello, se ha realizado a través de su concepto y sus determinantes, las consecuencias, los efectos y los métodos de cuantificación. Además, se han abordado las razones fiscales y financieras que tanto individuos como empresas practican. Todo ello ha sido apoyado mediante datos de los niveles de economía sumergida que existen en los diferentes territorios. España se encuentra por encima de los niveles medios de economía sumergida respecto de Europa. Los sectores donde más abundan este tipo de prácticas son la hostelería, la construcción y el pequeño comercio, además de ser los países con menor carga fiscal los más afectados por este problemaThis paper is focused on the evaluation and quantification of shadow economy in Spain and Europe. This goal has been carried through the definition of its concept, determinants, consequences, effects and methods of quantification. In addition, the fiscal and financial reasons practiced by both individuals and companies have been adressed. All of this has been supported by data about the levels of shadow economy that exists in different territories. Spain is situated above the average of shadow economy in Europe. Methodology for the metric restoration of the historical cartography applied to Francisco Coello's cartografic series of the Royal Site of Aranjuez

Hojas Kilométricas (Kilometric Sheets). Specifically, the study focuses on those sheets referring to the city centre and surrounding area of the Royal Site of Aranjuez, a town in the south of the Province of Madrid. The aim of this study is to restore the actual size and measurements of scanned images of the Hojas Kilométricas. This would allow us, among other things, to reestablish both the format and scale of the original plans. To achieve this goal it is necessary to rectify and then georeference these images, i.e. assign them a geographic reference system. This procedure is essential in the overlaying and comparison of the Hojas Kilométricas of the Royal Site with other historical cartography as well as other sources related to the same area from different time periods. Subsequent research would allow us, for example, to reconstruct the time-evolution of the urban area, to spot new construction and to pinpoint the locations of any altered or missing buildings or architectural features. In addition, this would allow us to develop and integrate databases for GIS models applicable to the management of our cultural heritage

Is Active Voice Enough? Community Discussions on Passive Voice, MMIWG2S, and Violence against Urban Indigenous Women in San José, California

Men commit violence against Native American women at higher rates than other racial or ethnic groups. When violence against Indigenous women is discussed and written about, it is often in passive voice. Several scholars note the problem of using passive voice to talk about violence against women, but there is little research on how women themselves understand passive voice as connected to the violence perpetrated against them, and we found no literature on how Native women understand passive voice. This research asks how urban Native and Indigenous women understand passive language in relationship to violence. The authors, who are all members of the Red Earth Women’s Society (REWS), took up this conversation with urban Indigenous women in San José, California, in a year-long series of meetings that culminated in three focus-group discussions (FGD)/talking circles (TC) where Native women expressed their understanding of passive language and violence against Native women. From these exploratory talking circles, we found that Native women’s understanding of passive voice aligned with previous research on passive voice, but also contributed new insights
