    Exchange routing information between new neighbor nodes to improve AODV performance

    In Ad hoc On-Demand Distance Vector (AODV) protocol, once an on-demand link is established, it only maintains that link and does not care about any other paths. AODV may not use some more optimal or reserved paths which occur later but may improve its current transfer. We modify AODV that each node uses routing information provided by the new neighbour nodes to find out and update to better paths and create accumulated routes for later use. Our modeling results in NS2 show that the approach can create more optimal routes and significantly improve the performance with high mobility and traffic level network in term of delay and packet delivery ratio

    Spin-triplet pairing in large nuclei

    The nuclear pairing condensate is expected to change character from spin-singlet to spin-triplet when the nucleus is very large and the neutron and proton numbers Z,NZ,N are equal. We investigate the transition between these two phases within the framework of the Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov equations, using a zero-range interaction to generate the pairing. We confirm that extremely large nucleus would indeed favor triplet pairing condensates, with the Hamiltonian parameters taken from known systematics. The favored phase is found to depend on the specific orbitals at the Fermi energy. The smallest nuclei with a well-developed spin-triplet condensate are in the mass region A ~ 130-140.Comment: 8 pages, 2 figures, 2 table

    Calibration of LAMOST Stellar Surface Gravities Using the Kepler Asteroseismic Data

    Asteroseismology is a powerful tool to precisely determine the evolutionary status and fundamental properties of stars. With the unprecedented precision and nearly continuous photometric data acquired by the NASA Kepler mission, parameters of more than 104^4 stars have been determined nearly consistently. However, most studies still use photometric effective temperatures (Teff) and metallicities ([Fe/H]) as inputs, which are not sufficiently accurate as suggested by previous studies. We adopted the spectroscopic Teff and [Fe/H] values based on the LAMOST low-resolution spectra (R~1,800), and combined them with the global oscillation parameters to derive the physical parameters of a large sample of stars. Clear trends were found between {\Delta}logg(LAMOST - seismic) and spectroscopic Teff as well as logg, which may result in an overestimation of up to 0.5 dex for the logg of giants in the LAMOST catalog. We established empirical calibration relations for the logg values of dwarfs and giants. These results can be used for determining the precise distances to these stars based on their spectroscopic parameters.Comment: 22 pages, 13 figures and 3 tables, accepted for publication in Astronomical Journal.     Optical Transistor for an Amplification of Radiation in a Broadband THz Domain

    We propose a new type of optical transistor for a broadband amplification of THz radiation. It is made of a graphene--superconductor hybrid, where electrons and Cooper pairs couple by Coulomb forces. The transistor operates via the propagation of surface plasmons in both layers, and the origin of amplification is the quantum capacitance of graphene. It leads to THz waves amplification, the negative power absorption, and as a result, the system yields positive gain, and the hybrid acts like an optical transistor, operating with the terahertz light. It can, in principle, amplify even a whole spectrum of chaotic signals (or noise), that is required for numerous biological applications.Comment: 7 pages, 3 figure

    Introducing mobile home agents into the distributed authentication protocol to achieve location privacy in mobile IPv6

    Mobile IPv6 will be the basis for the fourth generation 4G networks which will completely revolutionize the way telecommunication devices operate. This paradigm shift will occur due to the sole use of packed switching networks. Mobile IPv6 utilizes binding updates as a route optimization to reduced triangle routing between the mobile node, the home agent and the correspondent node, allowing direct communication between the mobile node and the correspondent. However, direct communication between the nodes produces a range of security vulnerabilities, which the home agent avoided. This paper attempts to provide the advantages of using the home agent as an intermediary whilst reducing the latency of triangle routing. This can be achieved with the proposed use of a mobile home agent which essentially follows the mobile node as it moves between points of attachment providing location privacy and pseudo-direct communication, which can be incorporated into the distributed authentication protocol or be used as a stand alone solution

    Intruder level and deformation in the SD-pair shell model

    The influence of the intruder level on nuclear deformation is studied within the framework of the nucleon-pair shell model truncated to an SD-pair subspace.     Six-dimensional weak-strong simulations of head-on beam-beam compensation in RHIC

    To compensate the large beam-beam tune spread and beam-beam resonance driving terms in the polarized proton operation in the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC), we will introduce a low-energy DC electron beam into each ring to collide head-on with the opposing proton beam. The device to provide the electron beam is called an electron lens. In this article, using a 6-D weak-strong-beam-beam interaction simulation model, we investigate the effects of head-on beam-beam compensation with electron lenses on the proton beam dynamics in the RHIC 250 GeV polarized proton operation.
