SNAVA—A real-time multi-FPGA multi-model spiking neural network simulation architecture

This manuscript version is made available under the CC-BY-NC-ND 4.0 license http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/Spiking Neural Networks (SNN) for Versatile Applications (SNAVA) simulation platform is a scalable and programmable parallel architecture that supports real-time, large-scale, multi-model SNN computation. This parallel architecture is implemented in modern Field-Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) devices to provide high performance execution and flexibility to support large-scale SNN models. Flexibility is defined in terms of programmability, which allows easy synapse and neuron implementation. This has been achieved by using a special-purpose Processing Elements (PEs) for computing SNNs, and analyzing and customizing the instruction set according to the processing needs to achieve maximum performance with minimum resources. The parallel architecture is interfaced with customized Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs) to configure the SNN's connectivity, to compile the neuron-synapse model and to monitor SNN's activity. Our contribution intends to provide a tool that allows to prototype SNNs faster than on CPU/GPU architectures but significantly cheaper than fabricating a customized neuromorphic chip. The Research Journey as a Challenge Towards New Trends

The academic community of the department of Risaralda, in its permanent interest in evidencing the results of the research processes that are carried out from the Higher Education Institutions and as a product of the VI meeting of researchers of the department of Risaralda held in November 2021 presents its work: “The journey of research as a challenge towards new trends”, which reflects the result of the latest research and advances in different lines of knowledge in Agricultural Sciences, Health Sciences, Social Sciences and Technology and Information Sciences, which seek to solve and meet the demands of the different sectors. Actitudes hacia las Ciencias Naturales y su influencia en el Interés Científico, en las estudiantes de décimo año de Educación Básica de los Colegios Diez de Agosto y Mejía de la ciudad de Quito. Propuesta alternativa de solución

La presente investigación tuvo por objetivo diagnosticar la actitud que los estudiantes de Décimo Año de los Colegios Diez de Agosto e Instituto Nacional Mejía tienen hacia las Ciencias Naturales, para establecer su relación con respecto al Interés Científico. Para tal efecto, se evaluó e interpretó la actitud desde el ámbito cognitivo, afectivo y conductual para posteriormente interrelacionarlo con el interés científico de los estudiantes de género femenino y masculino. Respecto a la metodología se trabajó bajo el paradigma interpretativo, analizando las variables de actitud e interés científico, apoyado en metodologías cuantitativas y cualitativas. Para ello se desplegaron etapas de: recolección de datos, análisis de resultados, interpretación, elaboración de conclusiones y recomendaciones. El estudio cuantitativo se realizó para el análisis de la actitud en sus dimensiones cognitiva, y afectiva; y para determinar el interés por la investigación científica mediante la aplicación de cuestionarios tipo escala de Likert a una muestra de 297 estudiantes. En el estudio cualitativo aplicado en la evaluación de la actitud en su dimensión conductual, se realizaron observaciones a estudiantes, valorando su bienestar e involucramiento durante el desarrollo de las clases de Ciencias Naturales. La recolección de datos tanto cualitativos como cuantitativos se realizó en dos momentos, en el primero se aplicaron los cuestionarios de análisis de actitud y las observaciones del ámbito conductual, y en un segundo, se evaluó: el contenido, motivación y entorno como variables del interés.
