Four-Dimensional Yang-Mills Theory as a Deformation of Topological BF Theory
The classical action for pure Yang--Mills gauge theory can be formulated as a
deformation of the topological theory where, beside the two-form field
, one has to add one extra-field given by a one-form which transforms
as the difference of two connections. The ensuing action functional gives a
theory that is both classically and quantistically equivalent to the original
Yang--Mills theory. In order to prove such an equivalence, it is shown that the
dependency on the field can be gauged away completely. This gives rise
to a field theory that, for this reason, can be considered as semi-topological
or topological in some but not all the fields of the theory. The symmetry group
involved in this theory is an affine extension of the tangent gauge group
acting on the tangent bundle of the space of connections. A mathematical
analysis of this group action and of the relevant BRST complex is discussed in
details.Comment: 74 pages, LaTeX, minor corrections; to be published in Commun. Math.

Palladium catalyzed Suzuki cross-coupling of 3-iodo-2-(methylthio)-benzo[b]furan derivatives: synthesis of 3-aryl-2-(methylthio)benzo[b]furans
A selective and efficient method for the synthesis of 3-aryl-2-(methylthio)benzo[b]furans derivatives by palladium catalyzed cross-coupling reaction with boronic acids has been developed. The reaction proceeded cleanly under mild conditions and was performed with aryl boronic acids bearing electron-withdrawing, electron donating and neutral substituents

Calcium Intake is Associated to Changes in the Interplay between Bone, Pancreas and Fat Tissue in the Control of Glucose Homeostasis- Experimental Study
Background: Bone remodeling, insulin levels and fat mass interrelationship in glucose homeostasis control was evaluated in Weaning Normal (W) and Obese (O) rats fed High (H), Normal (N) or Low (L) Ca intakes. Methods: Glucose, Cholesterol (Chol), HDL-Chol, Triglyceride (TGL), Ca, P, insulin, Osteocalcin (OCN) and collagen C-telopeptide (CTX), body composition, BMD, BMC, body Ca and P content, perigonadal plus retroperitoneal fat (PG+RP) and liver weight were determined and HOMA-IR calculated. Results: WHCa reached the highest body fat, PG+RP and the highest CTX levels (p?0.05); WNCa had the lowest liver weight. WLCa reached the lowest body protein content (p?0.05) and the highest glucose, insulin and HOMA-IR (p?0.05). WLCa and WHCa had similar Chol levels but higher than WNCa; TGL increased and OCN decreased as dietary Ca content increased (p?0.05). OLCa presented the highest body fat, Chol and OCN levels but the lowest HDLChol levels (p?0.05); ONCa had the highest body protein percentage (p?0.05). OHCa had the lowest CTX levels (p?0.05). PG+RP, liver weight, glucose, insulin and HOMA-IR decreased as dietary Ca content increased (p?0.05). O groups reached higher adipose PG+RP fat, liver weight, glucose, insulin, Chol, TGL and HOMA-IR and lower OCN, CTX and body protein content than their matched-W groups (p?0.05).Conclusion: The relative amount of dietary Ca to P may regulate energy metabolism and bone turnover, insulin and body fat interplay in glucose homeostasis control. However, the mechanisms differ in physiological conditions or in the presence of metabolic abnormalities of energy dysregulation such as obesity and T2-diabetes.Fil: Marotte, Clarisa. Gaussian Bounding Boxes and Probabilistic Intersection-over-Union for Object Detection
Most object detection methods use bounding boxes to encode and represent the
object shape and location. In this work, we explore a fuzzy representation of
object regions using Gaussian distributions, which provides an implicit binary
representation as (potentially rotated) ellipses. We also present a similarity
measure for the Gaussian distributions based on the Hellinger Distance, which
can be viewed as a Probabilistic Intersection-over-Union (ProbIoU). Our
experimental results show that the proposed Gaussian representations are closer
to annotated segmentation masks in publicly available datasets, and that loss
functions based on ProbIoU can be successfully used to regress the parameters
of the Gaussian representation. Furthermore, we present a simple mapping scheme
from traditional (or rotated) bounding boxes to Gaussian representations,
allowing the proposed ProbIoU-based losses to be seamlessly integrated into any
object detector
Quranic Forensic on Begging: Formulating Policies and Action Plans to Handle Street Beggars
Begging behavior is a serious issue and happens on a wide scale, especially in urban areas. In Islamic normative point of view, the Quran has a distinctive perspective towards beggars. In Sura al-MÄâĆ«n [107]: 3, Allah swt. encourages Moslem people to pay attention to poor beggars. In contrast, in other verses, al-JÄthiyah [45]: 7, al-Quran criticizes people who are lying for the sake of otherâs mercy with a mode and guise of a falsehood. In fact, the begging behavior nowadays is not only caused by the economic problem, but beggars even make it as a preferable profession. The biggest problem in handling the beggar issues is the difficulty to differentiate between the genuine and the professional beggar. If we examine thoroughly using an analysis of the Quran verses, there is a distinctive characteristic of those beggars. These at least can be identified through the micro-expression, sound pressure, and eye tracking. The analysis of the humanâs track and physical fact through al-Quran here is what the authors intend as Quran forensic. Based on the distinguishing indicators from the analysis of the Quran forensic, this article found a new model for solving beggar problems with a multidisciplinary approach
Students' sensory modalities and acceptance of using funancial.s.battle (FSB) as learning method in accounting education / Syahida Md Zeni... [et al.]
Accounting educators uses various techniques in making the subject interesting including introducing of accounting games in class. However, previous study shows that studentsâ improvement is varied. Therefore this paper aims to explore students' ability to absorb learning financial statement using board game known as FUNancial.S.Battle (FSB) with their sensory modalities, VAK (visual, auditory, kinesthetic). 64 students enrolled for Financial Accounting 2 (FAR160) subject was chosen to participate in this study, as they have enough basic knowledge about financial statement. They were given set of Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) representational system preference test before playing the FSB game, once finished, another set of questionnaire was given to get their feedback about the game. Results were then analysed using SPSS to find whether there is any relationship between students' VAK and their acceptance of using board game as learning method in understanding the preparation of financial statement. Result shows that students with kinesthetic ability preferred using games better than the others. Since this area of study was rarely found in Malaysia, further study need to be done to confirm the finding. Furthermore sample of students should involve those majoring in accounting and also non-accounting students to see the difference. Further analysis should be done in future research to find out the significant relationship between sensory modalities and FSB game acceptance
