Intragranular carbon nanotubes in alumina-based composites for reinforced ceramics

The traditional methods for the synthesis of reinforced alumina-based matrix composites with carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have presented serious difficulties for obtaining well-dispersed and homogeneously distributed CNTs within the matrix. Besides this, the CNTs are typically found in the grain boundaries of the matrix. These features involve a non-optimal reinforcement role of the CNTs. With the aim of maximizing the efficiency of the reinforcement of the CNT, this work reconsiders a sol-gel-based procedure for ceramic composite fabrication with a two fold objective: to achieve a good dispersion of the CNTs and to promote the intragranular location of the CNTs. The mixing of precursors and CNTs has been developed under the presence of high-power ultrasounds, followed by a rapid in-situ gelation that “froze” the nanotubes inside the gel. The chemical and physical relationships between the ceramic matrix and the embedded reinforcing phase have been researched. First results confirm the success of the synthesis procedure for the preparation of alumina-based composite powders starting from a commercial boehmite sol and multiwalled carbon nanotubes. X-ray diffraction and Raman analyses confirmed the formation of the α-Al 2 O 3 and the persistence of the non-damaged nanotube structure. N 2 physisorption and electron microscopy were used to check the evolution of the nanostructure and to confirm the presence of intragranular carbon nanotube within the polycrystalline powder. Therefore, the alumina-based composite powder prepared by this new procedure is a good candidate for the preparation of reinforced ceramic matrix composites.Junta de Andalucía P12-FQM-107

Inventarío de recursos gastronómicos con potencial turístico en jipijapa – Manabí

El Inventario Gastronómico con Potencial Turístico es una herramienta que permite identificar los recursos alimenticios con los que cuenta una determinada zona para aportar información fehaciente sobre un atractivo cultural ya existente. El presente estudio se desarrolló en la provincia de Manabí, específicamente en la ciudad de Jipijapa, debido a que esta área es considerada una zona única desde el punto de vista gastronómico y no cuenta con un documento que registre la variada oferta y cultura culinaria debido a que esta información se ha pasado de manera oral de generación a generación. Con la información obtenida se procedió a identificar los productos y platos típicos existentes en la zona además de vislumbrar la condición de los establecimientos de alimentos y bebidas que los expenden, obteniendo la validación de la hipótesis planteada: “Si se elabora un inventario gastronómico de Jipijapa, se podría tener información para contribuir con la diversificación de la oferta turística”

Construir un producto gráfico que permita un mayor interés en las temáticas manejadas por el parque Jaime Duque.Las revistas se han convertido en un elemento muy comercializado en su función de medio de comunicación. Los avances de las tecnologías las han modificado, de modo que pasaron de ser impresas a ser digitales, y sus productos permiten la incorporación de material gráfico, audiovisual y multimedia. Tomado como modelo los ejemplares manejados en el Parque Jaime Duque,son propuestas que cuentan con escasez de movimiento y un diseño tradicional, aun así existe un medio que se puede implementar, para crear nuevos formatos los cuales permiten que una revista digital corriente se convierta a una revista activa, donde su diseño sea dinámico y esto se logra gracias a la comunicación gráfica, ya que al dar un buen manejo y distribución a los elementos internos se tendrá como objetivo principal un mayor interés en las temáticas manejadas. Para lograr una buena interacción se necesita actualizar e innovar las nuevas revistas que serán publicadas, esta propuesta contará con una diagramación y diseño más colorido, siendo partícipe fotografías, ilustraciones y gifs con el fin de hacerla más atractiva acorde a la población, para ello se utilizó Visual Thinking como metodología para generar un producto visual ya que cuenta con un proceso de investigación y de acción para descubrir ideas, desarrollarlas y compartirlas a través de representaciones visuales. Por ello tendrá como resultado una participación gracias a un nuevo recurso gráfico que incorpora contenido básico y conciso acerca de animales nativos que se encuentran en el Bioparque Wakata, esta revista será netamente informativa sin dejar de lado una experiencia por medio de lo visual. De esta manera se espera que la propuesta sea del agrado y funcionamiento del parque para que sea utilizada como un nuevo recurso de comunicación con el público y puedan volver a realizarse publicaciones periódicas como se hacía anteriormente en su página web.Magazines have become a very commercialised element in their role as a medium Communication. Diseño y simulación de una compuerta plana para apertura y cierre automático alimentada con energía solar

Se ha analizado la necesidad de contar con un sistema de distribución de agua para las comunidades que pertenecen a Cayambe – Pedro Moncayo. La implementación de un sistema automático con su respectiva fuente de poder, en una o más compuertas planas, tiene por propósito optimizar su funcionamiento para la distribución del agua a través de canales. Para lograr este objetivo las condiciones de trabajo del sistema mecánico y la frecuencia de uso van a ser evaluados y calculados; esta automatización no puede ser alimentada adecuadamente por el sistema eléctrico debido a la ubicación del canal, en consecuencia, el sistema fotovoltaico ha sido diseñado para proveer energía y controlar la apertura-cierre automático de dichas compuertas. El principal objetivo es ofrecer un sistema alternativo que reemplace la operación manual optimizando recursos en la distribución del agua por el canal de riego. Como resultado, este proyecto fue determinado viable, ya que energía renovable está siendo usada, su diseño alcanza estándares y ofrece resultados para el buen uso del sistema mecánico y fotovoltaico.The need for a distribution water system for communities that belong to Cayambe – Pedro Moncayo has been analyzed. To achieve this objective, the working conditions of the mechanical system and the frequency of use will be assessed and calculated; due to the lack of electric power, it cannot be automated, consequently the photovoltaic system has been designed to provide energy, and control the automatic opening-closing of said gates. The main project-objective is to offer an alternative system that replaces manual operation by optimizing resources in the distribution of water through the irrigation canal. Dificultad de bancarización y aumento en la tasa impositiva de renta en empresas dedicadas al cultivo de especias, plantas aromáticas y medicinales

La bancarización tributaria hace referencia al reconocimiento fiscal de los costos y deducciones de pagos realizados por el contribuyente mediante herramientas financieras que permitan el control y la transparencia de las diferentes tracciones de las compañías. La normatividad ha establecido su implementación desde el año 2018 en adelante, pasando por varios porcentajes de reconocimiento fiscal de manera gradual, su implementación ha llevado a las empresas a la incursión en los diferentes portafolios financieros y ha causado en los contribuyentes nuevos modelos transaccióneles con sus clientes y proveedores. Algunos sectores de la economía se han visto más afectados que otros, el sector agropecuario es uno de los más afectados, dada la informalidad que se maneja en el medio y el acceso restringido a canales financieros en las zonas rurales del país, aunque la mayoría de los adultos colombianos cuentan con un producto financiero algunos no cuentan con esta facilidad y no cuentan con las herramientas tecnológicas necesarias. Con la reactivación económica que viene surgiendo en Colombia se espera que el sector agropecuario contribuya en este crecimiento por esta razón es importante implementar mecanismos que ayuden a los diferentes sectores y evaluar las condiciones tributarias vigentes. Es importante analizar el incremento de la carga impositiva en empresas del sector agropecuario a causa de la bancarización, ver como su implementación afecta las utilidades de las compañías, ya sea por reconocimientos de deducciones fiscales o el encarecimiento de los precios de mercado por temas de formalidad tributaria.Tax banking refers to the fiscal recognition of the costs and deductions of payments made by the taxpayer through financial tools that allow the control and transparency of the different tractions of the companies. With the economic reactivation that has been emerging in Colombia, it is expected that the agricultural sector will contribute to this growth. Tailoring Organic-Organic Poly(vinylpyrrolidone) Microparticles and Fibers with Multiwalled Carbon Nanotubes for Reinforced Composites

Polymeric-based microparticles and fibers are tailorable for a wide range of common industrial and biomedical applications, while multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) are among the most useful macromolecules based on their outstanding electronic, mechanical, and optical properties at the nanoscale. If one combines these nanostructures with various polymeric precursors, their range of potential applications becomes even greater. One of the simplest and most affordable methods for fabricating micro- and nanostructures is electrospinning. Herein we demonstrate how MWCNTs may be used to produce tailor-made organic-organic poly(vinylpyrrolidone) (PVP) microparticles and fibers via electrospinning by studying their structural, vibrational, rheological, and mechanical properties' dependence on their solvent (ethanol (EtOH) or dimethylformamide (DMF)) and resulting morphology. Specifically, we find clear differences in morphologies from perfectly spherical and isolated microparticles to fibers mats, or a combination of fibers with entangled beads, with solvent type and concentration. On the basis of our findings, we propose that the mechanism governing the shape and size of the particles is a competition between the solvent's surface tension, dielectric constant, and viscoelastic properties. We show, based on both our experimental results and density functional theory (DFT) calculations, that OH functionalization of the MWCNTs is essential for achieving high PVP coverages and promoting the stability of the resulting PVP/MWCNT nanocomposite. Finally, by fabricating PVP/MWCNT fiber mats, we demonstrate that low concentrations (0.01-0.1 wt %) of MWCNTs led to a qualitative improvement (â250%) in the resulting mechanical properties, i.e., a reinforced composite. These results show how by controlling the solvent's dielectric constant, surface tension, and polymer concentration, one may produce tailor-made polymeric nanomaterials in combination with other organic/inorganic nanoparticles, i.e., silver, gold, or carbon allotropes, for next-generation applications

La cancelación sucesiva de interferencias (SIC) Cooperativa es un esquema basado en principios de cooperación de red y que aprovecha la capacidad de los receptores avanzados para realizar SIC. La técnica ha venido abriéndose campo en las investigaciones frente a las nuevas generaciones de redes celulares. Se ha mostrado que SIC Cooperativa puede mejorar la capacidad de un canal en ciertas condiciones para un canal de acceso múltiple. East African coastal forest under pressure

The Arabuko Sokoke dryland coastal forest along the East African coastline provides a unique habitat for many endangered endemic animal and plant species. High demographic pressure with subsequent land-splitting, soil depletion in combination with erratic rainfalls and the collapse of the tourism industry are negatively affecting food security and human livelihood quality in this region. Food crops were originally produced by subsistence farming, but have now to be purchased at local-and super-markets, constituting a major financial burden for the local people. In consequence, overexploitation of natural resources from Arabuko Sokoke forest (illegal logging, charcoal burning, poaching of wild animals) increased during the past years. In this commentary we document ecosystem heterogeneity leading to high species richness. We discuss direct and indirect drivers of habitat degradation of the Arabuko Sokoke forest, and critically reflect current and future solutions. Key drivers of habitat destruction and biodiversity loss are (i) illegal timber logging and removal of woody biomass, (ii) poaching of bush-meat, (iii) exceeding of the carrying capacity by the local elephant population, restricted to Arabuko Sokoke by an electric fence, and (iv) weak governance structures and institutional confusion exacerbating illegal exploitation of natural resources. Potential solutions might be: Provisioning of additional income sources; reforestation of the surrounding areas in the framework of REDD+ activities to create a buffer around the remaining primary forest; improving governance structures that formulates clear guidelines on future usage and protection of natural resources within the Arabuko Sokoke forest; and family planning to counteract human demographic pressure and the exploitation of natural resources
