Unravelling the identity of Pandora species (Bivalvia: Pandoridae) from Southern South America

Four species of Pandora have been reported from southern South America: P. cistula Gould, 1850, P. braziliensis G. B. Sowerby II, 1874, P. diffissa Mabille & Rochebrune, 1889 and P. patagonica (Dall, 1915). The group has received little taxonomic attention in this area, resulting in arbitrary and wrong usage of these names, for which several contradictory synonymies have been proposed. This study provides the first revision of Pandora species living in southern South America, including photographs of the type material and descriptions of shells, gross anatomy and living animals. Out of the four species previously mentioned, P. braziliensis is here regarded as valid, including P. patagonica and P. diffissa as synonyms. The fourth species, P. cistula, remains known only from its type specimen. In addition, a new species, P. brevirostris, is described from the shallow waters of Argentina.Fil: Güller, Marina. Bi-Orthogonal Approach to Non-Hermitian Hamiltonians with the Oscillator Spectrum: Generalized Coherent States for Nonlinear Algebras

A set of Hamiltonians that are not self-adjoint but have the spectrum of the harmonic oscillator is studied. The eigenvectors of these operators and those of their Hermitian conjugates form a bi-orthogonal system that provides a mathematical procedure to satisfy the superposition principle. In this form the non-Hermitian oscillators can be studied in much the same way as in the Hermitian approaches. Two different nonlinear algebras generated by properly constructed ladder operators are found and the corresponding generalized coherent states are obtained. The non-Hermitian oscillators can be steered to the conventional one by the appropriate selection of parameters. In such limit, the generators of the nonlinear algebras converge to generalized ladder operators that would represent either intensity-dependent interactions or multi-photon processes if the oscillator is associated with single mode photon fields in nonlinear media.Comment: this abridged version (37 pages, 11 figures) includes simplified formulae and correction of misprint

International Organizations and higher education: Indications and tensions.Tthe case of Argentina (1990-2000)

This paper addresses the main positions and incidents of international financial and cooperative organizations, in relation to higher education in Latin America and particularly in the case of Argentina, during the last two decades. The first part, by way of introduction, sets the changing trends of the university sector in the international context. So that these trends are described under the neoliberalism. The second section, Major incidents of IOs in higher education during the 1990s, describes some of the adaptive answers of higher education systems to the requirements of a global agenda for these organizations induced by the accelerated increase social demand for higher education. And the third section, Tensions between heredity and recent guidance of IOs in higher education: Argentina over the last decade. At one point, you try to submit the dispute between visions garantistas and market in higher education, on the stage of postneoliberalismo, where there have been substantial changes in terms of politics. In this sense one aspect to highlight is the re-politicization of public policy both in the case of Argentina and in other countries in Latin America. A su vez, se puntualizan algunas tendencias en el marco del neoliberalismo. El segundo apartado, Principales incidencias de los OIs en la educación universitaria durante la década de 1990 en Latinoamérica y Argentina, describe algunas de las respuestas adaptativas de los sistemas de educación universitaria a los requerimientos de una agenda mundial inducida por dichos organismos, junto al aumento acelerado de la demanda social de educación universitaria. Reflexión sobre los aportes de la pedagogía en los escenarios escolares contemporáneos : El caso de las subjetividades emergentes

Partiendo de la etapa de transformaciones que estamos atravesando en la sociedad en general y en la educación en particular, encontrándonos frente a un horizonte de cambios que atañen a los lazos sociales, políticos y económicos, que acarreara profundas permutaciones en la vida social de los sujetos y consecuentemente en la producción de subjetividades, que emergen en un escenario concreto, complejo, transformador como es "la escuela", me interrogo: ¿Qué direccionalidades y sentidos se tejen e impactan en el marco social y subjetivo de los seres humanos?. ¿Cómo trata la escuela el tema que denomino subjetividades "emergentes en emergencia"?: que alude, a niños/as que trabajan, que están en situación de calle, o inmigrantes provenientes de otras comunidades, que quedan por fuera de "lo establecido", y en todo caso que es actualmente "lo establecido" que nos interpelan en el campo mismo de nuestra disciplina. Por lo cual considero que, apostar a una reflexión sobre los aportes de la pedagogía en este marco no es una posición ingenua, sino todo lo contrario, se trata de un posicionamiento que contemple una mirada reflexiva, que deje de lado la curiosidad ingenua y de lugar a la curiosidad epistemológica, genuina, a sabiendas de las controversias propias del campo, minado de tensiones y contradicciones en el cual se hace texto un escenario complejo que remite por un lado al objeto, método, prácticas, funciones de la pedagogía, reconociendo alcances y límites de la práctica disciplinar, por el otro lado. Sin perder de vista esa "modestia disciplinar", que se debe poner en juego a la hora de problematizar el escenario escolar, modestia que nos permite seguir interrogándonos, lúdicamente, creativamente en busca de esa sociedad más justa que anhelamos, esa Latinoamérica más igualitaria en términos de derechos sociales. Situando a la disciplina desde una perspectiva liberadora; considerando a la educación más allá del desarrollo y la socialización, habilitando y habitando el espacio para el pensamiento crítico, buscando estrategias educativas para poder vivir cotidianamente con la diferencia, respetando al "otro/a" en su singularidad y apostando a la construcción del diálogo

Nonclassical States for Non-Hermitian Hamiltonians with the Oscillator Spectrum

In this paper, we show that the standard techniques that are utilized to study the classical-like properties of the pure states for Hermitian systems can be adjusted to investigate the classicality of pure states for non-Hermitian systems.
