    Selective activation of microglia in spinal cord but not higher cortical regions following nerve injury in adult mouse

    Neuronal plasticity along the pathway for sensory transmission including the spinal cord and cortex plays an important role in chronic pain, including inflammatory and neuropathic pain. While recent studies indicate that microglia in the spinal cord are involved in neuropathic pain, a systematic study has not been performed in other regions of the central nervous system (CNS). In the present study, we used heterozygous Cx3cr1GFP/+mice to characterize the morphological phenotypes of microglia following common peroneal nerve (CPN) ligation. We found that microglia showed a uniform distribution throughout the CNS, and peripheral nerve injury selectively activated microglia in the spinal cord dorsal horn and related ventral horn. In contrast, microglia was not activated in supraspinal regions of the CNS, including the anterior cingulate cortex (ACC), prefrontal cortex (PFC), primary and secondary somatosensory cortex (S1 and S2), insular cortex (IC), amygdala, hippocampus, periaqueductal gray (PAG) and rostral ventromedial medulla (RVM). Our results provide strong evidence that nerve injury primarily activates microglia in the spinal cord of adult mice, and pain-related cortical plasticity is likely mediated by neurons

    Study on natural characteristics of fiber metal laminates thin plates under cantilever boundary

    Through the combination of theory and experiment, the natural characteristics of the fiber metal laminates thin plates under cantilever boundary are analyzed and verified. Based on the mechanics of composites and classical laminated plate theory, the theoretical model is established. The orthogonal polynomial method and the energy method are used to solve the natural characteristics. Meanwhile the calculation process is proposed. And then, the natural characteristics of a TA2/TC500 fiber metal laminates thin plate are tested. It is found that comparing the calculation results of the frequencies with the test ones, the errors are within the range of 3.4 % to 4.5 %, the trends of modal shapes are consistent as well, thus the effectiveness of above method has been verified

    The Effect of Cardiac Rehabilitation on Lipid Levels in Patients with Coronary Heart Disease. A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

    Background: Cardiac rehabilitation (CR) is a multidisciplinary medical program. Most studies have emphasized the effect of exercise-based CR in lowering lipid levels; however, the effect of CR as a comprehensive program on lipid levels remains unclear. Methods: Electronic database were searched up to 2022. Randomized controlled trials with lipid profile indicators were included. Standardized mean differences (SMDs) and 95% CIs were used to evaluate the effect size. Begg’s funnel plot and Egger’s linear regression test were used to assess publication bias. Results: CR remarkably reduced low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels (SMD = –0.23; 95%CI: [–0.38, –0.08]; P < 0.001), triglyceride (TG) levels (SMD = –0.17; 95%CI: [–0.28, –0.06]; P < 0.001), and total cholesterol (TC) levels (SMD = –0.30; 95%CI: [–0.43, –0.16]; P < 0.001) and increased high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) levels (SMD = 0.19; 95%CI: [0.10, 0.29]; P < 0.001). Conclusions: CR reduce TC, TG, and LDL-C levels while improving HDL-C levels. CR should be promoted and more trials should be conducted for long-term CR

    A generalized model via random walks for information filtering

    There could exist a simple general mechanism lurking beneath collaborative filtering and interdisciplinary physics approaches which have been successfully applied to online E-commerce platforms. Motivated by this idea, we propose a generalized model employing the dynamics of the random walk in the bipartite networks. Taking into account the degree information, the proposed generalized model could deduce the collaborative filtering, interdisciplinary physics approaches and even the enormous expansion of them. Furthermore, we analyze the generalized model with single and hybrid of degree information on the process of random walk in bipartite networks, and propose a possible strategy by using the hybrid degree information for different popular objects to toward promising precision of the recommendation

    Standard Radar API: Proposal Version 0.1

    This publication describes a radar API that enables different radar options to be used without changing higher level software layers. The radar API supports frequency-modulated continuous-wave (FMCW) radar and other radar types. The radar API also supports interleaved radar configurations, so that different features may use different burst configurations simultaneously. For example, the radar API may support a dual burst configuration, where a first configuration is optimized for the longest range and a second configuration uses a wider bandwidth optimized for better range resolution. Together, the burst configurations may run simultaneously so that the algorithms supporting different features may consume their optimal input stream

    Observation of plateau regions for zero bias peaks within 5% of the quantized conductance value 2e2/h2e^2/h

    Probing an isolated Majorana zero mode is predicted to reveal a tunneling conductance quantized at 2e2/h2e^2/h at zero temperature. Experimentally, a zero-bias peak (ZBP) is expected and its height should remain robust against relevant parameter tuning, forming a quantized plateau. Here, we report the observation of large ZBPs in a thin InAs-Al hybrid nanowire device. The ZBP height can stick close to 2e2/h2e^2/h, mostly within 5% tolerance, by sweeping gate voltages and magnetic field. We further map out the phase diagram and identify two plateau regions in the phase space.
