Nesta contexto, a estrutura logística para alocar eficientemente os recursos é fundamental e, devido à alta imprevisibilidade operacional combinada com o número de atores, exige a boa coordenação dos envolvidos para evitar que a perda de tempo e a ineficiência agravem o impacto do desastre na sociedade afetada.     Pathophysiological analysis of idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss by magnetic resonance imaging: A mini scoping review

    ObjectiveTo summarize the pathophysiological analysis of idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss (ISSNHL) by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), focusing on the findings of high signal or endolymphatic hydrops (EH) in the inner ear.MethodsWe summarize the published studies of our research group regarding the pathophysiological analysis of ISSNHL on MRI and review related clinical articles that have reported significantly high signal or the existence of EH in ears with ISSNHL.ResultsPre-contrast high signal on MRI may indicate minor hemorrhage or increased permeability of surrounding vessels to the perilymph, whereas post-contrast high signal indicates breakdown of the blood–labyrinth barrier, in which irreversible changes would lead to poor prognosis. In some cases of ISSNHL, primary EH could be pre-existing and may be a risk factor for the onset of ISSNHL.ConclusionAnalysis of ISSNHL by cutting-edge MRI evaluation could provide useful information for elucidating its pathophysiology and for predicting prognosis in this disease

    Evaluation of the immunoregulatory capacities of feed microbial materials in porcine intestinal immune and epithelial cells.

    The establishment of drug-free feeding systems has been required for secure and healthy lives- tock production. Although functional feed materials containing microorganisms as alternatives to enhance intestinal immunity are expected to be beneficial for reducing diarrhoea caused by pathogens in weaned piglets, the effects of such materials on porcine intestinal cells have not been investigated in detail. Therefore, this work evaluated the immunoregulatory functions of microbial feed materials in porcine intestinal immune and epithelial cells. Porcine immune cells isolated from Peyer?s patches and mesenteric lymph nodes were stimulated with six different feed materials containing microorganisms, and evaluated for lymphocyte mitogenicity and cytokine inductions. In addition, porcine intestinal epithelial cells were stimulated with the materials before treatment with heat-killed enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC), and analyzed for the proinflammatory cytokine expressions. The material containing Bifidobacterium thermophilum significantly augmented lymphocytes? mitogenicity and also induced a high expression of IL-2, IL-6 and IFN-γ in immune cells, and inhibited ETEC-induced overexpression of IL-6 and IL-8 via regulation of Toll-like receptor signaling. These results suggest that this feed material stimulates intestinal epithelial and immune cells to exert immunoregulation, suggesting that this feed is expected to contribute to promoting the health of piglets without using antimicrobial feed materials.Fil: Kumagae, Naosuke.     Hormonal regulation of temperature-induced growth in Arabidopsis

    [EN] Successful plant survival depends upon the proper integration of information from the environment with endogenous cues to regulate growth and development. We have investigated the interplay between ambient temperature and hormone action during the regulation of hypocotyl elongation, and we have found that gibberellins (GAs) and auxin are quickly and independently recruited by temperature to modulate growth rate, whereas activity of brassinosteroids (BRs) seems to be required later on. Impairment of GA biosynthesis blocked the increased elongation caused at higher temperatures, but hypocotyls of pentuple DELLA knockout mutants still reduced their response to higher temperatures when BR synthesis or auxin polar transport were blocked. The expression of several key genes involved in the biosynthesis of GAs and auxin was regulated by temperature, which indirectly resulted in coherent variations in the levels of accumulation of nuclear GFP-RGA (repressor of GA1) and in the activity of the DR5 reporter. DNA microarray and genetic analyses allowed the identification of the transcription factor PIF4 (phytochrome-interacting factor 4) as a major target in the promotion of growth at higher temperature. These results suggest that temperature regulates hypocotyl growth by individually impinging on several elements of a pre-existing network of signaling pathways involving auxin, BRs, GAs, and PIF4.We thank G.     Precise Measurement of Cosmic-Ray Proton and Helium Spectra with the BESS Spectrometer

    We report cosmic-ray proton and helium spectra in energy ranges of 1 to 120 GeV and 1 to 54 GeV/nucleon, respectively, measured by a balloon flight of the BESS spectrometer in 1998. The magnetic-rigidity of the cosmic-rays was reliably determined by highly precise measurement of the circular track in a uniform solenoidal magnetic field of 1 Tesla. Those spectra were determined within overall uncertainties of +-5 % for protons and +- 10 % for helium nuclei including statistical and systematic errors.Comment: 12 pages, 4 figure

    興味対象の発見を支援するためのビデオカメラおよびビデオフレームアルバムの活用

    ビデオカメラおよびビデオフレームアルバムの授業への活用を検討した。すなわち、学生にビデオカメラを持たせて、大学構内を自由に散策させ、その際気がついたこと、興味をもったことなどをビデオカメラで記録させた。さらに著者らがその映像記録をフレームアルバム化し、後日授業時間内で学生に返却して、見せるといった一連の授業を試みることにより、今回の試みが学生の新たな発想や興味対象の発見へのきっかけ作りになりうるかどうか検討した。ビデオカメラによる野外活動の行動様式への影響を支持する学生が多く、その理由として「ビデオを手にすると注意深くなる」「自分の印象深いものを人にわかるように撮った」といった感想と関連していると考えられる。また、自分の興味対象の発見に対してフレームアルバムを分析することは、比較的効果的であると評価され、「ビデオフレームアルバムはビデオを視聴するよりも全体の流れがわかってよい」といった感想も見られた。また、教授者にとっても映像記録を画像要素ごとに分類し、類似した画像のコマ数の多いものに注目することにより、各学生の興味対象を容易に比較分析することができた。今回の試みは、学生の野外観察時の行動様式や新たな興味対象の発見などに何らかの影響をおよぼしたものと考えられる。さらに、教授者が学生の興味対象を容易に比較分析できるため、学生との議論材料にも活用できるものと思われる。This study examined the effectiveness of a video camera and video-frame-albums to help students discover objects of particular interest to them. Biology students video-recorded things that interested them while they were walking outdoors. Video-frame-albums provided by an Automatic Printing System for Time-Sampled Video Pictures were efficiently used to analyze and compare students\u27 interests. The students concluded that the video-frame-albums were useful for discovering objects that interested them. They also concluded that carrying the video camera influenced their style of activity in the outdoors. These results suggest that trials in this study are effective to help students discover objects that interest them

    The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of an assisting mark, The a cross (a vertical line and a horizon line), which was put on the target to stabilize aiming in archery. Subjects in this study were nine male and one female university archers. They were required to aim at the center of the target for 5 sec. as in archery competition. Dependent valuables were frequency, angle of eye movement and eye fixation time. This study assumed that the presense of a cross on the target makes it easier to aim than under normal conditions. Hypotheses were as follows : (1) Frequency of eye movement for the cross condition is less than that for normal condition in aiming. (2) Eye fixation time for the cross condition is longer than that for normal condition in aiming. (3) Angle of eye movement on cross line condition is smaller than that for normal condition in aiming. The results of analysis indicated that the three hypothesizes were supported and that subjects focused attention on the center of the target when the cross was present on the target
