Automated parameters for troubled-cell indicators using outlier detection
In Vuik and Ryan (2014) we studied the use of troubled-cell indicators for discontinuity detection in nonlinear hyperbolic partial differential equations and introduced a new multiwavelet technique to detect troubled cells. We found that these methods perform well as long as a suitable, problem-dependent parameter is chosen. This parameter is used in a threshold which decides whether or not to detect an element as a troubled cell. Until now, these parameters could not be chosen automatically. The choice of the parameter has impact on the approximation: it determines the strictness of the troubled-cell indicator. An inappropriate choice of the parameter will result in detection (and limiting) of too few or too many elements. The optimal parameter is chosen such that the minimal number of troubled cells is detected and the resulting approximation is free of spurious oscillations. In this paper we will see that for each troubled-cell indicator the sudden increase or decrease of the indicator value with respect to the neighboring values is important for detection. Indication basically reduces to detecting the outliers of a vector (one dimension) or matrix (two dimensions). This is done using Tukey's boxplot approach to detect which coefficients in a vector are straying far beyond others (Tukey, 1977). We provide an algorithm that can be applied to various troubled-cell indication variables. Using this technique the problem-dependent parameter that the original indicator requires is no longer necessary as the parameter will be chosen automatically
The Constraints of Unitary on Scattering Dispersion Relations
A new dispersion relation for the partial wave scattering matrix
is set up. Using the dispersion relation we generalize the single channel
unitarity condition, , to the entire complex plane, which is
equivalent to the generalized unitarity condition in quantum mechanics. The
pole positions of the resonance and the resonance are
estimated based on the theoretical relations we obtained. The central value of
the pole position is MeV, MeV, obtained after including the the constraint of the Adler zero
condition.Comment: 10 pages with 4 figures, revised version to appear in Phys. Lett.
Performance analysis of the generalised projection identification for time-varying systems
© The Institution of Engineering and Technology 2016. The least mean square methods include two typical parameter estimation algorithms, which are the projection algorithm and the stochastic gradient algorithm, the former is sensitive to noise and the latter is not capable of tracking the timevarying parameters. On the basis of these two typical algorithms, this study presents a generalised projection identification algorithm (or a finite data window stochastic gradient identification algorithm) for time-varying systems and studies its convergence by using the stochastic process theory. The analysis indicates that the generalised projection algorithm can track the time-varying parameters and requires less computational effort compared with the forgetting factor recursive least squares algorithm. The way of choosing the data window length is stated so that the minimum parameter estimation error upper bound can be obtained. The numerical examples are provided

decays of the excited states using the model. After
comparing the theoretical decay widths and decay patterns with the available
experimental data, we tend to conclude: (1) is probably the

Hydrogen implanted 1.3 {micro}m vertical cavity surface-emitting lasers with dielectric and wafer-boned GaAs/AlAs mirrors
A 1.3 {micro}m wavelength vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL) containing proton implanted isolation regions and a dielectric top mirror and a wafer-bonded GaAs/AlAs bottom mirror was fabricated. A room temperature pulsed threshold current density of 1.13 kA/cm{sup 2} and a threshold current of 2 mA have been demonstrated
Measurements of the observed cross sections for exclusive light hadrons containing at , 3.650 and 3.6648 GeV
By analyzing the data sets of 17.3, 6.5 and 1.0 pb taken,
respectively, at , 3.650 and 3.6648 GeV with the BES-II
detector at the BEPC collider, we measure the observed cross sections for

cross sections and the branching fractions for decay into these
final states at 90% C.L..Comment: 7 pages, 2 figure

A study of charged kappa in
Based on events collected by BESII, the decay

the decay is observed for the first time.
Its branching ratio is .Comment: 14 pages, 4 figure
