Evidence for Co-rotation Origin of Super Metal Rich Stars in LAMOST-Gaia: Multiple Ridges with a Similar Slope in phi versus Lz Plane

Super metal-rich (SMR) stars in the solar neighborhood are thought to be born in the inner disk and came to present location by radial migration, which is most intense at the co-rotation resonance (CR) of the Galactic bar. In this work, we show evidence for the CR origin of SMR stars in LAMOST-Gaia by detecting six ridges and undulations in the phi versus Lz space coded by median VR, following a similar slope of -8 km/s kpc/deg. The slope is predicted by Monario et al.'s model for CR of a large and slow Galactic bar. For the first time, we show the variation of angular momentum with azimuths from -10 deg to 20 deg for two outer and broad undulations with negative VR around -18 km/s following this slope. The wave-like pattern with large amplitude outside CR and a wide peak of the second undulations indicate that minor merger of the Sagittarius dwarf galaxy with the disk might play a role besides the significant impact of CR of the Galactic bar.Comment: 5 pages, 3 figures, published in ApJ Lette

OBJECTIVES: To examine the application of bioabsorbable screws for anterior cervical decompression and bone grafting fixation and to study their clinical effects in the treatment of cervical spondylosis. METHODS: From March 2007 to September 2012, 56 patients, 36 males and 20 females (38-79 years old, average 58.3±9.47 years), underwent a novel operation. Grafts were fixed by bioabsorbable screws (PLLA, 2.7 mm in diameter) after anterior decompression. The bioabsorbable screws were inserted from the midline of the graft bone to the bone surface of the upper and lower vertebrae at 45 degree angles. Patients were evaluated post-operatively to observe the improvement of symptoms and evaluate the fusion of the bone. The Japanese Orthopaedic Association (JOA) score was used to evaluate the recovery of neurological functions. RESULTS: All screws were successfully inserted, with no broken screws. The rate of symptom improvement was 87.5%. All of the grafts fused well with no extrusion. The average time for graft fusion was 3.8±0.55 months (range 3-5 months). Three-dimensional reconstruction of CT scans demonstrated that the grafts fused with adjacent vertebrae well and that the screws were absorbed as predicted. The MRI findings showed that the cerebrospinal fluid was unobstructed. No obvious complications appeared in any of the follow-up evaluations. CONCLUSIONS: Cervical spondylosis with one- or two-level involvement can be effectively treated by anterior decompression and bone grafting with bioabsorbable screw fixation. This operative method is safe and can avoid the complications induced by metal implants

Prioritized experience replay-based DDQN for Unmanned Vehicle Path Planning

Path planning module is a key module for autonomous vehicle navigation, which directly affects its operating efficiency and safety. In complex environments with many obstacles, traditional planning algorithms often cannot meet the needs of intelligence, which may lead to problems such as dead zones in unmanned vehicles. This paper proposes a path planning algorithm based on DDQN and combines it with the prioritized experience replay method to solve the problem that traditional path planning algorithms often fall into dead zones. A series of simulation experiment results prove that the path planning algorithm based on DDQN is significantly better than other methods in terms of speed and accuracy, especially the ability to break through dead zones in extreme environments. Research shows that the path planning algorithm based on DDQN performs well in terms of path quality and safety. These research results provide an important reference for the research on automatic navigation of autonomous vehicles.Comment: 4 pages, 6 figures, 2024 5th International Conference on Information Science, Parallel and Distributed System

Worcester Chamber of Commerce: Recruiting Minority Business Owners

    Get PDF
Our capstone project was to help the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce identify how to re-frame their marketing so it would be appealing to immigrant and minority owned businesses. Based on interviews and external research, our group was able to create a tangible and resourceful data set that provided justified recommendations and ideas on how the Chamber could make adjustments to their marketing plan to attract more businesses of this particular demographic in the city of Worcester. By implementing these recommendations, we believe the Chamber has the opportunity to create a more diverse group of Chamber members, add value to a previously underserved community, and support minority and immigrant owned small businesses through Worcester’s growth in the coming years

Automatic News Generation and Fact-Checking System Based on Language Processing

This paper explores an automatic news generation and fact-checking system based on language processing, aimed at enhancing the efficiency and quality of news production while ensuring the authenticity and reliability of the news content. With the rapid development of Natural Language Processing (NLP) and deep learning technologies, automatic news generation systems are capable of extracting key information from massive data and generating well-structured, fluent news articles. Meanwhile, by integrating fact-checking technology, the system can effectively prevent the spread of false news and improve the accuracy and credibility of news. This study details the key technologies involved in automatic news generation and factchecking, including text generation, information extraction, and the application of knowledge graphs, and validates the effectiveness of these technologies through experiments. Additionally, the paper discusses the future development directions of automatic news generation and fact-checking systems, emphasizing the importance of further integration and innovation of technologies. The results show that with continuous technological optimization and practical application, these systems will play an increasingly important role in the future news industry, providing more efficient and reliable news services

Contamination and mobile colistin resistance gene analysis for Salmonella isolated from retail chickens in Ji'nan

ObjectiveTo investigate the contamination of Salmonella in retail chickens in Ji’nan city from 2020 to 2021, and to explore the prevalence of the mobile colistin resistance gene (mcr) among these Salmonella isolates.MethodsFrom December 2020 to November 2021, 260 retail chicken samples were collected in Ji’nan City, and Salmonella was isolated and confirmed according to GB 4789.4—2016 “National food standard - Food microbiological examination: Salmonella”. Serotype identification and mcr gene screening were performed for all Salmonella isolates by polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The drug resistance of mcr gene-positive strains was tested by micro-broth dilution method.ResultsA total of 61 in 260 retail chicken samples were positive for Salmonella detection with the contamination rate of 23.46% (61/260). The highest contamination rate was 53.33% (32/60) for samples collected in autumn. One hundred and three Salmonella strains were isolated, 56 of which were Salmonella Enteritidis, accounting for 54.37% (56/103). Two Salmonella Indiana, isolated from two separate chicken wing samples collected from different regions, were positive for mcr-1 gene, with a positive rate of 1.94% (2/103). Antimicrobial susceptibility testing revealed that both of the two mcr-1-harboring Salmonella Indiana were multi-drug resistant, and one of them was concurrently resistant to all 12 categories of tested drugs, including carbapenems and polymyxins.ConclusionThere was a certain degree of Salmonella contamination in retail chickens in Jinan from 2020 to 2021, and the contamination rate of the samples collected in autumn was higher than in any other seasons. Salmonella Enteritidis was the predominant serotype. It should be of concern that a Salmonella isolate carried mcr-1 gene with severe multidrug resistance to both colistin and carbapenems, indicating that the surveillance for Salmonella in the whole chain of chicken production should be strengthened continuously, to provide important basic data for the prevention and control of foodborne diseases
