Description of Even-Even Xe isotopes in the transitional region of IBM

Properties of Xe isotopes isotopes are studied in the U(5)O(6) transitional region of Interacting Boson Model (IBM-1). The energy levels and B(E2)transition rates are calculated via the affine SU(1,1)Lie Algebra. The agreement with the most recent experimental is acceptable. The evaluated Hamiltonian control parameters suggest a spherical to (/gamma)-soft shape transition and propose the Xe(A=130)nucleus as the best candidate for the E(5)symmetry.Comment: 15 pages,3 figures. Glycan labeling strategies and their use in identification and quantification

    Get PDF
Most methods for the analysis of oligosaccharides from biological sources require a glycan derivatization step: glycans may be derivatized to introduce a chromophore or fluorophore, facilitating detection after chromatographic or electrophoretic separation. Derivatization can also be applied to link charged or hydrophobic groups at the reducing end to enhance glycan separation and mass-spectrometric detection. Moreover, derivatization steps such as permethylation aim at stabilizing sialic acid residues, enhancing mass-spectrometric sensitivity, and supporting detailed structural characterization by (tandem) mass spectrometry. Finally, many glycan labels serve as a linker for oligosaccharide attachment to surfaces or carrier proteins, thereby allowing interaction studies with carbohydrate-binding proteins. In this review, various aspects of glycan labeling, separation, and detection strategies are discussed

Octupole fragmentation and the structure of Ba-134

[[abstract]]©1997 APS - The low energy octupole states in Ba-134 were examined using the inelastic scattering of 22 MeV protons. Strong fragmentation of the low energy octupole strength, which was observed in Pt-196,Pt-198 and was identified as a signature of the O(6) dynamical symmetry limit of the interacting boson approximation (IBA), does not occur in Ba-134, which has been proposed to have O(6) structure. The model calculations demonstrate that there is, in fact, little difference in the structure of the low-lying positive parity levels between certain nuclei in a U(5)-->SU(3) (vibrator-->rotor) transition and an O(6) nucleus (gamma-soft nucleus), but that the octupole fragmentation has an enhanced sensitivity to the d-boson composition of the wave functions and thereby reveals differences in structure that are not easily discernible with other observables.[[fileno]]2060211010012[[department]]醫環

Consistent interpretation of B(E2) values and g factors in deformed nuclei

    No full text
A simple phenomenological model is discussed that simultaneously accounts for the saturation of B(E2; 0(1)(+)-> 2(1)(+)) values and the newly recognized near constancy of g(2(1)(+)) factor values in deformed nuclei. The model invokes reduced effective contributions to these observables from the valence neutrons and protons. Empirical evidence supporting this ansatz comes from recently extracted proton-neutron interaction strengths
