Generalization of a theorem of Erdos and Renyi on Sidon Sequences
Erd\H os and R\'{e}nyi claimed and Vu proved that for all and for
all , there exists and a sequence of integers
such that the number of ordered representations of any number as a sum of
elements of is bounded by , and such that .
We give two new proofs of this result. The first one consists of an explicit
construction of such a sequence. The second one is probabilistic and shows the
existence of such a that satisfies ,
improving the bound obtained by Vu.
Finally we use the "alteration method" to get a better bound for
, obtaining a more precise estimate for the growth of
sequences.Comment: 12 pages, no figure
Blind multiuser deconvolution in fading and dispersive channels
An adaptive near-far resistant technique for the blind joint multiuser identification and detection in asynchronous CDMA systems is analyzed in fading and dispersive GSM channels.Peer ReviewedPostprint (published version
Generalized Sidon sets
We give asymptotic sharp estimates for the cardinality of a set of residue
classes with the property that the representation function is bounded by a
prescribed number. We then use this to obtain an analogous result for sets of
integers, answering an old question of Simon Sidon.Comment: 21 pages, no figure
Mesostructured zeolites: bridging the gap between zeolites and MCM-41
Surfactant-templating is one of the most versatile and useful techniques to implement mesoporous systems into solid materials. Various strategies based on various interactions between surfactants and solid precursors have been explored to produce new structures. Zeolites are invaluable as size- and shape-selective solid acid catalysts. Nevertheless, their micropores impose limitations on the mass transport of bulky feed and/or product molecules. Many studies have attempted to address this by utilizing surfactant-assisting technology to alleviate the diffusion constraints. However, most efforts have failed due to micro/mesopore phase separation. Recently, a new technique combining the uses of cationic surfactants and mild basic solutions was introduced to synthesise mesostructured zeolites. These materials sustain the unique characteristics of zeolites (i.e., strong acidity, crystallinity, microporosity, and hydrothermal stability), including tunable mesopore sizes and degrees of mesoporosity. The mesostructured zeolites are now commercially available through Rive Technology, and show superior performance in VGO cracking. This feature article provides an overview of recent explorations in the introduction of mesoporosity into zeolites using surfactant-templating techniques. Various porous materials, preparation methods, physical and catalytic properties of mesostructured zeolites will be discussed
Towards a Semantic Gas Source Localization under Uncertainty
Towards a Semantic Gas Source Localization under Uncertainty.Communications in Computer and Information Science book series (CCIS, volume 855), doi:10.1007/978-3-319-91479-4_42This work addresses the problem of efficiently and coherently
locating a gas source in a domestic environment with a mobile
robot, meaning efficiently the coverage of the shortest distance as possible
and coherently the consideration of different gas sources explaining
the gas presence. The main contribution is the exploitation, for the
first time, of semantic relationships between the gases detected and the
objects present in the environment to face this challenging issue. Our
proposal also takes into account both the uncertainty inherent in the
gas classification and object recognition processes. These uncertainties
are combined through a probabilistic Bayesian framework to provide a
priority-ordered list of (previously observed) objects to check. Moreover
the proximity of the different candidates to the current robot location
is also considered by a cost function, which output is used for planning
the robot inspection path. We have conducted an initial demonstration
of the suitability of our gas source localization approach by simulating
this task within domestic environments for a variable number of objects,
and comparing it with an greedy approach.Universidad de Málaga. Campus de Excelencia Internacional AndalucÃa Tech
