Universally Kuratowski-Ulam spaces and open-open games

We examine the class of spaces in which the second player has a winning strategy in the open--open game. We show that this spaces are not universally Kuratowski-Ulam. We also show that the games G and G7 introduced by P. Daniels, K. Kunen, H. Zhou [Fund. Math. 145 (1994), no. 3, 205--220] are not equivalent

A Rehabilitation of Stochastic Discount Factor Methodology

In a recent Journal of Finance article, Kan and Zhou (1999) find that the 'Stochastic discount factor' methodology using GMM is markedly inferior to traditional maximum likelihood even in a simple test of the static CAPM with i.i.d. normal returns. This result has gained wide attention. However, as Jagannathan and Wang (2001) point out, this result flows from a strange assumption: Kan and Zhou allow the ML estimate to know the mean market return ex-ante. I show how this information advantage explains Kan and Zhou's results. In fact, when treated symmetrically, the discount factor - GMM and traditional methodologies behave almost identically in linear i.i.d. environments.

The Case of Chu

Die östliche Zhou- (770–221 v. Chr.) und die Han-Dynastie (206 v. Chr.–220 n. Chr.) waren Perioden sozialer, kultureller und politischer Umwälzungen in China. In dieser Übergangszeit hat sich China von einem durch rivalisierende Staaten beherrschten zu einem unter einem einzigen Herrscher vereinten Land gewandelt. Archäologische Funde aus dem 7. und 6. Jh. v. Chr. legen nahe, dass sich die rivalisierenden Staaten größtenteils der musikalischen Tradition des Zhou-Staats angepasst haben. Die Fülle an Glocken und Klangsteinspielen, die bisher mit Zhou-staatlichen Zeremonien und Ahnenritualen verbunden werden, zeugen von diesem Einfluss. Jedoch implizieren materielle Belege aus dem 5. und 4. Jh. v. Chr. einen weitgreifenden Wandel auf der kulturellen und musikalischen Ebene, vor allem im zunehmend an Macht gewinnenden Chu-Staat. Trotz des politischen Niedergangs der Chu im 3. Jh. v. Chr. hielten sich die musikalischen und kulturellen Einflüsse bis in die Han-Dynastie

The Degree of Using Cloud Computing Applications in the E-learning Environment and its Obstacles for Secondary School Students in the Capital Amman Governorate from the Point View of their Teachers

The study aimed to reveal the degree of use of cloud computing applications in the e-learning environment and the obstacles facing secondary school students in the Capital Governorate of Amman from the point of view of their teachers. The study adopted the descriptive survey method, and to collect data, a questionnaire was developed in the form of a scale consisting of (30) items, consisting of two parts, the first to measure the degree of use of cloud computing applications in the e-learning environment for secondary school students in the Amman governorate, and the second to measure the obstacles of cloud computing applications In the e-learning environment, its validity and reliability were confirmed, It was applied to an available sample consisting of (294) male and female teachers who were chosen by the simple random method. The results of the study showed that the degree of using cloud computing applications in the e-learning environment for secondary school students in the capital Amman governorate from the point of view of their teachers was medium, and the results of the study indicated that the degree of obstacles facing secondary school students in the capital governorate came to a high degree from the point of view of their teachers. In addition to the absence of a statistically significant difference in the degree of using cloud computing applications in the e-learning environment for secondary school students in the capital, Amman, from the point of view of their teachers, due to the variables of specialization, years of service, and the interaction between them
