Quantum Shape-Phase Transitions in Finite Nuclei

    Get PDF
Quantum shape-phase transitions in finite nuclei are considered in the framework of the interacting boson model. Critical-point Hamiltonians for first- and second-order transitions are identified by resolving them into intrinsic and collective parts. Suitable wave functions and finite-N estimates for observables at the critical-points are derived.Comment: 6 pages, 2 figures, Proc. 2nd Int. Partial Dynamical Symmetry as an Intermediate Symmetry Structure

We introduce the notion of a partial dynamical symmetry for which a prescribed symmetry is neither exact nor completely broken. We survey the different types of partial dynamical symmetries and present empirical examples in each category.Comment: 10 pages, 5 figures, Proc. Int. Deformed Pseudospin Doublets as a Fingerprint of a Relativistic Supersymmetry in Nuclei

The single-particle spectrum of deformed shell-model states in nuclei, is shown to exhibit a supersymmetric pattern. The latter involves deformed pseudospin doublets and intruder levels. The underlying supersymmetry is associated with the relativistic pseudospin symmetry of the nuclear mean-field Dirac Hamiltonian with scalar and vector potentials.Comment: 6 pages, 3 figures, Proc. 10th Int. Critical-Point Structure in Finite Nuclei

Properties of quantum shape-phase transitions in finite nuclei are considered in the framework of the interacting boson model. Special emphasis is paid to the dynamics at the critical-point of a general first-order phase transition.Comment: 5 pages, 3 figures, Proc. Int. Conf. on ``Frontiers in Nuclear Structure, Astrophysics and Reactions: FINUSTAR'', Sep. 12-17, 2005, Kos, Greec

    Partial Dynamical Symmetries in Nuclei

Partial dynamical symmetries (PDS) are shown to be relevant to the interpretation of the K=02K=0_2 band and to the occurrence of F-spin multiplets of ground and scissors bands in deformed nuclei. Hamiltonians with bosonic and fermionic PDS are presented.Comment: 6 pages, 2 figures, Proc. Int. Conf.
