Sterile neutrino dark matter in Bāˆ’LB-L extension of the standard model and galactic 511 keV line

Sterile right-handed neutrinos can be naturally embedded in a low scale gauged U(1)Bāˆ’LU(1)_{B-L} extension of the standard model. We show that, within a low reheating scenario, such a neutrino is an interesting candidate for dark matter. We emphasize that if the neutrino mass is of order of MeV, then it accounts for the measured dark matter relic density and also accommodates the observed flux of 511 keV photons from the galactic bulge.Comment: 10 pages, 1 figure, references added, final version appeared in JCA

Muon Anomalous Magnetic Moment and mu -> e gamma in B-L Model with Inverse Seesaw

We study the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon, a_\mu, and lepton flavor violating decay \mu -> e \gamma in TeV scale B-L extension of the Standard Model (SM) with inverse seesaw mechanism. We show that the B-L contributions to a_\mu are severely constrained, therefore the SM contribution remains intact. We also emphasize that the current experimental limit of BR(\mu -> e \gamma) can be satisfied for a wide range of parameter space and it can be within the reach of MEG experiment.Comment: 10 pages, 4 Figure

This is the post print version of the article. The official published version can be obained from the link - Copyright 2009 IOP Publishing LtdThis paper is concerned with the synchronization problem for a new class of continuous time delayed complex networks with stochastic nonlinearities (randomly occurring nonlinearities), interval time-varying delays, unbounded distributed delays as well as multiple stochastic disturbances. The stochastic nonlinearities and multiple stochastic disturbances are investigated here in order to reflect more realistic dynamical behaviors of the complex networks that are affected by the noisy environment. By utilizing a new matrix functional with the idea of partitioning the lower bound h1 of the time-varying delay, we employ the stochastic analysis techniques and the properties of the Kronecker product to establish delay-dependent synchronization criteria that ensure the globally asymptotically mean-square synchronization of the addressed stochastic delayed complex networks. The sufficient conditions obtained are in the form of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) whose solutions can be readily solved by using the standard numerical software. A numerical example is exploited to show the applicability of the proposed results. This work was supported in part by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) of the UK under Grant GR/S27658/01, an International Joint Project sponsored by the Royal Society of the UK, the National 973 Program of China under Grant 2009CB320600, the National Natural Science Foundation of China under Grant 60804028, the Specialized Research Fund for the Doctoral Program of Higher Education for New Teachers under Grant 200802861044, the Teaching and Research Fund for Excellent Young Teachers at Southeast University of China, and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation of Germany

Business centers are becoming one of the most important architectural components of modern cities; the need of such centers became a demand due to the concentration of high number of businesses and international businesses within big cities, which created the demand of an architectural cluster of business centers that facilitates running business between enterprises and keep the high concentration of financial flow within one zone.To understand this concept; the article will first note the most important business centers of our modern world, the percentage of companies present, and the medium rental cost. The financial components plays a huge role when it comes to business centers; as they always need funding to be realized, and to be funded they need to be able to produce an equivalent value and profit; in other terms they need to be self-independent buildings, to be able to understand that we need to take a look at the current examples in our world. Moreover, itā€™s very important to understand the different types of business centers, as they provide a variety of different services not to mention the importance of understanding location requisites depending on the type of business center. In this article the main classification of business centers is explained briefly with an example.Urban requirements and importance is discussed briefly as it is important to understand the concept of CBD (Central Business District) and how it reflects on the hosting cities in many different ways. As our urban formation is changing slowly and architectural demands are changing, itā€™s important to plan for our future cities to fulfill the objective and create flexibility and comfort, and avoid future complication and unnecessary waste of cost

APPLICATION OF SIMPLIFIED SURFACE ENERGY BALANCE INDEX (S-SEBI) FOR CROP EVAPOTRANSPIRATION USING LANDSAT 8

Assessment and monitoring of crop water requirement (CWR) or crop evapotranspiration (ETc) over a large spatial scale is the critical component for irrigation and drought management. Due to growing competition and increasing shortage of water, careful utilization of water in irrigation is essential. The usage of water for irrigation/agriculture is a top priority for countries like Pakistan, where the GDP mostly based on agriculture, and its scarcity may affect the crop production. Remote sensing techniques can be used to estimate crop water requirement or crop evapotranspiration which can help in efficient irrigation. Simplified-surface energy balance index (SSEBI) model is used to estimate evapotranspiration (ET) of wheat during 2015–16 growing period in Tando Adam, Sindh. Landsat-8 satellite data for the corresponding years were used. With the help of National Agromet Centre report chart of Crop coefficient (Kc) the CWR, ETc of all phonological stages were estimated. Results indicated that maximum ET and maximum CWR were found in the third leaf to tillering stage with a value of 0.75 and 0.89 respectively. This study will help in managing and monitoring of ET spatial distribution over irrigated crops which results in better irrigation scheduling and water consumption

Integration of Distributed Generations in Smart Distribution Networks Using Multi-Criteria Based Sustainable Planning Approach

    Get PDF
Energy planning has become more complicated in the 21st century of sustainable development due to the inclusion of numerous standards such as techno-economic, and environmental considerations. This paper proposes multi-criteria sustainable planning (MCSP) based optimization approach for identifying DGsā€™ optimal allocations and rating powers. The main objectives of this paper are the reduction of the networkā€™s total power loss, voltage profile improvement, energy loss saving maximization, and curtailing environmental emissions and water consumption to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 3, 6, 7, 13, and 15) by taking the constraints into consideration. Different alternatives are evaluated across four aspects of performance indices; technical, cost-economic, environmental, and social (TEES). In terms of TEES performance evaluations, various multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) approaches are used to determine the optimal trade-off among the available solutions. These methods are gaining wide acceptance due to their flexibility while considering all criteria and objectives concurrently. Annual energy loss saving is increased by 97.13%, voltage profile is improved to 0.9943 (p.u), and emissions are reduced by 82.45% using the proposed technique. The numerical results of the proposed MCSP approach are compared to previously published works to validate and may be used by researchers and energy planners as a planning tool for ADN schemes

Purpose: To determine the major reasons, sources, diseases and drugs responsible for increasing trend of self-medication.Method: A community-based cross-sectional survey was carried out in the district of Faisalabad in Pakistan. Respondents (1488) were classified on the basis of age, sex, education, lifestyle and their economical level. A questionnaire was distributed among the sample population to collect data. Results: Majority of respondents involved in self-medication were aged between 15 and 20 years. Family members (N = 717, 48 %) were considered the major source of information for self-medicated drugs. Lack of time (N = 504, 37 %) while economic issues (N = 485, 33 %) were the major reasons for self-medication. Medical stores were the source of drug purchase by 1087 (73 %) respondents. Headache (N = 772, 52 %) and fever (N = 600, 40 %) were the main indications for self-medication while 694 respondents reported that they engage in single-dose self-medication. Paracetamol (N = 689, 46 %), other analgesics (N = 488, 33 %),Ā  non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (N = 680, 46 %) were reported to be used frequently for self-medication.Conclusion: Self-medication is prevalent in the Pakistani community due to easy access to over the counter (OTC) and prescription-only medicinesĀ  (POM). This may lead to untoward effects in consumers of the products. Special interventions by relevant regulatory agencies regarding the sale of the drugs are therefore required. Keywords: Self-medication, OTC drugs, Pharmacist
