BlueLab IoT, a Universal Software Platform for IoT Data Acquisition Devices
Physical devices with different sensors and sampling rates distributed over several unrelated locations need to store their values over time. Applications that need the result of a set of sensors must access their data. A common and simple interface within the physical devices, monitoring stations, to store data on a database is needed; as also a simple and common retrieval interface for any application that only shows the data as it is or processes it into higher levels of significance. BlueLab IoT is a platform with libraries and an interface application to aid that development; a working implementation is provided
Cyber Physical System applied in poultry production
a use case of poultry counting on a production line in Portugal is presented as a first step for Industry 4.0 application. Along the poultry production line there are several transformation and translation steps in which the fowls are subjected to, and their quantity in the line may change; some are removed or fall out and others are recovered and inserted in precise places of the line. Those changes can be used as an indicator of the status of the production line at that may influence the improvement of its efficiency. This paper presents a working solution of five wireless devices along a poultry production line and the complete system where data is stored locally for maintenance and supervisor decisions, and also data is stored at a remote database for management purposes which can be accessed by a mobile application
Reconfigurable photonic logic architecture
The amorphous silicon photo-sensor studied in this thesis, is a double pin structure (p(a-SiC:H)-i’(a-SiC:H)-n(a-SiC:H)-p(a-SiC:H)-i(a-Si:H)-n(a-Si:H)) sandwiched between two transparent contacts deposited over transparent glass thus with the possibility of illumination on both sides, responding to wave-lengths from the ultra-violet, visible to the near infrared range. The frontal il-lumination surface, glass side, is used for light signal inputs. Both surfaces are used for optical bias, which changes the dynamic characteristics of the photo-sensor resulting in different outputs for the same input. Experimental studies were made with the photo-sensor to evaluate its applicability in multiplexing and demultiplexing several data communication channels. The digital light sig-nal was defined to implement simple logical operations like the NOT, AND, OR, and complex like the XOR, MAJ, full-adder and memory effect. A pro-grammable pattern emission system was built and also those for the validation and recovery of the obtained signals. This photo-sensor has applications in op-tical communications with several wavelengths, as a wavelength detector and to execute directly logical operations over digital light input signals
ElectroGes - a Household IoT Energy Management System
Domestic appliances plugged to the electrical mains power may, at some point, exceed the maximum contracted power supplied from the electrical company. To avoid a power cut-off on these cases, an energy management system is needed so that some appliances are automatically switched off before others are switched on. In order to do this, appliances have to be described in a privileged structure so that power is always available for some of them while other share leftovers. ElecroGes is a system that provides the house owner with a means to define the priorities of the connected appliances and manage them in an autonomous way; a working implementation is provided
Investments in the Brazilian Space Agency and the patenting process: a correlation analysis
Abstract Purpose – This study aims to analyze the correlation between the investments in the Brazilian Space Agency (BSA) and the patenting process. Design/methodology/approach – The methodology used was a statistical analysis through correlation and linear regression between the secondary data of investments made by the federal government, retrieved from the Transparency Portal, in the BSA and the patenting process, taking into consideration the number of invention, utility model and certificate of addition of invention. Findings – After a brief presentation of the emergence of innovation and patent applications with the investments of governments in space agencies, this study presents the analysis of information in different times of investment that showed positive correlation between the two variables adopted. Originality/value – One can point to the value of this study as strategic investments in space agencies to boost the filing of patents in a nation in the most diverse areas
Parasite Fauna of Lutjanus synagris Commercialized in the Fish Market from Bragança-PA, Brazil
Studies about the parasite fauna of marine fish highlights as an important problem for public health with zoonotic parasites or affecting the fish quality. Thus, this study evaluated the parasite fauna of Lutjanus synagris commercialized in the fish market from Bragança-PA. In laboratory, 58 fish were measured, weighted and conducted to parasitological analysis to determine parasitological indexes and relative dominance. Every parasite was fixed and identified until to the lowest taxonomic level. Through the parasitological analysis, it found Cymothoidae, Digenea, Cucullanus sp. and Procamallanus (Spirocamallanus) sp., with total prevalence 67.24%. Digenea showed the highest prevalence and mean intensity values. For nematode, Cucullanus sp. obtained the greater prevalence and relative dominance, while Procamallanus (Spirocamallanus) sp. showed the greater mean intensity and abundance. Cymothoidae showed the lowest prevalence and mean intensity values. As conclusion, the parasite fauna of L. synagris has been noted with low diversity, reporting the nematode occurrence Procamallanus (Spirocamallanus)
