STEADY-STATE ANALYSIS OF THE GI/M/1 QUEUE WITH MULTIPLE VACATIONS AND SET-UP TIME
In this paper, we consider a GI/M/1 queueing model with multiple vacations and set-up time. We derive the distribution and the generating function and the stochastic decomposition of the steady-state queue length, meanwhile, we get the waiting time distributions. Key words: multiple vacations, set-up time, stochastic decompositio
Effects of losses in the hybrid atom-light interferometer
Enhanced Raman scattering can be obtained by injecting a seeded light field
which is correlated with the initially prepared collective atomic excitation.
This Raman amplification process can be used to realize atom-light hybrid
interferometer. We numerically calculate the phase sensitivities and the
signal-to-noise ratios of this interferometer with the method of homodyne
detection and intensity detection, and give their differences between this two
methods. In the presence of loss of light field and atomic decoherence the
measure precision will be reduced which can be explained by the break of the
intermode decorrelation conditions of output modesComment: 9 pages, 7 figure
Epimedium brevicornu Maxim extract shows protective activity against Alzheimer's disease in mice
Purpose: To investigate the protective effect of Epimedium brevicornu Maxim extract (EBME) against Alzheimer's disease in 3xTg-AD mice.
Methods: The cognitive function of 3xTg-AD mice was assessed using Morris water maze test. The levels of amyloid beta deposits and NeuN in the mouse hippocampus were evaluated by immunohistochemistry. Brain neurotrophic-derived factor (BDNF) and tyrosine kinase B (TrkB) expressions were examined by western blot analysis.
Results: EBME treatment significantly ameliorated learning and memory deficits in AD mice, as shown by the increased time spent in the target zone during probe tests. Compared with the 3xTg-AD mice (8.4 ± 1.1 s), the escape latency in animals treated with 600 mg/kg EBME (21.5 ± 1.1 s) was significantly increased (p < 0.01). In addition, EBME significantly decreased Aβ deposits, increased NeuN-positive cells, and upregulated the expressions of BDNF (1.5 ± 0.2, p < 0.05) and TrkB (1.6 ± 0.2, p < 0.05) in the 3xTg AD mice.
Conclusion: EBME treatment may be a useful therapeutic strategy for managing memory impairment
(E)-Methyl 2-chloro-4-dicyclohexylamino-4-oxobut-2-enoate
In the title compound, C17H26ClNO3, both cyclohexyl rings have chair conformations. In the crystal, molecules are linked by weak intermolecular C—H⋯O hydrogen bonds
A novel decentralized economic operation in islanded AC microgrids
Droop schemes are usually applied to the control of distributed generators (DGs) in microgrids (MGs) to realize proportional power sharing. The objective might, however, not suit MGs well for economic reasons. Addressing that issue, this paper proposes an alternative droop scheme for reducing the total active generation costs (TAGC). Optimal economic operation, DGs’ capacity limitations and system stability are fully considered basing on DGs’ generation costs. The proposed scheme utilizes the frequency as a carrier to realize the decentralized economic operation of MGs without communication links. Moreover, a fitting method is applied to balance DGs’ synchronous operation and economy. The effectiveness and performance of the proposed scheme are verified through simulations and experiments
N-(3,4-Diethoxyphenyl)acetamide
In the title compound, C12H17NO3, the conformations of the N—H and C=O bonds are anti to each other. In the crystal structure, N—H⋯O hydrogen-bond interactions help to establish the packing
Diphenylmethyl isothiocyanate
The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C14H11NS, contains two molecules in which the dihedral angles between the phenyl rings are 77.23 (7) and 86.30 (7)°. No aromatic π–π stacking interactions are observed
