Recessive Epidermolysis Bullosa simplex- A case report

Background:Epidermolysis bullosa simplex (EBS) is characterized by intraepidermal blister formation, most commonly appearing in early infancy. Many variants of EBS exist; the four most common variants are inherited in an autosomal dominant fashion. The recessive forms are rare and less reported in our environment. The objective of this report is to describe the case of a young boy with a rare, recessive variant of EBS born to first-cousin parents. Method: The case records of a twelve-year old Nigerian male being managed at the dermatology clinic of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH), Kano was reviewed. Relevant clinical photographs with informed consent and review of literature were carried out. Results: A 12 year old Nigerian male, product of consanguineous marriage presented to the dermatology clinic with recurrent blistering of the skin since early childhood. The areas of the skin commonly affected include the knees, ankles, wrists and elbows with seasonal variations in the severity of lesions. His immediate younger brother is said to have similar skin lesions. Physical examination and histology were in keeping with EBS. Conclusion: Recessive EBS though rare, does occur in our environment and should be suspected in males with blistering skin conditions that are products of consanguineous marriage. Analisis Kejahatan Carding dalam Bentuk Cyber Crime dan Perlindungan Hukum di Indonesia

Pada saat ini perkembangan teknologi khususnya dalam bidang digital mengalami perkembangan yang sangat pesat, perkembangan teknologi juga dijadikan peluang bagi para pelaku kejahatan untuk melakukan kriminalitas di dunia maya atau media lainnya yang kerap dikenal dengan istilah cyber crime. Salah satu bentuk kejahatan teknologi ialah kejahatan Carding. Kejahatan Carding merupakan kejahatan mencuri data atau informasi kartu kredit orang lain secara ilegal. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian hukum normatif yang dilakukan dengan penelitian kepustakaan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk memeberikan solusi bahwa dalam menangani tindak pidana Carding, diperlukan penegakan Undang-Undang yang kuat untuk melindungi hak-hak para korban kejahatan Carding agar dapat mengurangi kasus Cyber Crime di Indonesia

Ecological risk assessment of heavy metals pollution on irrigated soil along Salanta River Valley, Kano State Nigeria

This paper assessed the heavy metals pollution in irrigated soil of salanta river valley of Sharada industrial area with aim of assessing the potential ecological risk of Cd, Cu, Cr and Zn. Soil samples were collected from five plots randomly selected along the stream and heavy metals (Cd, Cu, Cr and Zn) and pH were analyzed using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer and pH meter respectively. The mean values and standard deviation of heavy metals in the study area shows that there is variation in the mean values among the heavy metal in the study area in which Cr recorded mean values of 2.30mg/kg ± 0.45, Cu 1.01 mg/kg ±0.78, Cd 3.02 mg/kg ± 0.66, Zn 26.4 mg/kg± 5.45 and mean pH 6.8 ± 0.51. The Cd, Cu and Zn were found below European regulatory values, the mean value of Cd (3.02mg/kg) is found above EU regulatory values (3.0mg/kg) and the pH value of the study area shows that the soil is slightly acidic and can influence the availability and solubility of the heavy metals in the area. The assessment also show that Cd (Pij,= 1.0), Cu (Pij,= 0.007) and Zn (Pij,= 0.088) are heavily polluted the soil of the area, and also slightly polluted with Cr (Pij,= 0.025). However, the potential ecological risk assessment show that Cr (Eri = 0.005) and Cu (Eri = 0.003) have low potential ecological risk in the area; Zn (Eri = 0.04) has moderate potential ecological risk while Cd (Eri = 0.088) is considerable potential ecological risk in the soil of study area. It was recommended that the industries should treat their waste water before  discharge and farmers should avoid using waste water directly, sewage sludge and effluent for watering and manure respectively.Key words: Heavy metals, pollution, soil, ecological ris

SOSIALISASI PENTINGNYA PEMAHAMAN KEBEBASAN BERPENDAPAT DALAM BERMASYARAKAT

Dilaksanakan pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah untuk memberikan pemahaman dan keilmuan yang dapat digunakan dan diterapkan dimasyarakat, mengevaluasi masalah didalam masyarakat terutama dikalangan organisasi mahasiswa di Pematangsiantar serta mengupayakan memberikan solusi terhadap masalah yang ada terutama mengenai pemahaman kebebasan berpendapat dalam bermasyarakat. Kebanyakan organisasi yang terbentuk dan berkembang saat ini menganggap bahwa kebebasan berpendapat merupakan hak dan cita-cita dari masyarakat yang harus di utarakan baik melalui media internet ataupun sosial media serta orang ke orang. Dengan adanya pengabdian masyarakat ini dapat memberikan solusi dan penyegaran beberapa materi ilmu dasar tentang kebebasan berpendapat terutama dalam berorganisasi pemahamannya didalam Pendidikan perguruan tinggi. Dialkyldithiophosphate Acids (HDDPs) as Effective Lubricants of Sol–Gel Titania Coatings in Technical Dry Friction Conditions

The goal of this study was the investigation of the effectiveness of dialkyldithiophosphate acids (HDDPs) films in improving the tribological properties of thin, sol– gel derived titania coatings. Amorphous, anatase, and rutile titania coatings were obtained using sol–gel dip–coating deposition after treatment at 100, 500, and 1,000 C, respectively. Titania coatings were then modified from the liquid phase by HDDPs acids having dodecyl-(C12), tetradecyl-(C14), and hexadecyl-(C16) alkyl chains deposited by dip–coating (DC) and Langmuir–Blodgett (LB) methods. The influence of the deposition procedure, the length of the HDDPs alkyl chain and the type of titania substrate on the surface morphology and tribological properties were studied. It was found, using wetting contact angle measurements, that these modifications of titania coatings decrease the surface free energy and increase its hydrophobicity. The surface topography imaged by Atomic force microscopy (AFM), exhibit island-like or agglomerate features for the DC deposition method, while smooth topographies were observed for LB depositions. Tribological tests were conducted by means of a microtribometer operating in the normal load range 30–100 mN. Post-Operative Outcome of Desarda Repair of Inguinal Hernia in Emergency Case in Bangladesh

Background: Desarda hernia repair has emerged as a recognized operative method for inguinal hernia repair. Objective: The purpose of the present study was to see the outcome of emergency inguinal hernia repair by Desarda technique. Methodology: This was an observational study was carried out in the Department of Surgery at Sher-E-Bangla Medical College Hospital, Barisal, Bangladesh and Private Hospital, Narayanganj, Bangladesh from August 2015 to January 2017. Twenty patient was operated by Desarda technique. Variables includes age, operating time, post-operative complications, post-operative hospital stay, cost of the procedure, chronic groin pain and any early recurrence. Result: Mean age of patient 50.25±18.9, Mean operating time was 78.4±9.64 mins. Majority 16 patient experienced mild post-operative pain measured in VAS score. Mean with SD of hospital stay was 5.05±2.16 days. Patient had developed different post-operative complications like wound infection in 2(10.0%) cases, scrotal edema in 5(25.0%) cases, seroma formation in 1(5.0%) case and no early recurrence and. Conclusion: In this study, it revealed that Desarda repair was associated with less post-operative complications, less post-operative pain, zero recurrence rate, no chronic groin pain and performed in emergency cases. So it is safe and most reliable technique for complicated (Incarcerated, Obstructed, Strangulated) inguinal hernia. Journal of Current and Advance Medical Research 2020;7(1): 44-4

UPAYA MENUMBUHKAN KESADARAN PEMUDA MELALUI PEMBANGUNAN DESA(NAGORI BUNTU TURUNAN KECAMATAN HATONDUHAN KAB. SIMALUNGUN

Dilaksanakan pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah untuk memberikan pemahaman dan keilmuan yang dapat digunakan dan diterapkan didalam bermasyarakat, serta mengevaluasi masalah-masalah yang terjadi didalam masyarakat mengenai penyebab rendahnya kesadaran Pemuda dalam membangun desa melalui gotong royong di Nagori Buntu Turunan dan upaya menumbuhkan kesadaran Pemuda terhadap pentingnya Pembangunan melalui Gotong Royong di Nagori Buntu Turunan Dengan adanya pengabdian masyarakat ini dapat memberikan solusi dan pendalaman ilmu tentang membangun desa melalui gotong royong di Nagori Buntu Turunan. Selain itu pelaksanaan pengabdian ini juga melatih mahasiswa untuk bersosialisasi dengan masyarakat dan melakukan kegiatan nyata untuk meningkatkan semangat pemuda.
