Mapping QTLs for mineral accumulation and shoot dry biomass under different Zn nutritional conditions in Chinese cabbage ( Brassica rapa L. ssp. pekinensis )
Abstract Chinese cabbage (Brassica rapa L. ssp. pekinensis) is one of the most important vegetables in China. Genetic dissection of leaf mineral accumulation and tolerance to Zn stress is important for the improvement of the nutritional quality of Chinese cabbage by breeding. A mapping population with 183 doubled haploid (DH) lines was used to study the genetics of mineral accumulation and the growth response to Zn. The genetic map was constructed based on 203 AFLPs, 58 SSRs, 22 SRAPs and four ESTPs. The concentration of 11 minerals was determined in leaves for 142 DH lines grown in an open field. In addition shoot dry biomass (SDB) under normal, deficient and excessive Zn nutritional conditions were investigated in hydroponics experiments. Ten QTLs, each explaining 11.1¿17.1% of the Na, Mg, P, Al, Fe, Mn, Zn and Sr concentration variance, were identified by multiple-QTL model (MQM) mapping. One common QTL was found affecting SDB under normal, deficient and excessive Zn nutritional conditions. An additional QTL was detected for SDB under Zn excess stress only. Improving Application of Bayesian Neural Networks to Discriminate Neutrino Events from Backgrounds in Reactor Neutrino Experiments
The application of Bayesian Neural Networks(BNN) to discriminate neutrino
events from backgrounds in reactor neutrino experiments has been described in
Ref.\cite{key-1}. In the paper, BNN are also used to identify neutrino events
in reactor neutrino experiments, but the numbers of photoelectrons received by
PMTs are used as inputs to BNN in the paper, not the reconstructed energy and
position of events. The samples of neutrino events and three major backgrounds
from the Monte-Carlo simulation of a toy detector are generated in the signal
region. Compared to the BNN method in Ref.\cite{key-1}, more He/Li
background and uncorrelated background in the signal region can be rejected by
the BNN method in the paper, but more fast neutron background events in the
signal region are unidentified using the BNN method in the paper. The
uncorrelated background to signal ratio and the He/Li background to
signal ratio are significantly improved using the BNN method in the paper in
comparison with the BNN method in Ref.\cite{key-1}. But the fast neutron
background to signal ratio in the signal region is a bit larger than the one in

IBM-1 description of the fission products Ru
IBM-1} calculations for the fission products Ru have been
carried out. The even-even isotopes of Ru can be described as transitional
nuclei situated between the U(5) (spherical vibrator) and SO(6)
(-unstable rotor) symmetries of the Interacting Boson Model. At first,
a Hamiltonian with only one- and two-body terms has been used. Excitation
energies and (E2) ratios of gamma transitions have been calculated. A
satisfactory agreement has been obtained, with the exception of the odd-even
staggering in the quasi- bands of Ru. The observed pattern
is rather similar to the one for a rigid triaxial rotor. A calculation based on
a Hamiltonian with three-body terms was able to remove this discrepancy. The
relation between the IBM and the triaxial rotor model was also examined.Comment: 22 pages, 8 figure

spectrum recoiling against the charged , the charged
particle is found as a low mass enhancement. If a Breit-Wigner function of
constant width is used to parameterize the kappa, its pole locates at MeV/. Also in this channel,
the decay is observed for the first time.

studied. The invariant mass distribution exhibits a near-threshold
enhancement that peaks around 2.24 GeV/.

The ARGO-YBJ Experiment Progresses and Future Extension
Gamma ray source detection above 30TeV is an encouraging approach for finding
galactic cosmic ray origins. All sky survey for gamma ray sources using wide
field of view detector is essential for population accumulation for various
types of sources above 100GeV. To target the goals, the ARGO-YBJ experiment has
been established. Significant progresses have been made in the experiment. A
large air shower detector array in an area of 1km2 is proposed to boost the
sensitivity. Hybrid detection with multi-techniques will allow a good
discrimination between different types of primary particles, including photons
and protons, thus enable an energy spectrum measurement for individual specie.
Fluorescence light detector array will extend the spectrum measurement above
100PeV where the second knee is located. An energy scale determined by balloon
experiments at 10TeV will be propagated to ultra high energy cosmic ray
experiments

By analyzing the data sets of 17.3, 6.5 and 1.0 pb taken,

detector at the BEPC collider, we measure the observed cross sections for

and at the three energy
points. Based on these cross sections we set the upper limits on the observed
cross sections and the branching fractions for decay into these
