The effects of Euro/TL volatility on the performance of Turkey - European Union trade: empirical evidence

Bu çalışmada; 1996-2011 döneminde, Euro/TL kurundaki dalgalanmaların Türkiye-AB ticaretini nasıl etkilediği araştırılmıştır. Bu bağlamda, öncelikle Philips-Perron ve KPSS birim kök testleri ve daha sonra da, Zivot-Andrews ve Lee- Strazicich yapısal kırılma testleri gerçekleştirilmiştir. Son olarak ise, değişkenler arasındaki ilişkinin yönünü belirlemek amacıyla Dolado-Lütkepohl Granger nedensellik testi uygulanmış ve Türkiye-AB ticaretinde çift yönlü nedensellik tespit edilmiştir.In this study the effect of Euro/TL exchange rate fluctuations on Turkey-EU trade is analyzed for 1996-2011 period. Determination of some biological characteristics and population parameters of the blotched picarel (Spicara flexuosa Rafinesque, 1810) distributed in the Eastern Black Sea (Rize - Hopa)

This study was carried out in order to determine some biological characteristics of the fish species of Spicara flexuosa, which is distributed on the Eastern Black Sea coast, and to contribute to the management of the picarel in all the seas of our country. Between October 2015 and September 2016, 599 fish samples were obtained and examined in the laboratory. It was determined that the examined individuals were distributed between the ages of I-VII which 31.22% of the population was male and 68.78% was female. The minimummaximum total length values of the samples were between 8.7 and 21.8 cm; and the weight values ranged from 7.1 to 129.94 g. It has been determined that the mean total length of males is statistically different from that of females (P<0.05). Von Bertalanffy growth equilibrium was calculated as “L∞=22.71 cm TL, K=0.243 year-1, t0=-2.306 year-1; W∞=118.27 g” for females, “L∞=38.34 cm TL, K=0.063 year -1, t0 = -6.381 year-1; W∞=755.37 g” for males, and “L∞=33.42 cm TL, K=0.080 year -1, t0=-5.381 year-1; W∞=401.24 g” for all individuals. The length-weight relation of all individuals was found as W= 0.0118*L2.9727 (R2 =0.9487). Evaluation of Anaesthetic Approaches in Transcatheter Aortic Valv Implantation Procedures

Objective:Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) has emerged as an alternative to surgical aortic valve replacement and has become a popular treatment modality for inoperable or patients at high surgical risk with severe aortic stenosis. We aimed to evaluate our perioperative anaesthetic experiences with patients undergoing TAVI under sedation or general anaesthesia (GA).Methods:One hundred and fifty-nine patients who underwent TAVI procedures were enrolled. Effects on TAVI outcomes of sedation and GA were compared.Results:The duration of surgery and anaesthesia was significantly longer in patients who received GA. Insertion site complication and post-TAVI pacemaker implantation rates were similar between the groups, but the frequency of intraoperative complications (10% vs. 0.8%; P=0.015), intraoperative hypotension (35.3% vs. 70%; P < 0.001), and acute kidney injury (12.6% vs. 27.5%; P=0.028) was significantly higher in the GA group. Stroke occurred in seven patients, and all were in the sedation group.Conclusion:GA is related to increased procedure time and acute kidney injury; therefore, local anaesthesia and sedation may be the first option in patients undergoing TAVI

Mortality Related Risk Factors in High-Risk Pulmonary Embolism in the ICU

Introduction. We sought to identify possible risk factors associated with mortality in patients with high-risk pulmonary embolism (PE) after intensive care unit (ICU) admission. Patients and Methods. PE patients, diagnosed with computer tomography pulmonary angiography, were included from two ICUs and were categorized into groups: group 1 high-risk patients and group 2 intermediate/low-risk patients. Results. Fifty-six patients were included. Of them, 41 (73.2%) were group 1 and 15 (26.7%) were group 2. When compared to group 2, need for vasopressor therapy (0 vs 68.3%; p18 (OR 42.47 95% CI 1.50–1201.1), invasive mechanical ventilation (OR 30.10 95% CI 1.96–463.31), and thrombolytic therapy (OR 0.03 95% CI 0.01–0.98) were found as independent predictors of mortality. Conclusion. In high-risk PE, admission APACHE II score and need for invasive mechanical ventilation may predict death in ICU. Thrombolytic therapy seems to be beneficial in these patients
