Terminal-instar larval systematics and biology of west European species of Ormyridae associated with insect galls (Hymenoptera, Chalcidoidea)

A systematic study of the genus Ormyrus (Chalcidoidea, Ormyridae) was conducted based on the morphology and biology of the terminal-instar larvae of ten west European species that are parasitoids of gall wasps and gallflies of the families Cynipidae, Eurytomidae and Tephritidae. The first detailed descriptions are provided of the terminal-instar larvae of these ten species using SEM images to illustrate diagnostic characters with systematic values. A key is provided for the identification of ormyrid larvae associated with galls in Europe, which is based particularly on characters of the head, mouthparts and mandibles. Although only limited informative variation in body shape was found, the setation of the head provided several characters of potential taxonomic value. The larval biology of the ten ormyrid species inhabiting different galls is also summarised. Although Ormyrus larvae are usually solitary idiobiont ectoparasitoids of the host larva of various gall-inhabiting insects, evidence of secondary phytophagy was observed in some species. The Spanish Ministry of Education and Science research projects CGL2010-15786/BOS and MINECO/FEDER, UE) CGL2015-66571-P to JLNA provided financial support for this paper.Peer Reviewe

Two new species: Eurytoma kuslitzkyi Zerova, sp. n. from Israel and Eurytoma cornuta Zerova, sp. n. from Ukraine are described. The first species belongs to the robusta species group, and differs from other species of this group by the structure of the mesosternal shelf with two projections. The second species belongs to the compessa species group and differs from all other species of this group by the sharp corn on mesopleura.Описаны Eurytoma kuslitzkyi Zerova, sp. n.

A key to all Palearctic species of the genus Ormyrus Westwood is provided. Ormyrus ermolenkoi Zerova, sp. n. from Kuril Islands (Kunashir) and O. ibaraki Zerova, sp. n. from Japan (Honshu Island) are described; both species belong to the orientalis species group. The following synonymy is established: Ormyrus tschami Doganlar, 1991 = O. gratiosus hermonicus Zerova, 2003, syn. n. Описаны Ormyrus ermolenkoi Zerova, sp. n. п. Ormyrus tschami Doganlar, 1991 = O. gratiosus hermonicus Zerova, 2003, syn. n

Systole tokata Zerova et Gs am, sp. n. Systole plana Zerova et Gs am, sp. n. Description of two new Systole species is given, as well as description of S. brun-nicornis Zerova et Gs am, described only from female. The both described species belong to subgenus Systole (Systole). Systole tokata Zerova et Gs am, sp. n. (type locality: Turkey, Tokat) differs from all known species of this subgenus by longer petiolus in female and squar 2–5 flagellar segments. Systole plana Zerova et Gs am, sp. n. (type locality: Turkey, Tokat) is near to S. singularis Zerova but differs by flat abdomen and longer and stout first flagellar segment

The genus name Nikanoria is resurrected from synonymy and considered to be separate from Bruchophagus based on analysis of morphological characters and trophic associations. Nikanoria pygmaea Zerova, sp. n. and N. deserta Zerova, sp. n. are described. и N. deserta Zerova, sp. n

Efficiency of true-green light emitting diodes:Non-uniformity and temperature effects

    Get PDF
External quantum efficiency of industrial-grade green InGaN light-emitting diodes (LEDs) has been measured in a wide range of operating currents at various temperatures from 13 K to 300 K. Unlike blue LEDs, the efficiency as a function of current is found to have a multi-peak character, which could not be fitted by a simple ABC-model. This observation correlated with splitting of LED emission spectra into two peaks at certain currents. The characterization data are interpreted in terms of non-uniformity of the LED active region, which is tentatively attributed to extended defects like V-pits. We suggest a new approach to evaluation of temperature-dependent light extraction and internal quantum efficiencies taking into account the active region non-uniformity. As a result, the temperature dependence of light extraction and internal quantum efficiencies have been evaluated in the temperature range mentioned above and compared with those of blue LEDs
