Nowadays, schoolchildren experience difficulties to regulate their learning,
having an impact on their performance. This is related to their low ability to
metacognitively regulate themselves. That is why in the last decade the interest to
develop this capacity from an early age has increased. The present research seeks
to verify the efficacy of the EM3A training guide to stimulate the use of
metacognitive strategies in a class with children of 3 years of age. The guide has 5
chapters that are worked on in 26 sessions. The design of the research is quasiexperimental
with pre and post-test. The sample consists of 29 3-year old children
of a private educational institution, with 15 children in the experimental group and
14 in the control group. The instrument, also created for this research, measures
planning, monitoring, and control strategies. After the application, the results
indicate that the guide is partially effective because it increases the use of planning
and monitoring strategies. However, it does not reflect changes in control strategies.
Therefore, it is considered that only the chapters devoted to planning and
monitoring strategies can be used to stimulate metacognitive strategies.Tesi
This Draft Local Intervention (PIL) is the work of completing the II Specialization Course in Diversity and Citizenship Education with Emphasis in Youth and Adults (EJA). The elaboration of this is the result of a survey conducted with students from 1st Grade 3rd Segment Centro Educacional GISNO and Centro Educacional 02 do Cruzeiro. A questionnaire aimed to survey data to identify the profile of students by examining the reasons for dropouts and what led them to seek the EJA. It was also possible to identify the knowledge regarding the ESMS, the ProUni and the desire of students to receive professional guidance. During the research, it was also possible to see that much of the student body has low self-esteem. Faced with this demand, this PIL's general objective is to raise the self-esteem of students by means of Vocational Guidance . The methodology of this project is action research and aims to guide students as educational public policies, social economy and the world of work through the formation of habits of study, workshops and individual assistance. The evaluation will be continuously
Rapid coral mortality following doldrums-like conditions on Iriomote, Japan
Coral bleaching can be induced by many different stressors, however, the most common cause of mass bleaching in the field is higher than average sea surface temperatures (SST). Here, we describe an unusual bleaching event that followed very calm sea conditions combined with higher than average SST. Patterns of mortality differed from typical bleaching in four ways: 1) mortality was very rapid; 2) a different suite of species were most affected; 3) tissue mortality in Acropora spp. was often restricted to the center of the colony; 4) the event occurred early in summer. The two weeks prior to the event included 8 days where the average wind speed was less than 3 ms-1. In addition, SSTs in the weeks preceding and during the event were 1.0-1.5°C higher than the mean for the last 30 years. We hypothesize that this unusual bleaching event was caused by anoxia resulting from a lack of water movement induced by low wind speeds combined with high SST
Principles of the magnetic resonance imaging movie method for articulatory movement : a review
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has become a critical tool for dental examination. MRI has many advantages over radiographic examination methods, including the lack of a requirement for patient exposure and the ability to capture high-contrast images of various tissue and organ types. However, MRI also has several limitations, including long examination times and the existence of metallic or motion artifacts. A cardiac imaging method using cine sequences was developed in the 1990s. This technique allows for analysis of heart movement and functional blood flow. Moreover, this method has been applied in dentistry. Recent research involving 3T MRI has led to the achievement of a temporal resolution of <10 ms, surpassing the frame rate of typical video recording. The current review introduces the history and principles of the cine sequence method and its application to the oral and maxillofacial regions
Evaluation of Financial and Non-financial Conflicts of Interest and Quality of Evidence underlying Psoriatic Arthritis Clinical Practice Guidelines-Analysis of Personal Payments from Pharmaceutical Companies and Authors' Self-citation Rate in Japan and the United States
OBJECTIVE: To assess financial conflict of interest (FCOI) and non-financial conflicts of interest (NFCOI) among psoriatic arthritis clinical practice guideline (PsACPG) authors in Japan and US, and to evaluate the quality of evidence and strength of recommendations of PsACPG.METHODS: We performed a retrospective analysis using payment data from major Japanese pharmaceutical companies and the US Open Payments Database from 2016 to 2018. All authors of PsACPG issued by Japanese Dermatological Association (JDAPsACPG) and American College of Rheumatology (ACRPsACPG) were included.RESULTS: Of 23 CPG authors in Japan, 21 (91.3%) received at least one payment, with the combined total of 4,081,629 during the same period. The 3-year combined average payment per author was 114,302) in Japan and 259,670) in US. 18 (78.3%) JDAPsACPG and 12 (48.0%) ACRPsACPG authors had undisclosed FCOI worth 218,501, respectively. The percentage of citations with at least one CPG author relative to total citations were 3.4% in Japan and 33.6% in US. 71.4% and 88.8% of recommendations for psoriatic arthritis in JDA and ACR were supported by low or very low quality of evidence.CONCLUSION: More rigorous cross-checking of information disclosed by pharmaceutical companies and self-reported by physicians, and more stringent and transparent COI policies are necessary.</p
A new cancer diagnostic system based on a CDK profiling technology
AbstractA series of molecular pathological investigations of the molecules that stimulate the cyclin dependent kinases (CDK1, 2, 4, and 6) have led to enormous accumulation of knowledge of the clinical significance of these molecules for cancer diagnosis. However, the molecules have yet to be applied to clinical cancer diagnosis, as there is no available technology for application of the knowledge in a clinical setting. We hypothesized that the direct measurement of CDK activities and expressions (CDK profiling) might produce clinically relevant values for the diagnosis. This study investigated the clinical relevance of CDK profiling in gastrointestinal carcinoma tissues by using originally developed expression and activity analysis methods. We have established novel methods and an apparatus for analyzing the expression and activities of the CDK molecules in lysate of tumor tissue in a clinical setting, and examined 30 surgically dissected gastrointestinal carcinomas and corresponding normal mucosal specimens. We demonstrate here that remarkably elevated CDK2 activity is evident in more than 70% of carcinoma tissues. Moreover, a G1-CDK activity profiling accurately mirrored the differences in proliferation between tumor and normal colonic tissues. Our results suggest that CDK profiling is a potent molecular–clinical approach to complement the conventional pathological diagnosis, and to further assist in the individualized medications
Upper limits on the strength of periodic gravitational waves from PSR J1939+2134
The first science run of the LIGO and GEO gravitational wave detectors
presented the opportunity to test methods of searching for gravitational waves
from known pulsars. Here we present new direct upper limits on the strength of
waves from the pulsar PSR J1939+2134 using two independent analysis methods,
one in the frequency domain using frequentist statistics and one in the time
domain using Bayesian inference. Both methods show that the strain amplitude at
Earth from this pulsar is less than a few times .Comment: 7 pages, 1 figure, to appear in the Proceedings of the 5th Edoardo
