Charmless decays and new physics effects in the mSUGRA model
By employing the QCD factorization approach, we calculate the new physics
contributions to the branching radios of the two-body charmless and
decays in the framework of the minimal supergravity (mSUGRA) model.
we choose three typical sets of the mSUGRA input parameters in which the Wilson
coefficient can be either SM-like (the case A and C) or has
a flipped-sign (the case B). We found numerically that (a) the SUSY
contributions are always very small for both case A and C; (b) for those
tree-dominated decays, the SUSY contributions in case B are also very small;
(c) for those QCD penguin-dominated decay modes, the SUSY contributions in case
B can be significant, and can provide an enhancement about to
the branching ratios of and decays, but a
reduction about to decays; and (d) the
large SUSY contributions in the case B may be masked by the large theoretical
errors dominated by the uncertainty from our ignorance of calculating the
annihilation contributions in the QCD factorization approach.Comment: 34 pages, 8 PS figures, this is the correct version
Charmless decays and the new physics effects in the minimal supergravity model
By employing the QCD factorization approach, we calculate the new physics
contributions to the branching radios of the two-body charmless
decays in the framework of the minimal supergravity (mSUGRA) model. Within the
considered parameter space, we find that (a) the supersymmetric (SUSY)
corrections to the Wilson coefficients () are very small and can
be neglected safely, but the leading order SUSY contributions to
and can be rather large and even change the
sign of the corresponding coefficients in the standard model; (b) the possible
SUSY contributions to those penguin-dominated decays in mSUGRA model can be as
large as ; (c) for the well measured decays, the
significant SUSY contributions play an important rule to improve the
consistency of the theoretical predictions with the data; (d) for decays, the theoretical predictions of the corresponding branching
ratios become consistent with the data within one standard deviation after the
inclusion of the large SUSY contributions in the mSUGRA model.Comment: 31 pages, Latex file, 4 ps and eps figures, minor corrections, final

CP violation in the inclusive b -> s g decay in the framework of multi Higgs doublet models
We study the decay width and CP asymmetry of the inclusive process b--> s g
(g denotes gluon) in the multi Higgs doublet models with complex Yukawa
couplings, including next to leading QCD corrections. We analyse the
dependencies of the decay width and CP asymmetry on the scale \mu and CP
violating parameter \theta. We observe that there exist an enhancement in the
decay width and CP asymmetry is at the order of 10^{-2}.Comment: 11 pages, 8 Figure
Branching ratio and CP asymmetry of decays in the perturbative QCD approach
In this paper, we calculate the decay rate and CP asymmetry of the decay in perturbative QCD approach with Sudakov resummation. Since
none of the quarks in final states is the same as those of the initial
meson, this decay can occur only via annihilation diagrams in the standard
model. Besides the current-current operators, the contributions from the QCD
and electroweak penguin operators are also taken into account. We find that (a)
the branching ratio is about ; (b) the penguin diagrams
dominate the total contribution; and (c) the direct CP asymmetry is small in
size: no more than ; but the mixing-induced CP asymmetry can be as large
as ten percent testable in the near future LHC-b experiments.Comment: 12 pages, 4 figures included, RevTe
Stabilizing short-lived Schiff base derivatives of 5-aminouracils that activate mucosal-associated invariant T cells
Mucosal-associated invariant T (MAIT) cells are activated by unstable antigens formed by reactions of 5-amino-6-D-ribitylaminouracil (a vitamin B2 biosynthetic intermediate) with glycolysis metabolites such as methylglyoxal. Here we show superior preparations of antigens in dimethylsulfoxide, avoiding their rapid decomposition in water (t1/2 1.5 h, 37 °C). Antigen solution structures, MAIT cell activation potencies (EC50 3–500 pM), and chemical stabilities are described. Computer analyses of antigen structures reveal stereochemical and energetic influences on MAIT cell activation, enabling design of a water stable synthetic antigen (EC50 2 nM). Like native antigens, this antigen preparation induces MR1 refolding and upregulates surface expression of human MR1, forms MR1 tetramers that detect MAIT cells in human PBMCs, and stimulates cytokine expression (IFNγ, TNF) by human MAIT cells. These antigens also induce MAIT cell accumulation in mouse lungs after administration with a co-stimulant. These chemical and immunological findings provide new insights into antigen properties and MAIT cell activation
2D Titanium Carbide (MXene) Based Films: Expanding the Frontier of Functional Film Materials
2D titanium carbide (Ti3C2Tx) MXene films, with their well-defined microstructures and chemical functionality, provide a macroscale use of nano-sized Ti3C2Tx flakes. Ti3C2Tx films have attractive physicochemical properties favorable for device design, such as high electrical conductivity (up to 20 000 S cm–1), impressive volumetric capacitance (1500 F cm–3), strong in-plane mechanical strength (up to 570 MPa), and a high degree of flexibility. Here, the appealing features of Ti3C2Tx-based films enabled by the layer-to-layer arrangement of nanosheets are reviewed. We devote attention to the key strategies for actualizing desirable characteristics in Ti3C2Tx-based functional films, such as high and tunable electrical conductivity, outstanding mechanical properties, enhanced oxidation-resistance and shelf life, hydrophilicity/hydrophobicity, adjustable porosity, and convenient processability. This review further discusses fundamental aspects and advances in the applications of Ti3C2Tx-based films with a focus on illuminating the relationship between the structural features and the resulting performances for target applications. Finally, the challenges and opportunities in terms of future research, development, and applications of Ti3C2Tx-based films are suggested. A comprehensive understanding of these competitive features and challenges shall provide guidelines and inspiration for the further development of Ti3C2Tx-based functional films, and contribute to the advances in MXene technology
Identification of phenotypically and functionally heterogeneous mouse mucosal-associated invariant T cells using MR1 tetramers
Studies on the biology of mucosal-associated invariant T cells (MAIT cells) in mice have been hampered by a lack of specific reagents. Using MR1-antigen (Ag) tetramers that specifically bind to the MR1-restricted MAIT T cell receptors (TCRs), we demonstrate that MAIT cells are detectable in a broad range of tissues in C57BL/6 and BALB/c mice. These cells include CD4(-)CD8(-), CD4(-)CD8(+), and CD4(+)CD8(-) subsets, and their frequency varies in a tissue- and strain-specific manner. Mouse MAIT cells have a CD44(hi)CD62L(lo) memory phenotype and produce high levels of IL-17A, whereas other cytokines, including IFN-gamma, IL-4, IL-10, IL-13, and GM-CSF, are produced at low to moderate levels. Consistent with high IL-17A production, most MAIT cells express high levels of retinoic acid-related orphan receptor gamma t (ROR gamma t), whereas ROR gamma t(lo) MAIT cells predominantly express T-bet and produce IFN-gamma. Most MAIT cells express the promyelocytic leukemia zinc finger (PLZF) transcription factor, and their development is largely PLZF dependent. These observations contrast with previous reports that MAIT cells from V alpha 19 TCR transgenic mice are PLZF(-) and express a naive CD44(lo) phenotype. Accordingly, MAIT cells from normal mice more closely resemble human MAIT cells than previously appreciated, and this provides the foundation for further investigations of these cells in health and disease
Charmless hadronic decays and new physics effects in the general two-Higgs doublet models
Based on the low-energy effective Hamiltonian with the generalized
factorization, we calculate the new physics contributions to the branching
ratios of the two-body charmless hadronic decays of and mesons
induced by the new gluonic and electroweak charged-Higgs penguin diagrams in
the general two-Higgs doublet models (models I, II and III). Within the
considered parameter space, we find that: (a) the new physics effects from new
gluonic penguin diagrams strongly dominate over those from the new -
and - penguin diagrams; (b) in models I and II, new physics contributions
to most studied B meson decay channels are rather small in size: from -15% to
20%; (c) in model III, however, the new physics enhancements to the
penguin-dominated decay modes can be significant, , and
therefore are measurable in forthcoming high precision B experiments; (d) the
new physics enhancements to ratios {\cal B}(B \to K \etap) are significant in
model III, , and hence provide a simple and plausible new
physics interpretation for the observed unexpectedly large B \to K \etap
decay rates; (e) the theoretical predictions for and
in model III are still consistent with the data
within errors; (f) the significant new physics enhancements to the
branching ratios of and decays are helpful to improve the
agreement between the data and the theoretical predictions; (g) the theoretical
predictions of in the 2HDM's are generally
consistent with experimental measurements and upper limits ()Comment: 55 pages, Latex file, 17 PS and EPS figures. With minor corrections,
