Collider Bounds on Lee-Wick Higgs Bosons
We study the constraints on the Lee-Wick Higgs sector arising from direct
collider searches. We work in an effective-field theory framework, where all of
the Lee-Wick partners are integrated out, with the sole exception of the
Lee-Wick Higgs bosons. The resulting theory is a two-Higgs doublet model where
the second doublet has wrong-sign kinetic and mass terms. We include the bounds
coming from direct Higgs searches at both LEP and Tevatron using the code
HiggsBounds, and show the currently excluded parameter space. We also analyze
the prospects of LHC Run-I, finding that with a total integrated luminosity of
5 fb and a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV, most of the parameter space
for the SM-like CP-even Higgs will be probed.Comment: 26 pages, 5 figures, matches version published by PR
Simulation of Professional Perfomance, Didactic Tool in Teaching Sport Sciences
La simulación ha permitido adquirir competencias en la elaboración y análisis de propuestas aplicadas y el desarrollo de competencias transversales relacionadas con toma de decisiones, trabajo autónomo y en equipo, aspectos determinantes en el éxito profesional de los futuros egresadosThe implantation of the European Higher Education Area and its linkage with the future job of the student has permitted the application of a methodology based on the simulation of professional skills, which offers the possibility not only to acquire knowledge but also to apply, analyze and take decisions practicing. Students, through a methodology consisting of five sequential phases in situations close to the professional reality, have built their own learning, have designed new teaching approaches and finally shared their results. The results show the implication of students on the learning process by connecting practical applications and possible future professional reality. In-flight calibration of the INTEGRAL/IBIS mask
Since the release of the INTEGRAL Offline Scientific Analysis (OSA) software
version 9.0, the ghost busters module has been introduced in the INTEGRAL/IBIS
imaging procedure, leading to an improvement of the sensitivity around bright
sources up to a factor of 7. This module excludes in the deconvolution process
the IBIS/ISGRI detector pixels corresponding to the projection of a bright
source through mask elements affected by some defects. These defects are most
likely associated with screws and glue fixing the IBIS mask to its support.
Following these major improvements introduced in OSA 9, a second order
correction is still required to further remove the residual noise, now at a
level of 0.2-1% of the brightest source in the field of view. In order to
improve our knowledge of the IBIS mask transparency, a calibration campaign has
been carried out during 2010-2012. We present here the analysis of these data,
together with archival observations of the Crab and Cyg X-1, that allowed us to
build a composite image of the mask defects and to investigate the origin of
the residual noise in the IBIS/ISGRI images. Thanks to this study, we were able
to point out a simple modification of the ISGRI analysis software that allows
to significantly improve the quality of the images in which bright sources are
detected at the edge of the field of view. Moreover, a refinement of the area
excluded by the ghost busters module is considered, and preliminary results
show improvements to be further tested. Finally, this study indicates further
directions to be investigated for improving the ISGRI sensitivity, such as
taking into account the thickness of the screws in the mask model or studying
the possible discrepancy between the modeled and actual mask element bridges.Comment: accepted for publication in the proceedings of "An INTEGRAL view of

Seven parton amplitudes from recursion relations
We present the first calculation of two-quark and five-gluon tree amplitudes
using on-shell recursion relations. These amplitudes are needed for tree level
5-jet cross-section and an essential ingredient for next-to-leading order 4-jet
and next-to-next-to-leading order 3-jet production at hadronic colliders. Very
compact expressions for all possible helicity configurations are provided,
allowing for direct implementation in Monte-Carlo codes.Comment: 11 page
Recent activity of the Be/X-ray binary system SAX J2103.5+4545
Aims. We present a multiwavelength study of the Be/X-ray binary system SAX
J2103.5+4545 with the goal of better characterizing the transient behaviour of
this source.
Methods. SAX J2103.5+4545 was observed by Swift-XRT four times in 2007 from
April 25 to May 5, and during quiescence in 2012 August 31. In addition, this
source has been monitored from the ground-based astronomical observatories of
El Teide (Tenerife, Spain), Roque de los Muchachos (La Palma, Spain) and Sierra
Nevada (Granada, Spain) since 2011 August, and from the TUBITAK National
Observatory (Antalya, Turkey) since 2009 June. We have performed spectral and
photometric temporal analyses in order to investigate the different states
exhibited by SAX J2103.5+4545.
Results. In X-rays, an absorbed power law model provided the best fit for all
the XRT spectra. An iron-line feature at ~6.42 keV was present in all the
observations except for that taken during quiescence in 2012. The photon
indexes are consistent with previous studies of SAX J2103.5+4545 in high/low
luminosity states. Pulsations were found in all the XRT data from 2007
(2.839(2) mHz; MJD 54222.02), but not during quiescence. Both optical outbursts
in 2010 and 2012 lasted for about 8/9 months (as the one in 2007 probably did
and the current one in 2014 might do) and were most probably caused by mass
ejection events from the Be star that eventually fed the circumstellar disc.
All of these outbursts started about 3 months before the triggering of the
X-ray activity, and about the same period before the maximum of the H_alpha
line equivalent width (in emission) was reached at only ~ -5 \AA. In this work
we found that the global correlation between the BV variability and the X-ray
intensity was also observed at longer wavelengths in the IR domain.Comment: 11 pages, 7 figures, and online material (2 tables). Submitted to A&A

Reconstructing parton collisions with machine learning techniques
Having access to the parton-level kinematics is important for understanding
the internal dynamics of particle collisions. Here, we present new results
aiming to an efficient reconstruction of parton collisions using
machine-learning techniques. By simulating the collider events, we related
experimentally-accessible quantities with the momentum fractions of the
involved partons. We used photon-hadron production to exploit the cleanliness
of the photon signal, including up to NLO QCD-QED corrections. Neural networks
led to an outstanding reconstruction efficiency, suggesting a powerful strategy
for unveiling the behaviour of the fundamental bricks of matter in high-energy
collisions.Comment: 4 pages, 2 figures. Contribution to the Proceedings of the ICHEP 2022
