    Comparison of Job Satisfaction Prediction Models for Construction Workers: CART vs. Neural Network

    To establish a suitable prediction model of construction workers\u27 job satisfaction, this study chooses the widely used models CART (Classification and Regression Tree) and NN (Neural network) in the prediction model to make a comparison and finds out the main influencing factors of construction workers\u27 job satisfaction in occupational health and safety training. Through the investigation and analysis of 280 cases of empirical data, it is found that the CART model based on Kappa value and Accuracy of categorical variables have a better prediction effect, and the main factors affecting job satisfaction are job categories, working days per week and the latest training time. The main innovation of this paper is to add the actual value set of empirical data on the basis of the usual training set, verification set, test set and prediction set, and draw a conclusion by comparing the predicted value with the actual value of kappa

    Analyzing the n→π* Electronic Transition of Formaldehyde in Water. \ud A Sequential Monte Carlo/Time-Dependent Density Functional Theory

    The n→π* absorption transition of formaldehyde in water is analyzed using combined and sequential classical Monte Carlo (MC) simulations and quantum mechanics (QM) calculations. MC simulations generate the liquid solute-solvent structures for subsequent QM calculations. Using time-dependent density functional theory in a localized set of gaussian basis functions (TD-DFT/6-311++G(d,p)) calculations are made on statistically relevant configurations to obtain the average solvatochromic shift. All results presented here use the electrostatic embedding of the solvent. The statistically converged average result obtained of 2300 cm-1 is compared to previous theoretical results available. Analysis is made of the effective dipole moment of the hydrogen-bonded shell and how it could be held responsible for the polarization of the solvent molecules in the outer solvation shells.A transição eletrônica n→π* do formaldeído em água é analisada usando-se um procedimento combinado e seqüencial de Monte Carlo (MC) clássico e mecânica quântica (MQ). MC é usado para gerar configurações do líquido para uso posterior em cálculos de MQ. Usando-se a representação espectral da teoria do funcional da densidade com uma base de funções gaussianas localizadas (TD-DFT/6-311++G(d,p)) cálculos são realizados em configurações estatisticamente descorrelacionadas para se obter o deslocamento solvatocrômico. Todos os resultados são obtidos usando-se uma representação onde o solvente é tratado como um campo eletrostático. O resultado médio obtido de 2300 cm-1 é comparado com resultados teóricos anteriores. Análise é feita do valor do momento de dipolo efetivo da camada associada com as ligações de hidrogênio e como ela pode influenciar as camadas de solvatação mais externas

    Microstructural evolution of the coexistence for spinodal decomposition and ordering in Fe-23Al alloy during aging

    The microstructural evolution of the coexistence ofspinodal decomposition and ordering ischaracterized by metallographic microscopy andtransmission electron microscopy in aged Fe-23Al(i.e. Fe-23at%Al) alloy. This paper discusses aphase transition mechanism of the microstructureevolution. The obtained results indicate that the asquenchedFe-23Al alloys with equiaxed grain sizeof about 500μm comprise two kinds of the orderedphase in nano-scale, i.e., B2-FeAl and DO3-Fe 3Alphases. The average size of B2-FeAl orderingphases is about 15nm, while the size of DO3-Fe 3Alordering phases is extreme fine in the as- quenchedFe-23Al alloys. The as-quenched Fe-23Al alloypresents characteristics of the coexistence ofspinodal decomposition and ordering during thesubsequent age ing at 565°C and 520°C. Thedomain size of B2-FeAl ordered phase rapidlyincreases while the one of DO3-Fe 3Al orderedphase slowly develops with the increase in agingtime/with increased ageing time. A conclusion isreached that the coarsening process of both B2-FeAl and DO3-Fe 3Al ordered phase is controlledby the spinodal decomposition mechanism

    The influence of survivin shRNA on the cell cycle and the invasion of SW480 cells of colorectal carcinoma

    <p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>The objective was to understand the influence of Survivin plasmid with short hairpin RNA (shRNA) on the cell cycle, invasion, and the silencing effect of Survivin gene in the SW480 cell of colorectal carcinoma.</p> <p>Methods</p> <p>A eukaryotic expression vector, PGCH1/Survivin shRNA, a segment sequence of Survivin as target, was created and transfected into colorectal carcinoma cell line SW480 by the non-lipid method. The influence on the Survivin protein was analyzed by Western blotting, while the cell cycle, cell apoptosis were analyzed by flow cytometry, and invasion of the cell was analyzed by Transwell's chamber method.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>After the transfection of PGCH1/Survivin shRNA, the expression of Survivin protein in SW480 cells was dramatically decreased by 60.68%, in which the cells were stopped at G2/M phase, even though no apoptosis was detected. The number of transmembranous cells of the experimental group, negative control group, and blank control group were 14.46 ± 2.11, 25.12 ± 8.37, and 25.86 ± 7.45, respectively (P <<it>0.05</it>).</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>Survivin shRNA could significantly reduce the expression of Survivin protein and invasion of SW480 cells. Changes in cell cycle were observed, but no apoptosis was induced.</p

    Impact of Instance Seeking Strategies on Resource Allocation in Cloud Data Centers

    With the prosperity of cloud computing, an increasing number of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) move their business to public clouds such as Amazon EC2. To help tenants deploy services in the cloud, researchers either conduct performance evaluations or design mechanisms and software on seeking virtual machines of better performance. However, few studies have investigated the impact of instance seeking strategies on resource allocation in clouds if every tenant starts to apply the same method to find the better-performing virtual machine. In this paper, we propose a cloud and a tenant model in order to simulate the process of tenants' seeking better-performing instances in the cloud. We discuss, implement and evaluate six cloud resource allocation strategies and five instance seeking strategies. We perform the evaluation via simulation based on real data traces. Our results show that instance seeking strategies can cause the exhaustion of better-performing instances and significant request growth in the cloud. Furthermore, we find that tenants could save time and budget through collaborative seeking strategies. Finally, we discuss the implications of our findings from perspectives of both tenants and providers

    Incorporating graphene oxide into biomimetic nano-microfibrous cellulose scaffolds for enhanced breast cancer cell behavior

However, much less is known on its effect on cancer cells. Herein, GO nanosheets were incorporated into electrospun cellulose acetate (CA) microfibers. The GO-incorporated CA (GO/CA) microfibers were combined with bacterial cellulose (BC) nanofibers via in situ biosynthesis to obtain the nano-microfibrous scaffolds. The GO/CA-BC scaffolds were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), Raman spectroscopy, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The GO/CA-BC scaffolds were used for breast cancer cell culture to evaluate the effect of GO on cancer cell behavior. Fluorescence images revealed large multicellular clusters on the surface of GO/CA-BC scaffolds. Compared to the bare CA-BC scaffold, the GO/CA-BC scaffolds not only showed enhanced mechanical properties but also improved cell proliferation.     Hormonal regulation of ovarian bursa fluid in mice and involvement of aquaporins.

    In rodent species, the ovary and the end of oviduct are encapsulated by a thin membrane called ovarian bursa. The biological functions of ovarian bursa remain unexplored despite its structural arrangement in facilitating oocytes transport into oviduct. In the present study, we observed a rapid fluid accumulation and reabsorption within the ovarian bursa after ovarian stimulation (PMSG-primed hCG injection), suggesting that the ovarian bursa might play an active role in regulating local fluid homeostasis around the timing of ovulation. We hypothesized that the aquaporin proteins, which are specialized channels for water transport, might be involved in this process. By screening the expression of aquaporin family members (Aqp1-9) in the ovarian tissue and isolated ovarian bursa (0, 1, 2 and 5 h after hCG injection), we found that AQP2 and AQP5 mRNA showed dynamic changes after hCG treatment, showing upregulation at 1-2 h followed by gradually decrease at 5 h, which is closely related with the intra-bursa fluid dynamics. Further immunofluorescence examinations of AQP2 and AQP5 in the ovarian bursa revealed that AQP2 is specifically localized in the outer layer (peritoneal side) while AQP5 localized in the inner layer (ovarian side) of the bursa, such cell type specific and spatial-temporal expressions of AQP2 and 5 support our hypothesis that they might be involved in efficient water transport through ovarian bursa under ovulation related hormonal regulation. The physiological significance of aquaporin-mediated water transport in the context of ovarian bursa still awaits further clarification
