Universality and scaling study of the critical behavior of the two-dimensional Blume-Capel model in short-time dynamics
In this paper we study the short-time behavior of the Blume-Capel model at
the tricritical point as well as along the second order critical line. Dynamic
and static exponents are estimated by exploring scaling relations for the
magnetization and its moments at early stage of the dynamic evolution. Our
estimates for the dynamic exponents, at the tricritical point, are and .Comment: 12 pages, 9 figure
Short-time dynamics and magnetic critical behavior of two-dimensional random-bond Potts model
The critical behavior in the short-time dynamics for the random-bond Potts
ferromagnet in two-dimensions is investigated by short-time dynamic Monte Carlo
simulations. The numerical calculations show that this dynamic approach can be
applied efficiently to study the scaling characteristic, which is used to
estimate the critical exponents theta, beta/nu and z for the quenched disorered
systems from the power-law behavior of the kth moments of magnetizations.Comment: 10 pages, 4 figures Soft Condensed Matte

The roles of sulfuric acid in new particle formation and growth in the mega-city of Beijing
Simultaneous measurements of gaseous sulfuric acid and particle number size distributions were performed to investigate aerosol nucleation and growth during CAREBeijing-2008. The analysis of the measured aerosols and sulfuric acid with an aerosol dynamic model shows the dominant role of sulfuric acid in new particle formation (NPF) process but also in the subsequent growth in Beijing. Based on the data of twelve NPF events, the average formation rates (2â13 cmâ3 sâ1) show a linear correlation with the sulfuric acid concentrations (R2=0.85). Coagulation seems to play a significant role in reducing the number concentration of nucleation mode particles with the ratio of the coagulation loss to formation rate being 0.41±0.16. The apparent growth rates vary from 3 to 11 nm hâ1. Condensation of sulfuric acid and its subsequent neutralization by ammonia and coagulation contribute to the apparent particle growth on average 45±18% and 34±17%, respectively. The 30% higher concentration of sulfate than organic compounds in particles during the seven sulfur-rich NPF events but 20% lower concentration of sulfate during the five sulfur-poor type suggest that organic compounds are an important contributor to the growth of the freshly nucleated particles, especially during the sulfur-poor cases
The short-time behaviour of a kinetic Ashkin-Teller model on the critical line
We simulate the kinetic Ashkin-Teller model with both ordered and disordered
initial states, evolving in contact with a heat-bath at the critical
temperature. The power law scaling behaviour for the magnetic order and
electric order are observed in the early time stage. The values of the critical
exponent vary along the critical line. Another dynamical exponent
is also obtained in the process.Comment: 14 pages LaTeX with 4 figures in postscrip
Distributed phase-covariant cloning with atomic ensembles via quantum Zeno dynamics
We propose an interesting scheme for distributed orbital state quantum
cloning with atomic ensembles based on the quantum Zeno dynamics. These atomic
ensembles which consist of identical three-level atoms are trapped in distant
cavities connected by a single-mode integrated optical star coupler. These
qubits can be manipulated through appropriate modulation of the coupling
constants between atomic ensemble and classical field, and the cavity decay can
be largely suppressed as the number of atoms in the ensemble qubits increases.
The fidelity of each cloned qubit can be obtained with analytic result. The
present scheme provides a new way to construct the quantum communication
network.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figure
Nonadiabatic approach to dimerization gap and optical absorption coefficient of the Su-Schrieffer-Heeger model
An analytical nonadiabatic approach has been developed to study the
dimerization gap and the optical absorption coefficient of the
Su-Schrieffer-Heeger model where the electrons interact with dispersive quantum
phonons. By investigating quantitatively the effects of quantum phonon
fluctuations on the gap order and the optical responses in this system, we show
that the dimerization gap is much more reduced by the quantum lattice
fluctuations than the optical absorption coefficient is. The calculated optical
absorption coefficient and the density of states do not have the
inverse-square-root singularity, but have a peak above the gap edge and there
exist a significant tail below the peak. The peak of optical absorption
spectrum is not directly corresponding to the dimerized gap. Our results of the
optical absorption coefficient agree well with those of the experiments in both
the shape and the peak position of the optical absorption spectrum.Comment: 14 pages, 7 figures. to be published in PR

Fragmentation and Multifragmentation of 10.6A GeV Gold Nuclei
We present the results of a study performed on the interactions of 10.6A GeV
gold nuclei in nuclear emulsions. In a minimum bias sample of 1311 interac-
tions, 5260 helium nuclei and 2622 heavy fragments were observed as Au projec-
tile fragments. The experimental data are analyzed with particular emphasis of
target separation interactions in emulsions and study of criticalexponents.
Multiplicity distributions of the fast-moving projectile fragments are inves-
tigated. Charged fragment moments, conditional moments as well as two and three
-body asymmetries of the fast moving projectile particles are determined in
terms of the total charge remaining bound in the multiply charged projectile
fragments. Some differences in the average yields of helium nuclei and heavier
fragments are observed, which may be attributed to a target effect. However,
two and three-body asymmetries and conditional moments indicate that the
breakup mechanism of the projectile seems to be independent of target mass. We
looked for evidence of critical point observable in finite nuclei by study the
resulting charged fragments distributions. We have obtained the values for the
critical exponents gamma, beta and tau and compare our results with those at
lower energy experiment (1.0A GeV data). The values suggest that a phase
transition like behavior, is observed.Comment: latex, revtex, 28 pages, 12 figures, 3tables, submitted to Europysics

Search for the ZÎł decay mode of new high-mass resonances in pp collisions at âs = 13 TeV with the ATLAS detector
This letter presents a search for narrow, high-mass resonances in the ZÎł final state with the Z boson decaying into a pair of electrons or muons. The âs = 13 TeV pp collision data were recorded by the ATLAS detector at the CERN Large Hadron Collider and have an integrated luminosity of 140 fbâ1. The data are found to be in agreement with the Standard Model background expectation. Upper limits are set on the resonance production cross section times the decay branching ratio into ZÎł. For spin-0 resonances produced via gluonâgluon fusion, the observed limits at 95% confidence level vary between 65.5 fb and 0.6 fb, while for spin-2 resonances produced via gluonâgluon fusion (or quarkâantiquark initial states) limits vary between 77.4 (76.1) fb and 0.6 (0.5) fb, for the mass range from 220 GeV to 3400 GeV
